Facebook Q&A – June 30, 2017

Facebook Q&A
June 30, 2017

I have roughly twenty minutes to kill before I have to head out and take care of some bid’ness. I want to go to bed, but that probably isn’t a good idea because I’d fall asleep and nothing would get accomplished. Damn it brother, I must really love you. It’s 12:30 at night. *sighs* So I think I’ll do a really quick Q&A of some questions I’ve found on my Facebook timeline. Four are from groups I belong to and the last one is from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan group… because Buffy is awesome and rocks. Time is a-wasting so let’s do this…

“Is it wrong to agree with someone that calls themselves unattractive?”

Well, if they are unattractive, what’s a person supposed to say? I generally avoid agreeing or disagreeing and change the subject to highlight something positive about the person and their good features and attributes instead of focusing on the bad things. No need to be crude, cruel or hurt any feelings and better to be nice.

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever done to make someone happy?

Gave them a place to live, money, sex and my heart, only to have them fuck me over both in the abstract and literal sense.

Do you believe in having “breaks” in your relationship?

It’s possible to do things apart from time to time and have different interests and friends, but so far as the idea of being together in a relationship goes, it’s all or nothing. You don’t take “breaks” – you deal with it, work things out, compromise and stay a unit, strong and united, or else you just end it completely. There is no in-between or breaks to had.

Who is your celebrity crush?

In wrestling, it’s Lisa “Ivory” Moretti and Juventud Guerrera. In the real world of modern celebrity, it’s probably Steve Grand. He’s too hot and young and out there for me truthfully, but damn, he’s pretty…

If D’Hoffryn was going to offer you a chance to be a vengeance demon, who or what would you be the vengeance demon of?

I would be the Vengence Demon of retail, where the cashiers and sales people who have to put up with stupid shit from customers, who think they’re perfect and that the “customer is always right” and look down on those of us who work in sales, can take their justifiable revenge. It just takes a wish and then stand back and let me do my thing. It would be awesome.

And there you go. Less than ten minutes and another piece for the site is complete. Damn, I am good. And with that, I’ve got to go. Have a great night and I’ll catch you later.

Slammiversary XV Thoughts and Predictions – June 29, 2017

Tossing Salt Presents:
Impact Wrestling – Slammiversary XV
Thoughts and Predictions
June 29, 2017

Coming up on Sunday, July 2nd, from the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida, will be Slammiversary XV, presents by the lovely folks at Impact Wrestling. You know who Impact Wrestling is, right? Reby Hardy’s favorite wrestling promotion. All together now… “F*CK the OWL!”. I really haven’t watched any TNA or Impact or whatever you want to call it in quite a while, but I have been keeping up via the recaps and news articles. And since there are actually a couple of people on this card and matches that have caught my interest, I decided I should be fair and balanced and give Impact the same treatment I would for a WWE pay-per-view event. That means it’s Prediction time. Let’s get right to it, shall we?

Impact Wrestling champion Bobby Lashley with King Mo vs. GFW champion Alberto el Patron with Dos Caras.

Bobby Lashley against the former Alberto Del Rio, who has finally, it seems, decided to take a break from destroying the professional career of WWE Superstar Paige to concentrate once more on the art of professional wrestling. The addition of the two men at ringside, UFC’s “King Mo”, who briefly wrestled for TNA a few years ago and Mexican legend Dos Caras, the brother of Mis Mascaras, who also happens to be Alberto’s father, will provide some extra excitement to the match, but in the end, it will all come down to the two men in the ring and which direction that Impact wants to go with the company. Lashley has turned out to be a pretty good wrestler and a strong name for the company, providing steady leadership through tough times, but Alberto is the former WWE guy, even more recently than Lashley and I think that gives him the edge. I’ll go with King Mo causing a distraction and Alberto getting the pin and win as the result. Thus, Lashley can do a MMA style match against Mo for revenge and Alberto can carry the company for the next few months as the new Impact Champion. Sounds right to me.

Winner and NEW Impact Wrestling Champion: Alberto el Patron

Impact Wrestling X-Division champion Sonjay Dutt vs. Low Ki: Best of Three Falls.

