Wrestling Q&A – May 19, 2017

Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Q&A
May 19, 2017

Are you ready for some Wrestling Q&A? These are questions that I’ve either found on Facebook or had e-mailed to me. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Tony Nix asks, “Who was the best rassler in JCP to never hold the Heavyweight Championship?”

There were so many good wrestlers who came through through the Crockett area who would have been good possibilities to be the World Champion. The best of the best though, it’s a hard pick. You’d want a wrestler who can work heel or face and make anyone they wrestle look good, which is not an easy thing to do. I think guys like Dick Slater, Greg Valentine and Blackjack Mulligan would all be good potential champions, but the best? I think it has to be Roddy Piper in that spot.

Corey Stinnett asks, “What is that one heel/ face turn that just blew your mind? And why?”

When Hogan turned heel and joined the nWo, that was a shock and a total surprise that I never saw coming. I despised Hogan as a “face”, but as the lead dude in the nWo, he really just pissed me off and drove me nuts. So Hogan gets the nod for that one.

Anthony Tippett asks, “Wrestler you’d love to have train you & one you’d hate to have train you?”

If I was training to be a professional wrestler, I’d love to have either William Regal or Arn Anderson as my trainer and teacher. So far as who I would hate to have as my trainer, I think I’ll go with Scott Steiner. It’d probably be great training, but the man is legit kind of nuts and would be, in my opinion, hard to work with.

Dwayne Atkisson asks, “Just a question…If Hideo Itami is brought to the main roster, should he join 205 or Raw or Smackdown?”

If Itami comes to the main roster anytime soon, I think the best place for him would be on 205 Live. With Raw or Smackdown, there are so many new faces there right now, Itami would be lost in the shuffle and wouldn’t have nearly as many opportunities available as he would on the Cruiserweight show.

The following three come from my lovely cousin, Theresa…

If you had to show one match to somebody that has never really watched pro wrestling, what match would you pick to watch with them?

I would go to the NWA Clash of Champions 4 and a tag team match with the Midnight Express (Lane and Eaton) w/ Jim Cornette versus (The Horsemen) Ric Flair & Barry Windham w/ James J. Dillon. It was a great match from start to finish with great wrestling, the antics of Jim Cornette and J.J. Dillon, and an extremely rare heel versus heel match. It’s always been one of my all-time favorites and a great match that I think every fan should see.

You have your own promotion. Who would be your Champions? Please NO WWE GUYS. ONLY GUYS FROM THE CROCKETT ERA OR LIKE TERRITORIES.

World Champion : Ric Flair
US Champion: Rick Steamboat
NWA TV Champion: Arn Anderson
Mid Atlantic Champion: Greg “The Hammer” Valentine
World Tag Champions: The Midnight Express w/ Jim Cornette
Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions: Ole Anderson & Stan Hansen

Who was the best commentator?

I would love to say Bob Caudle since he’s the voice of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and that’s what I grew up on, but it’s not that easy to answer anymore. Tony Schaivone, when he first started out and before he was burnt out, was excellent. Jim Ross is damn good and Michael Cole can do a great job when he’s not being over-produced by Vince and his earphones. I think though, for my personal favorite, I’m going back to the old school and the then-host of World Wide Wrestling for Jim Crockett Promotions, Mr. Rich Landrum. And Bobby “the Brain” Heenan and “Dirty” Dutch Mantell were my two favorite color guys of all time.

Has there ever been a PPV in which every current wrestler on the roster appeared?

The only ones that I can think of is way back when WCW held their World War 3 pay-per-views with the three ring sixty man cluster-f*cks they called a Battle Royal. I think WWE has come close with the past few Wrestlemania’s, with the Andre the Giant Battle Royals, but I’m just guessing at that. I’ll give WCW the nod for this question.

And there you go, my friends. Thanks for reading. If you have any questions, send them to me please. And with that, I’m going to bed. Have a great night and I’ll catch you on the flip side.
