Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Q&A
May 25, 2017
It’s time to break out the knowledge, or lack thereof and do some of that infamous wrestling Q&A stuff. The questions, I found on Facebook as part of the KOK wrestling group. And the answers are all me, myself and I, telling it like it is, cause that’s what we do. Let’s skip the small talk and get down to business, shall we? Let’s do this.
Austin Fey asks, “If you could bring 1 dead wrestler back, who would it be?”
Most of my favorites that have passed away died either due to illness or age and I don’t think I would dare presume to interfere with the natural flow of things. But three names, actually four immediately come to mind of wrestlers that I was a fan of that died in sad and unnatural ways, that were taken way too soon and let loose from the mortal coil. So my picks would be Owen Hart, Bruiser Brody, Chris Benoit and Nancy Benoit (Woman). But the question didn’t say four people. It only said one and I think that one would be Owen. To die as he did, performing a stunt for a wrestling event, is just tragic and wrong. It would definitely be Owen Hart.
James Ryder asks, ” What are your dream matches that could still happen?”
Unfortunately, age and injury have taken their toll and many of my dream matches, such as the Midnight Express versus almost anyone on the WWE roster couldn’t happen. But let’s talk about the ones that still could. How about Shawn Michaels versus AJ Styles? How about Bray Wyatt versus Brock Lesnar? How about Heath Slater versus Zack Ryder for the WWE Championship? Sting versus Undertaker could technically still happen. Ivory & Victoria versus any of the top ladies currently in WWE would be good for me. And my ex-roomie and little brother, Mike Youngblood taking on Triple H. It would be a match for the ages.
Tim Woytych asks, “If you could pick any wrestler in the world to become WWE Champion, who would it be?”
I would say Bobby Eaton, but Bobby doesn’t wrestle anymore unfortunately. The man definitely had the talent. Arn Anderson would have been another pick of mine, were he still able to wrestle and go in that ring. But I’m guessing that my answer should be a current and active wrestler. If I’m naming someone currently on the WWE / NXT rosters, it would easily be Drew McIntyre. It’s just a matter of time for this man. And if I’m picking someone who isn’t currently a part of the WWE, but should be and would make a great WWE Champion, I think I’d like to see Carlito Colon have an opportunity.
Aakash Jaitly asks, “Should Mahal keep the title for long?”
If this title reign is to really matter and mean anything, I would have him keep the championship for at least six months.
Kwency Jones GO wants to know, “Could you see Finn Bàlor as a future ‘Heyman Guy’?”
With all of the praise that Heyman was rightfully giving Balor this past Monday night, I could easily see it happening. Balor is an amazing talent in the ring and while he’s an ok talker, I’d love to see him using someone like Heyman as the “Advocate” for his character, thus limiting his promos to only speaking when absolutely necessary, kind of like using Heyman to just add the exclamation point to whatever is said. It could be a great partnership to be sure. And by the way, for my answer earlier about “dream matches”, let’s add Finn Balor versus CM Punk to the list.
Johnny Crawford asks, “Should Renee Young be part of the commentary team for the Mae Young Classic tournament?”
Renee is actually a pretty good commentator, as she showed in NXT and it would make sense to have a female as part of the announce team for an event, such as the Mae Young Classic, so my answer for this would be a resounding yes.
Kwency Jones GO says, “I’m pulling for Bray or Finn, but if Seth/Samoa continues or Bray/Finn actually starts then it just might be Roman. Who’s your pick to win the #1 contendership?”
I would be happy with either Bray, Finn or Joe, just because we’ve never seen any of these three compete against Brock yet and it would be a fresh match, and in the case of either Joe or Bray, extremely tight and stiff too. Seth and Roman have both already fought Brock in the past and I have no desire to see it happen again. And of the three that I’d like to see, my personal favorite would be Bray Wyatt.
Zachary V Walton says, “So with Jinder Mahal’s WWE Championship win this past Sunday, I’m very curious to know, who would you rather see as champion, Jinder or Roman?”
Jinder. It’s not even close.
Willie Jackson says, “If you could book a dream card with the wrestlers you watched when you first started watching and became a fan versus the top wrestlers of today, how would your card look?”
Well, I first started watching wrestling in the mid-seventies and early 80’s, in the Mid-Atlantic region, Jim Crockett Promotions. And a dream card of stars from that era and stars of today? I’d make it eight matches and, just off the top of my head, it’d go like this here.
Harley Race versus Triple H
The Anderson Brothers (Ole & Gene) versus Matt & Jeff Hardy
Wahoo McDaniel versus Samoa Joe
Jack Brisco & Jerry Brisco versus Kurt Angle & Brock Lesnar
Ric Flair & Greg Valentine versus Sheamus & Cesaro
Blackjack Mulligan versus Bray Wyatt
Penny Banner versus Charlotte Flair
Ten Man Over The Top Battle Royal: One Man Gang, Braun Strauman, Ivan Koloff, Rusev, Johnny Weaver, William Regal, Masked Superstar, Kevin Owens, Baron Von Raschke, Chris Jericho
And there you go. Comments and thoughts are welcome. Thanks for reading and I’ll be back over the weekend with some Fact or Fiction thingees, probably a “This & That” or two and who knows what else? I’m feeling a little feisty right now about a few things so anything is possible. But we’ll have to wait and see. For now, I’m out of here. Have a great one and I’ll catch you later.
Ubuntu!