Two great performers and three falls to go, this could be one hell of a match. Is Low Ki still wrestling in the shirt and tie? That’s pretty stupid if you ask me. I think they’ll split the first two falls, as they should, and in the end, Dutt takes a great beating, but manages to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat with a cradle from nowhere to capture the final fall and retain his title.

Winner and STILL X-Division Champion: Sonjay Dutt

Jeremy Borash & Joseph Park vs. Josh Mathews & Scott Steiner.

Probably the least anticipated match of the night, but it could also be the most interesting. It’s either going to be really good and surprise everyone or it’s going to be the train wreck that everyone is expecting. I think Park and Steiner can do some decent wrestling and ever better brawling and carry the bulk of the match to passable levels if Steiner is so inclined. Matthews has some wrestling in-ring experience, but Borasch? I’m sure, after so many years in the business, he’s picked up a thing or two, but enough to be on a pay-per-view match? Well, it’s TNA or Impact or whatever. It’s not like anyone will be watching. Hopefully, this will be very short and sweet and we’ll see Borash quickly tap out in about two minutes to a Steiner Recliner.

Winners: Josh Matthews and Scott Steiner

Impact Wrestling Knockouts champion Rosemary vs. GFW Women’s champion Sienna.

Two strong women making their own way in TNA when they would be great fits for NXT or even for the women’s movement in WWE instead. I think, especially this soon after WWE had their Women’s version of the Money In The Bank match, that these two ladies will pull out all the stops and put out a tremendous effort and match. It could easily go either way, but I’ll go with Sienna on this. No real reason, but I think it will be her night.

Winner: Sienna

Full Metal Mayhem: Davey Richards and Angelina Love vs. Eddie and Alisha Edwards.

Even though all four of these folks are talented performers, I’m just sensing a train wreck of epic proportions here. I’m not familiar with Alisha Edwards, but the rest are familiar to me, with Davey and Eddie having strong runs in ROH a few years ago and Angelina being a TNA mainstay for many years as one of the Beautiful People. Let’s just flip a coin here. Heads! That means Davey and Angelina win.

Winners: Davey Richards and Angelina Love

Impact Wrestling Tag Team champions LAX vs. Naomichi Marufuji & Taiji Ishii vs. Drago & Hio del Fantasma vs. TBA.

Have they announced yet who the fourth team will be? It’s Thursday afternoon as I write this and I haven’t seen yet any definitive mention of any names, at least not officially. Doesn’t really matter though. LAX will retain and keep their Tag Team titles. “Why?”, you ask. Because I said so. That’s why.

Winners and STILL Impact Tag Team Champions: LAX

Strap Match: James Storm vs. EC3.

The Cowboy versus EC3, two men who should be in the main event (or in Storm’s case, headlining a show for NXT), regulated to a strap match in a great feud over… what is it that they’re fighting over anyhow? Hell if I know. Both men are talented and good wrestlers who should be competing over a title instead of these meaningless grudge matches over who gets the best seat at catering or whatever. The match will rock. Bodies will suffer. And in the end, EC3 will walk out with the win.

Winner: EC3

Moose & NFL star DeAngelo Williams vs. Chris Adonis & Eli Drake.

Chris Adonis, the former “Chris Masters” from the WWE, is one of the most talented young men in the business today and one of the reasons I still halfway keep track of Impact. Why he’s not back in WWE is anyone’s guess and a bad error on the WWE’s part. But he is here in Impact and teaming with Eli Drake against Moose and a football guy. Masters and Drake SHOULD win, but they’re wrestling against Moose and a NFL football guy. That means a mention on ESPN and some mainstream publicity and even more if the NFL guy should actually win. So Adonis and Drake will be the company guys and do the right thing. They’re heels and it won’t hurt them in the slightest. And TNA gets a mention in the press.

Winners: Moose and DeAngelo Williams

And there you go with my first Impact Wrestling prediction column in many, many years. I probably won’t be watching the show, but will be keeping up with the match results and show on PWInsiderElite.com, the home of Dave Scherer and Mike Johnson, the best wrestling website ever. It should be a good show though. One thing I’ll give credit to Impact for is that even with the craziness in the management of the company and their other issues, the shows and the superstars always come through with great action and matches. Management has issues, but the wrestlers get the job done and deserve major kudos for their efforts and good matches. And now, I’m out of here. I’ve got a couple of days worth of stuff to play catch up on. Have a great one and thanks for reading. Take care.

