It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug and I’m your party host and Guiding Light for the evening. Are you ready to do this? Let’s roll.

If you could do a nWo-style invasion of the NWA, who would your three guys be?

Since the NWA is more traditional wrestling and I’d want strong performers with a name, a background, and the legacy to pull off an invasion angle, I’d go with Joe Hennig (Curtis Axel), Jake Hager (Jack Swagger), and Nic Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler). Throw in Arn Anderson or Tully Blanchard as their manager/leader and let the chaos begin.

Will Hook & Samoa Joe make a good team?

From what I’ve seen so far, I think they might. Hook needs a strong, veteran presence to learn from and Joe seems to be the right person without trying to overshadow Hook’s character. I’m interested in seeing how this goes.

Interest levels in Jeff Hardy having another run in WWE?

A full-time run? I’m not interested in seeing that at all. Jeff needs to step away and focus on himself and getting his health back, not working a full-time wrestling schedule. But a limited run in TNA, with some appearances in NXT on the side? That, I could get into pretty easily. With Jeff and Matt for that matter, less is more, and use them as special attractions. A shared deal with TNA and NXT would be great for both men.

What’s one team that the Road Warriors never faced that could have been a great match?

Only one team? As soon as I saw this question, many teams popped immediately into my head. Teams like The Anderson Brothers (Ole & Gene), The Blackjacks (Mulligan & Lanza), The Usos, The New Day, The Shield (Roman & Seth), FTR, The Authors of Pain, Kronik (Adams & Clark), and The Wyatt Family (Rowan & Harper). Only one team? How about Edge & Christian? Actually, they may have wrestled. So let’s go with The Awesome Truth (Miz & R-Truth). Admit it. It’d be a fun match to see.

Do you remember The New Breed, from the mid-80s? Chris Champion & Sean Royal? Thoughts on this tag team from the future?

I do remember this team and they were excellent. They showed up in WCW and claimed to be from the year 2002, coming to the past to get rid of Jimmy Valiant, among others. Well, it didn’t work. I saw Valiant a few months ago at a show here in Laurinburg, NC. It was a cool gimmick and after it ended, Champion went on to perform as Yoshi Kwan, before passing away in 2018. As for Royal, he worked for New Japan for a while, retiring in 1993, but returned briefly for NWA Wildside in 2001 for a short run. The New Breed didn’t last long as a team, but they were memorable and very underrated in their brief time together.

Do you think Ricochet will return for another match with Bron Breakker or is he truly gone from the WWE?

Given the way that Breakker took Ricochet out of action this past week on RAW, I think it’s almost certain that we’ll be seeing Ricochet versus Breakker at SummerSlam. I surely hope so anyhow.

Is Oba Femi WWE’s next big thing?

He’s certainly big enough and impressive in the ring as the NXT North American Champion. I think he’s got a strong future ahead of him.

Rank these three off the entirety of their careers thus far. Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and Randy Orton. Can you do it?

All three men have had amazing careers in so many ways, it’s nearly impossible to decide who had the best and rank them in any kind of particular order. Just off the top of my head, I’d say Brock had the best, followed by Randy and then Roman, but that’s arguable and the rankings could change at a moment’s notice.

Stone Cold Steve Austin versus The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes. Who wins?

With both men in their prime, I’d go with Cody for the win. Austin is the flashier of the two, but Cody is the better wrestler in my opinion. Regardless of who took the victory though, it’d be a great match.

Who will Uncle Howdy and his group target when they make their debut?

I seem to remember Main Event Jey Uso and a claim to the Fireflies a month or so ago. If I remember, you know that Bo & friends remember, right? And Jey isn’t doing anything at the moment so there you go. It’d be a great start for Uncle Howdy and friends, plus give WWE a reason to put Jimmy & Jey back together as a team. It’s a win-win for all parties involved.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and motel room keys from seductive blondes. I’ll see you at the matches.

Ubuntu!
