Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
The British Bulldog, Scott Steiner, Roman vs The Rock & More
February 12, 2020
Welcome back to the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your host with the most and this is what we do around here. Answer questions and talk about cool stuff like the world’s greatest entertainment, sex, drugs, rock & roll and of course, Muppets. My good close and personal long-time friend, The Cheese, sent me some more questions. Doesn’t this man have a damn life? Just kidding my Peep. You ask and I’ll answer as best I can because that’s what we do around here. And besides, it’s either do this or watch the results of the Democratic Primary come in on Fox News. I love me some politics, but I’m tired of all it. Just put everyone who wants the job in the ring and let’s have a Battle Royal and the winner gets the White House. Works for me. But enough on all of that. Let’s get busy and talk about the greatest athletes and entertainers in the world today not named K-Mak, A-Mak or Soce the Elemental Wizard, the men and women of Professional Wrestling. Let’s do this…
What do you attribute ROH’s resurgence?
A solid plan for the future, strong booking, continued faith by their fans and being tired of taking a back seat to other companies and promotions. Someone at ROH got fed up and said, “Screw it!” and put a stop to the stupid and started focusing on what makes sense and what they need to do to get back on track. I don’t know who or what exactly that they did, but it seems to be working.
Do you think NXT: UK would ever be rebranded at NXT: Europe, as they have a large number of wrestlers from outside the UK, including their champion? I feel like they have branded themselves into a box, as they can be running more cities around Europe.
I agree with that and think that NXT: UK does describe the brand better and would be a solid and positive move.
Do you think there’s a better chance of Davey Boy Smith going into the Hall of Fame on his own or as part of the British Bulldogs?
If I was the man making the call, I’d put them in as a unit and team. Davey & Dynamite Kid BOTH deserve to be in the WWE Hall of Fame and I hope that Vince and the WWE decide to give them their due sooner rather than later.
What are your thoughts on Scott Steiner being part of the NWA? A lot of negative feedback on their FB page on the issue, but I feel if it brings in fans, or if he can help make talent, then why not. You?
So long as Steiner is there to be professional, I have no problems at all with him as part of the NWA. He’s not what he once was in that ring, but he is a big name talent, can still perform at a high level and his mere presence attracts attention and puts butts in the seats. I think he’s a good addition to the NWA roster.
What was the dumbest thing in wrestling that you later came to appreciate?
This one is hard because I have seen many dumb things take place in that squared circle and as part of this business that we all know and love. I guess the first thing that comes to mind is the reveal of the Gobbly Gooker. It was dumb when it first happened and now, it’s still dumb. I’m sorry, but I can’t think of anything right off the top of my head that I shook my head at in the start and then later thought was great. If I had more time, I might be able to come up with something, but for now, I’m coming up blank.
Roman Reigns has been teasing the idea of a match against The Rock for Wrestlemania. Thoughts?
The Rock back in the ring at Wrestlemania? And against his cousin, Roman Reigns? All I have to say about this is, “Book it Vince!”.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts or questions, drop me a line and let’s chat. Follow me on Twitter at @doug28352. I do follow back. And with that, it’s time to call it a night. Stay sexy my Peeps and take care of yourself. I’ll see you at the matches.
