Wrestling Fact Or Fiction II – April 9, 2017

Tossing Salt Presents: Wrestling Fact or Fiction (Part II)
April 9, 2017

And immediately after I posted my own “FoF” column, I decided to take a trip over the land that is 411mania.com and guess what they had up? Their own version of “Wrestling Fact or Fiction”. And I like their questions so I decided to “borrow” them and do another quick little post, because that is how I roll. So here we go, one more time. Are you ready? I said, “ARE YOU READY?”. It works so much better when DX does it…

1. The Hardy Boys return was the best part of WrestleMania 33.

FACT: Wrestlemania had a lot of good moments to be sure with Cena proposing to Nikki and especially the Undertaker and his awesome ending after his match, essentially announcing his retirement, but the loudest pop and biggest reaction by far was when the New Day announced that the triple threat ladder match had changed to a fatal 4-way and then here came out Matt and Jeff. I even jumped up and yelled out loud and I was expecting to see Matt and Jeff return at some point during the night. It was a great moment for sure.

2. You are excited for next week’s Superstar Shakeup.

FACT: Both shows, while entertaining, have become a bit stale as of late. The new GM for RAW in Kurt Angle, the return of the Hardys and Finn Balor to action, the call-ups from NXT in Shinsuke, Tye Dillinger and the Revival and switching a few of the names from each roster will help solve that problem. Fresh matches and new interaction between the personalities that we haven’t seen before, that’s always a good thing.

3. While they made their debut on Raw, The Revival will work out better on Smackdown.

FICTION: Normally, I would say Fact, but when I see how the Vaudevillians, who were awesome in NXT turned out when brought to the man roster and when I see how badly American Alpha have been used on Smackdown, I can’t see The Revival doing any better. A feud with the Hardys should be fun to watch and hopefully that will turn enough heads to allow The Revival to get a strong push and used correctly. RAW has fewer established tag teams than Smackdown so the opportunities should be stronger. One can only hope.

4. You have no desire to see Triple H in a featured match at next year’s WrestleMania.

FACT: If Hunter wants to wrestle, fine, but I really don’t care. He’s supposed to be management now and unless the match really has a meaning and purpose, aside from something manufactured just for Wrestlemania, why bother. Give the other guys the opportunity to have matches and showcase their skills at the biggest show of the year. If WWE didn’t have so many other talents ready to step up, maybe I’d feel different, but they don’t need HHH and have plenty of top stars so why waste a spot on someone who doesn’t need it?

5. AJ Styles needs to stay on Smackdown after next week’s Superstar Shakeup.

FACT: It really doesn’t matter which show he’s on because AJ is just that good and will rise to the top, but so far, the Smackdown Live! show has worked really well for him. I do hope that he ends up via the Shake-Up, reuniting with Gallows and Anderson and reforming The Club. That would be cool, especially with Finn Balor running around and part of the scene too. But AJ just says Smackdown to me in every way that matters. Let him stay there and do what he does best, be a wrestling superstar.

6. You’re happy that Kurt Angle has been given a weekly role on WWE TV

FACT: Angle is a great wrestler, natural entertainer and hell of a talent. While he’s not always been my cup of tea in the past, I think he’ll do a great job as the General Manager for RAW and will add quite a bit to the show each and every week. With access to a talent like Angle, the WWE would be stupid not to use him as often as possible. And weekly on RAW. That’s just awesome. It’s true. It’s damn true!

And there you go. That’s it for now. Thanks for reading and I’ll catch you on the flip side. Comments and thoughts are welcome.
