Tossing Salt Presents:
Music Fact or Fiction
June 2, 2017

Salutations and welcome to my weekly look at current music events where I do that whole “Fact” or “Fiction” thing and explain why music today sucks. Yeah, I’m not in that great a mood today and feel like total shit. If there’s a part of my body that isn’t hurting, I don’t know what it is and I want to puke. Don’t you just love these details? But regardless of how I feel, I have a job to do and that’s write this. The topics come from my friends at 411mania.com/music. The opinions afterwards are mine. Let’s do this…
Linkin Park’s new album is their worst yet.

FACT: I honestly have not listened to their new album and have no interest in doing so. But I did go and read about a million or so fan reviews and how did Adam Sandler put it? “Fifty million Elvis fans can’t be wrong!”. Everything I read and every comment seems to be united in the opinion that this album is weak and just going through the motions. I don’t know and don’t care so listen for yourself and make the call. I’m not though.
Lil Wayne could win a lawsuit against Martin Shkreli over leaking Tha Carter V.

FACT: This is pretty straight forward. Shkreli doesn’t own The Carter V or the tracks and was served a cease and desist order by Little Wayne’s lawyers. He didn’t listen and leaked the tracks anyhow. I hope that Wayne and his lawyers burn Shkreli’s ass.
Gregg Allman was an underrated part of Southern Rock history.

FACT: Allman and his brother were pioneers and really help to define the whole Southern rock industry, but are overshadowed by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet and 38 Special for example. Hardcore fans know who Allman is and respect his legacy, but to the kids and new fans of music, they just don’t always seem to get it. Allman was one of the first, one of the best, and he banged Cher when she was still young and hot, even having a son with her. He was the man! RIP Midnight Rider.
You’re interested in hearing the debut album from The Notorious BIG’s son CJ Wallace.

FICTION: Not into rap and could care less. Just because this kid is the son of a talented rapper doesn’t mean he’ll be any good. Think Lisa Marie Presley for example. He might end up being good, but then again, he may not. Let me know how it turns out.
You’ll pick up the 15th anniversary reissue of The Eminem Show.

FICTION: I love Eminem and most of his music, but I’ll probably let this pass. I have the original and that’s quite fine with me. Any extra bonus stuff, I’ll just listen to on YouTube.

Ariana Grande made the right decision in hosting a Manchester benefit concert so soon after the attack.

FACT: I’m not a fan of her music, but it can’t be easy going back to Manchester for her and to do so, especially so soon, shows a lot of guts and fortitude. Most people wouldn’t do it and she gets kudos for that. She wants to help and do something for the people who were hurt and affected by the attack at her show. Good for her.

And there you go. Short answers today, but it is what it is. Thanks for reading and I’ll catch you later. Have a great one.
