Wrestling Fact Or Fiction
November 2, 2013

Let’s just get right to it. The questions are from 411mania.com/wrestling. The answers are mine. And Paul was the Walrus. Goo-goo-ga-joob!

1. WWE made the right call by going back to the “status quo” with John Cena and Randy Orton holding the two world titles.

FICTION: Having Cena or Orton as one of the major champions is tolerable… barely. I would rather see Cena kept as far away from any of the titles as possible and use Orton in a transitional role to help pass the torch to newer and more fresh talents like Daniel Bryan, Christian, Mark Henry, Miz, anyone else. WWE going back to Orton and Cena is playing “safe” and may make sense in some ways. “It’s what’s good for business!” But taking a chance and building new stars and building the roster is more important in my eyes and with Cena and Randy hogging the top spots, that just isn’t going to happen.

2. Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff being out of TNA would give you more motivation to watch the product.

FICTION: I actually like Bischoff so having him out of action as a TV character makes TNA less appealing to me. I don’t watch it though because it comes across as a version of WWE Lite and I just can’t get into the storys, characters and matches. I’ve tried many times and I’ll try again, but TNA just doesn’t seem to do it for me and that has nothing to do with Hogan or Bischoff.

3. WWE would be best to move on from Ryback and put the attention on a younger performer either already on the main roster or in developmental with more potential.

FACT: They tried with Ryback. It’s not working. Dump his ass and move on to someone else. ‘Nuff said!

4. Following the finish of the Hell in a Cell PPV, WWE has effectively destroyed all momentum that Daniel Bryan had.

FICTION: They have tried and have come close, but I think they managed to save face with the “Yes-Lock” on HBK Monday night. That really lit the fire back up again and jump-started that momentum again. Bryan is hell over and deserves that spot. I’m hoping that when all is said and done, we get to see Bryan with a proper run as the WWE Champion, as well as have that classic Wrestlemania XXX match again HBK. Keeping fingers crossed.

5. At this time, it would be best for TNA to be sold so that someone can start fresh with the company.

FICTION: In my opinion, the best thing would be for Dixie and her family to keep the company, but cede control and especially the creative side of things to minority owner Jeff Jarrett. That’s their best bet to get back on track and survive. Selling the company and new owners might improve things, but then again, the new owners could be worse and just totally decimate things. Better to stick with the devil you know.

6. Damien Sandow gained absolutely nothing from his Money in the Bank victory.

FICTION: He got many things like a spot in history as the 2nd man to win money in the bank and NOT become the World or WWE Champion. He got a nice, brown briefcase. He got the stigma of “loser” added to his character. And he got buried by Cena. So it’s not actually anything positive, but he did manage to walk away with a lot of nice little thingys.

7. You are not a fan of wrestlers using the crippler crossface.

FICTION: It’s an effective submission hold and if someone wants to use and (and can apply it correctly), then more power to them. I’m able to look past prior users of that hold when I see it being used and just because Wrestler X was a murderer and used that hold doesn’t mean it’s off limits. Wrestler X also used belly to back suplexes and diving headbutts and no one is bitching about those moves being used by others. It’s just a hold. Get the hell over it!

8. Jay Brisoce claiming to be the TRUE ROH Champion (since he never lost the title) and debuting his own belt is an angle you can get behind.

FACT: It’s been done before on many occasions, but what the hell. Briscoe has a legit claim to the ROH title and he had his own belt made. Cool! So we build to a belt versus belt match and determine an undisputed champion. Works for me.

And that’s all for me. Catch you on the flip side.

Ubuntu!