Opposing Views – June 27, 2017

Tossing Salt Presents:
Opposing Views
June 27, 2017

Opposing Views is a company out of California. They have a Facebook page and do bits and pieces of the news. They claim no agenda, but are very biased to the left. That’s cool though because they do have some very interesting columns and even more interesting reader comments. And they ask some great questions at times. What I’m doing here is looking at some of the politically based questions that they’ve put up and asked over the past few days. I would answer on their page, but dealing with the rabid haters on that page, who respond to every opinion they don’t agree with by name-calling, insults and threats, just doesn’t do it for me. So I do it here, once a week and sometimes more. I try to be relatively fair and while I don’t expect everyone to agree with what I may say or think, I’m open to hearing you out and having civil discussion if you’d like. But the opinions expressed here are mine and for everything I say or think, I have my reasons. Let’s just do this…

New bill would force Congress to work at least 40 hours a week just like the rest of America does. Do you like the policy?

It’s a nice idea, but how could it be enforced? So much work that is performed by our elected leaders isn’t something that can be governed by conventional means. What about the time spent reading and researching bills? Would that count as part of their work? What about meetings or time spent giving interviews or talking to the press? What about meetings with other members of Congress? What about travel to other nations or the White House or to and from their home districts? Would that time count or not? And the informal meetings in the gym or at the bar, where probably as much work gets done as at the office? There is way too much involved in that particular job to put a timeclock to it and legitimately enforce it with any kind of real success. It would actually hurt more than it would help.

Who treats the presidency with more respect: Trump or Obama?

Neither is really all that great when it comes to this particular topic. Trump respects the office, I believe, but he’s so untraditional and different from anyone we’ve ever had in that office and to say that he’s politically correct and does it all correctly would be a great understatement. Obama enjoyed the power of the office of President and used it to his advantage quite often. He was never totally out there or too bad at first, but I think, towards the end, he felt he was bigger than the office he held. Neither man makes me happy about their methods and mannerisms or style while being the President, but who was worse? Trump is still growing into the office and is still new. Obama started off better and got worse as the time went on. Who treated the office with more respect? George W. Bush. He was better than either.

Barbara Streisand says there’s only one reason why Hillary Clinton lost the election, because she’s a woman. Do you agree?

Hillary lost because she’s dishonest, cold, doesn’t relate to people, didn’t want to give interviews or deal with the press, was a liar and ran a really bad campaign. It had nothing at all to do with her gender. It had everything to do with her and who she is.

A leading group of American hospitals and doctors just publicly said the GOP healthcare bill will harm Americans. Do you think America should listen to the experts?

Aren’t these the same experts that were praising Obamacare and talking about how great it would be for our country? I think that their thoughts and opinions should be listened to, but at the same time, any kind of agenda they may have, as well as ties to lobbyists, should also be investigated and looked into. Are they against this bill for totally noble and sincere reasons or are they against this bill because it will cut into their profits or affect their personal interests? If they’re speaking up and drawing their conclusions based totally on unbiased and proven facts, then by all means, listen to them. But if there are other reasons for their discourse, that needs to be put out there and taken into consideration too.

Which leader is more presidential: Bill Clinton or Donald Trump?

Trump insults people on Twitter, but otherwise has tried to keep his campaign promises thus far. Bill Clinton screws Monica in the Oval Office and lies to the world with those classic lines, “I did NOT have sex with that woman” and was impeached for perjury (lying under oath). I think Trump easily takes this one.

Agree or Disagree: U.S. Veterans should receive free health care for life?

I agree, but only up to a point. For injuries and illness related to their time in service to our country, the veterans should be treated and looked after as well as possible for as long as it takes. But if a Vet falls and breaks a leg playing football.. or gets lung cancer from smoking 2 packs of cigs a day for thirty years, things that have absolutely nothing to do with their service, then they’re on their own. That’s not the Government’s responsibility. Injuries and disease that are a result of the service should be covered. Injuries and disease that are a result of just bad luck or life in general, that’s why people have insurance or health plans. It’s sad, but realistically, it’s not the Government’s responsibility.

