WWE Money In The Bank Pay Per View

WWE Money In The Bank Pay Per View Predictions
July 12, 2013

Coming up on Sunday night is the 2013 version of the WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view. Of course, a ppv means that I have to break out the Sister Cleo outfit and the crystal ball and make some predictions. So, here you go. Let’s do this…

*WWE champion John Cena vs. Mark Henry.

I’m actually looking forward to this match. Cena is stale as the “top guy” in WWE and doesn’t need the WWE title. He’s better off away from the title and being the resident “Superman” instead. Mark Henry has really developed into a fantastic and legit top heel for the WWE and here, at the twilight of his career, has really earned that chance to be the top dog for the company and the WWE Champion. That’s how I see it and how I hope the WWE looks at it as well. After that great “retirement speech” a few weeks ago on RAW, Henry moved into that special place on the WWE roster. To steal a line from Alberto Del Rio, it’s Mark Henry’s destiny to be the WWE Champion. And I think Sunday night will be his time.

Winner and NEW WWE Champion: Mark Henry

*World champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler.

Dolph should never have lost the title. Del Rio is okay, but I just don’t like him as the World Champion, especially without Ricardo there to help buffer things. I expect a great match and in the end of the night, Ziggy regains the big gold belt that he never should have lost anyhow.

Winner and NEW World Champion: Dolph Ziggler

*WWE championship Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Rob Van Dam (in his WWE return) vs. CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus vs. Randy Orton vs. Christian vs. T.B.A. (Kane is out due to the attack by the Wyatt Family)

This line-up truly fits the billing of “all-star match” because any of the men participating could end up as the winner and it wouldn’t be an upset. Let’s play process of elimination to determine who will be walking out with that contract. Kane is out of the match due to “injuries”. It’s been rumoured that Bray Wyatt may end up as his replacement. I like the idea of this man having that contract – it would certainly be interesting, but I don’t think the WWE is willing to put that contract in the hands of a man who’s just began to develop his character, so even if Bray is in the match, he’s not winning.

Christian won’t win either. While I would love to see “Captain Charisma” have “one more match” for the WWE Championship, his momentum since his return has been somewhat lackluster at best. He’s a great performer and talent, but not WWE Champion material at this particular point and time. RVD is returning as a part-time special attraction so he won’t be getting the win here either. I think CM Punk’s future is tied up with Brock Lesnar and Curtis Axel for the forseeable future so let’s eliminate him too. And Sheamus? Nah, ain’t gonna happen.

So that leaves either Daniel Bryan or Randy Orton. Bryan has all the momentum right now. He’s primed and ready and probably the character that could do the most with that contract. But he’s so hot right now, it’s just too obvious. I’m expecting a swerve and that spells Randy Orton. He’s been sitting on the sidelines for far too long and it’s obvious that the WWE powers-that-be are starting to regain their confidence in the “Apex Predator”. He can play either heel or face and matches up well against either Cena or Mark Henry. I think it’s time for the one-time “Legend Killer” to make a return to the top of the card and help cement his “legacy”.

Winner: Randy Orton

*World title Money in the Bank Ladder Match: WWE United States champion Dean Ambrose vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Jack Swagger vs. Fandango vs. Wade Barrett vs. Damien Sandow vs. Antonio Cesaro.

More process of elimination, but this time, it isn’t quite as easy. Swagger has legal problems so he’s not going to win. I can’t see the WWE putting Sandow or Cesaro in the World Championship picture at this point and time so that eliminates those two. Ambrose is a helluva talent and it would be interesting to see The Shield in control of one of those contracts and after the World Championship, but I don’t think that’s going to happen yet. Fandango as the World Champion? Nah, not even in the WWE would that happen. So that leaves Wade Barrett or Cody Rhodes. I like Wade, but I’m thinking it’s time for Cody to break out and break that glass ceiling. Give this one to the grandson of the plumber.

Winner: Cody Rhodes

*Chris Jericho vs. Ryback.

Jericho is here to put on great matches and create excitement, but it doesn’t matter if he wins or loses. Ryback, according to the rumors and speculation, will be debuting a new manager in Vickie Guerrero. After the series of matches against Cena, Ryback needs to be repackaged and rebuilt. Thus, Ryback needs to walk out of the show as a winner. Ryback wins.

Winner: Ryback w/ Vickie Guerrero

*WWE Intercontinental champ Curtis Axel vs. The Miz.

So far, Curtis Axel’s time as a “Paul Heyman guy” and the Intercontinental Champion has been less than perfect. Curtis is a great in-ring performer, but he’s a wrestler in a world of entertainers and that character and personality has had a rough time breaking through. Miz has come so far since his early days and I’d much rather see him being the annoying ass-clown than the kissy-face he’s been recently, but the guy has a ton of talent and potential. Miz doesn’t need the belt right now and Axel, as much as I hate to admit it, does. He needs the belt, Heyman, and all the help he can get until he finds that niche. So no title change here. Axel wins and retains the gold as he struggles to find his way.

Winner and STILL WWE Intercontinental Champion: Curtis Axel w/ Paul Heyman

*WWE Divas champion AJ Lee vs. Kaitlyn.

Guys dig crazy chicks. I like AJ as the Divas Champion. The WWE Diva Division is lacking big time right now and unless Natayla or Tamina moves into the title scene (or one of the former Divas like Beth Phoenix, Victoria, Lita, etc) comes back, AJ is the best thing they have going right now. Maria would be good too, but I understand that there are a couple of twin Divas who blocked that from happening. I wonder who? Hmmmm! Anyhow, Kaitlyn is just not it and AJ is. So AJ keeps the gold.

Winner and STILL Divas Champion: AJ Lee

*WWE Tag Team champions The Shield vs. The Usos. (PPV pre-game show)

The Usos are a fun team to watch, but The Shield has the momentum and it wouldn’t make any sense right now for them to give up the titles. So look for a fun, tight match and look for The Shield to come out on top and stay champions.

Winners: The Shield

And there you go – my predictions. Am I right? We’ll know on Sunday. What are your thoughts and predictions for the show? Inquiring minds want to know. Holla!

And with that, I’m out of here. Later gators.

Ubuntu!