President Trump wants to make the Border Wall a “Solar Wall”. Good idea or bad idea?

If it can be done cost-effectively, then go for it. A wall to do the job necessary of hindering the illegal aliens from entering our country and the solar stuff to create energy and electricity for our people, as well as provide jobs to build said walls, would be awesome. And think of the reaction from the lefties who keep trying to trash Trump for not embracing their ideas about global warming and the use of renewable energy. It would drive the left crazy. If it can be done, effectively and cost efficiently, what the hell… go for it.

“I don’t frankly have time for total political correctness. And to be honest with you, this country doesn’t have time either.” – President Trump. Agree or Disagree?

Agree. Forget political correctness. Just be blunt, say what needs to be said, and move on. And if feelings are hurt, so be it. Grow a set and get over it. ‘Nuff said!

And there you go. I think I’m done here for the night. I have to get online and find a new lock for the back of my Blazer, or at least a new knob thingy to turn so I can lower my tailgate and get into the back of the car. Mine fell off somewhere today. Yeah, after only 30 years, what the hell? But that’s my agenda for the night. See, unlike the Opposing Views site, when I have an agenda, I admit it. I need to fix my Blazer. And find a good boyfriend. Or at least a good friend with benefits. *sighs* I hate my life sometimes. Anyhow, I’m down and I’m gone. Have a great night and I’ll catch you later.

Wrestling Q&A – June 27, 2017

Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Q&A
Eddie Guerrero, The Bunny and Nia Jax…
June 27, 2017

Well, I was going to start off this morning writing about a horrific and troubling situation that has developed here at the Salt Palace, but my mood has been destroyed and the inspiration is gone. All together now… “Thank you Mom!”. So instead of talking about the new ongoing battle between myself and the modern day “Mean Street Posse”, aka these damn cats, I’m just going to do a Wrestling Q&A instead… just because. The questions come from Facebook and the KoK (Kult of Kayfabe). The answers are from me. Thoughts and comments are welcome. Let’s do this…

UPDATE: And that opening intro paragraph was as far as I got before things started happening and I had to leave for a while. Now, nearly twelve hours later, I’m watching Smackdown Live on the USA Network, I think that Carmella needs to call in David Otunga to have a legal discussion with Smackdown GM Daniel Bryan about his unlawful stripping of her rightful MITB vistory, and I’m going to try this again. So once again, and with some extra gusto, let’s do this…

Justin asks, “If Eddie Guerrero was still alive, where do you think he would be? Still in WWE, a permanent main eventer? Back to Midcard? Developing new guys? Lucha Underground?”

If Eddie was still alive, I think he would be divorced from Vickie, married to a new hot little “Mamacita”, and working down at the Performance Center as a trainer and occasionally as a commentator for the post-PPV “KickOff Shows”. Eddie would still be, in my opinion, afflitiated with WWE in some capacity and helping to create and build new stars for the future.

Josh says, “My 9-year old nephew asked me one of the most important questions of all time regarding a dream match. Who would win: MizBear or The Bunny?”

I personally think that WCW’s “Wildcat Willie” and Disco’s “Duck” could take out either the MizBear or the Bunny, but if these two characters are headlining the show and the main event, if the legacy and history of that famed Hare was any indication, always bet on the “Wascally Wabbit!”… Always!

Robert asks, “With the success of Cody fresh in our minds, who else on the current WWE could replicate that success and be in a better spot in the indies than they are with the company?”

The first name that immediately popped into my head was, for some reason, Curtis Axel. He’s making good money in the WWE and probably has a career there so long as he wants it, but if Joe Hennig ever wants to be a truly major player and recognized in the same circles as his father and grandfather, I think a few years away from the WWE and working around the world, with some matches in Japan, Mexico, and the UK could really help him make that mark.

From Reece: “TNA is the weirdest fucking promotion of all time. They cut Al Snow and Gregory Helms, supposedly to cut down on costs, but now they are getting SHAQ?”

Actually, Al Snow and Shane Helms are non-wrestling personalities who worked as agents backstage. Since Impact doesn’t do house shows at the moment and films several episodes of TV at a time, they found themselves having far more agents then they actually need. So the agents who worked also in other positions in the company, were kept around, while the agents, like Snow and Helms, who only worked one job and had only one role in the company, were let go from their duties. It actually makes good business sense and I fully understand it. As for bringing in Shaq, I don’t get it eiter. Not for the money reasons, but why Shaq? He couldn’t hack the idea of jobbing to the Big Show at a real wrestling event like Wrestlemania, but he’s coming to TNA… excuse me, I mean “Impact Wrestling”. The only thing I can say about all of that is “F*ck The Owl!”.

Joseph asks, “Dr. Death Steve Williams. Hall of Fame worthy? I say yes.”

Absolutely. Tough as nails. Great wrestler. International superstar. Well respected by the fans all over the world as well as his peers. It’s not really a question of is he HOF worthy, but just when.

Raven says, “Okay So You Are Making A New Match. What Are The Rules & How Do You Win?”

Tough question because I don’t think that there is truly an original match or type of match left to create. If you’re not sure about a match, look at Memphis and it probably happened there at some point. How about a combination of two matches thrown together. Take the idea of “Battle Bowl” from WCW, where names are drawn randomly and put together as a tag team to face another randomly put together tag team. And then throw in the whole “Spin the Wheel – Make the Deal” factor used at Halloween Havoc and then later by WWE as “Raw Roulette”. It’s Battle Bowl Roulette and the random teams are still put together in the same way, but instead of competing in regular tag team matches, they compete in gimmick matches. And all of the winners of the five or six “Battle Bowl Roulette” matches go on at the end of the show to compete in a Battle Royal and the winner gets a title shot against the champion of their choice for the next week or pay-per-view event. A little over-complicated to be sure, but what the hell. It’d fill up a tv show, fill up some time and could be interesting to help develop storylines and feuds.

Michael asks, “Do you want to see Sasha Banks make an appearance in the SI Swimsuit Issue?”

Sure, why not. It sounds good to me. But I’d like to see a few other women from WWE, past and present, make an appearance too, such as Ivory, Lita, Trish, Mickie James, Nia Jax, and did I say Ivory? They could do a whole special edition or feature on the womenof sports entertainment.

Homer asks, “Thoughts on the team of Paul Jones and Masked Superstar?”

In my opinion, one of the best and most underrated teams in NWA and JCP history. Jones, at that time, was on the downside of his career to be sure and would soon be making that transition to manager, but he could still go and still talk and still have a great match. And Superstar, aka Bill Eadie, was just starting to hit his prime. Two great talents that were kind of lost in the shuffle at Crockett so far as singles feuds go, but had so much to offer and were so popular with the crowds as the men they loved to hate, the Crockett people knew they couldn’t lose them and put them together as a team. The chemistry was great and truly one of the best teams in Crockett / NWA history was born. The team didn’t last long as Jones moved on to become a manager and feud with JImmy Valiant, while Superstar went to Georgia and recreated his legendary battles with Mr. Wrestling II, but they made their mark. And they were good. Damn good!

Mike asks,”Who in your opinion was the best blader in JCP and why?”

Blood was always a big part of the Crockett promotion and the best men at getting bloody, in my opinion, were Blackjack Mulligan, Dusty Rhodes and of course, the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Woooooooo…

Ike asks, “Honesty time…what are your real thoughts on Nia Jax?”

At first, I wasn’t really impressed. Big girl who could be good, but she was kind of awkward in the ring and while the potential was there, she was brought up from NXT too soon and could have used more training and exposure. But she’s getting better and has improved in that ring so much over the past year. I think her character could use a bit more consistency and development, but she’s growing on me. She’s a future champion and will be one of the good ones in the future. And by the way, I’d love to see her up against Tamina in a “Samoan Death Match”. With their common histories and styles, that could be very interesting.

And that’s it for now. I need to finish watching Smackdown Live now and go to Nic’s to get some drinks to get me through the night. So that means, I’m closing this up. Have a great one, Peeps. I’ll catch you later, my friends. Take care…
