Tossing Salt Presents: Opposing Views
Political Commentary At It’s Finest
June 5, 2017

Over at Facebook, there is a page called “Opposing Views”. They present themselves as a news organization from Los Angeles, CA. And yes, they do report news, with a left-leaning slanted twist that would make Teddy Kennedy look like Jesse Helms in comparison. They are a bit out there sometimes. But the articles, though obviously biased, are entertaining and informative at times. And the comment section. Oh vey! It can be entertaining to read sometimes too, but every time I start to read, I can feel my brain cells screaming in agony and the stupidity and ignorance that has overtaken large portions of our nation just pours off the computer screen. Yes, it is that bad sometimes.

But the one good thing that I do like about the site is that they give thought provoing questions to their readers designed to stir the pot and incite the fires. Of course, most of the commenters don’t think, prefering to react emotionally (and often violently) instead of using things like facts, logic, common sense and rational thought before commenting. It’s way too easy to be a leftist sheeple rather than an independent thinker these days.

So who have I pissed off so far? If you’re still here and reading and haven’t gotten pissed off yet, stick around. The day is young. So here’s what I’m going to do. I’ve taken several questioned posted by Opposing Views for their readers to answer and as a regular reader, I’m going to answer them. It’s getting political today and nothing will be held back and no feelings will be spared. I’m just going to tell it as I see it and let the chips fall where they may. And if you don’t agree with what I say, that’s way cool. Tell me why, but use facts and legitimate answers. Answers based purely on emotion or using the left’s group argument isn’t going to cut it here. For example, if I’m talking abut Kathy Griffin (which I probably will) and your only argument is Ted Nugent did this or that, then it’s irrelevant and meaningless to me. Two wrongs doesn’t make a right and if a person does something stupid, that’s their right, but whatever consequences they face as a result is theirs too… period. We’ll go more into that later on. But for now, let’s get all down and dirty. Let’s do this…

Obama may be out of office now, but Americans still seem to love him. Do you admire him?

Admire is not a word I would use. I respect Obama, as a former President of the United States and a man who, I think loves his country and had the best of intentions for the most part. But I still think he was a weak and failed President, a poor leader and although not intentionally, did more to hurt our country and standing in the world than help by a long shot. He used short term solutions for long term problems and didn’t give much thought to the consequences, often kicking the can down the road, as the cliche goes. As a person, based on what I’ve witnessed, read, heard about and observed, I don’t think we’d get along in real life very well and I really don’t think he’s a good person. He may be, but I have my doubts.

Simple question: Is Donald Trump doing a good job as president?

I believe that so far, he was well exceeded all expectations. Trump was not my first choice in the election or even my tenth, but he is the President now and right or wrong, he is shaping things up and getting things done. He’s not a politician, but a businessman who is looking at the bottom line and big picture when making decisions and I have to say that it’s refreshing to actually see things moving and getting done. Could he be doing better? Probably. But Trump has taken control of his government despite strong opposition from the Democrats for everything he says and done, not because they disagree with the program or idea, but because it’s Trump, and seems to be really growing into his job as President. And all things considered, he’s doing pretty damn well at it.

It’s been a bad week for liberal comedians. First, Kathy Griffin insults all of America and gets fired from CNN. Now, Bill Maher took to television to air some very controversial words. Should he be fired?

If Maher gets fired or suspended or whatever, that’s between him and his employers. That’s not my call or anyone elses and it shouldn’t be. Actions and words have consequences and if HBO can live with Maher’s slip of the tongue, so be it. End of story. That should also be the case with Kathy Griffin. Her idea of posing with a mock decapitated head of President Trump was tasteless, disgusting and vile. It’s also her right as protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution. But just because she had the right to do it doesn’t mean that she should. She did anyhow and just as for anything else, there are consequences as a result. CNN fired her and that was their decision. From what I understand, several of her shows have been cancelled by promoters and that’s their call. She lost an endorsement deal with a potty company and that was their call. And then she gets on TV, a day after making an extremely insincere apology, with her attorney at her side, claiming that she’s the victim and being bullied by the Trump family and their followers. She knew and even stated before posting the picture that it would cause a reaction, but now that it’s actually caused a reaction and blown up in her face, she’s the victim and claiming foul. Here’s a big newsflash. If Griffin hadn’t tried to be shocking and go after Trump with that mock image, and if she hadn’t specifically mentioned that she would be going after Trump and his young son Barron in her so-called comedy act a few months earlier, none of the feedback and criticism would have happened. Sure, she would still get criticized for being a bad comedian and unfunny and tasteless, but she would still be doing shows and appearing on CNN and with Al Franken, another bad comic with a history of tasteless material. Griffin made her bed and now she can lay in it and suffer the consequences for what she said. It’s called Karma and honestly, it couldn’t happen to a nicer person.

Agree or disagree: Businesses have a right to require employees to speak English.

I agree. If the business is located in the United States, where english is the primary language spoken, then how can the employee be a part of the business when they can’t speak the language. It’s just common sense and while I can see a few instances where it may not be a major matter, such as inside a plant or working with farming, having employees who can’t communicate or even speak some basic english is just a huge burden and extra work for everyone involved.

Use one word to describe Hillary Clinton.

Reprehensible.

Were you proud to have the Obamas represent America for eight years?

Nope. I explained it earlier in the first question. Obama was, in my opinion, a weak President and a poor leader. His policies weakened our country, made us look bad in the eyes of the world, cost us jobs and have nearly bankrupted our nation. And while I don’t doubt that he had the best of intentions in the short term, the damage his policies have done to our nation will require many years to fix. We are much better with someone else in the Oval Office.

Donald Trump has now been in office for a few months. YES or NO: Is he doing a good job?

Again, this has already been answered. Trump isn’t perfect, but in spite of the shenanigans of the Democrats and the disrespect of so many spoiled children who are afraid that Daddy is going to take away their toys from the previous entitlement obsessed Administration, Trump has actually done quite well. He’s moving quickly on things, taking action and getting out in front of the issues instead of leading from behind and he’s making things happen, something we haven’t seen in Washington in a long time. So yes, he’s doing a fine job.

Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton were recently voted as two of the most admired women in the world. Do you admire them?

With Hillary, I admire her persistence. She will not give up, regardless of whatever she has to do. And if things don’t go her way, just deny the facts and evidence and keep on going anyhow. My personal opinion is that both Hillary and Michelle are cold, methodical and sad little people who place themselves above everyone else and damn the consequences of their actions so long as they win. I may be wrong, but that’s what I see.

Newt Gingrich called Hillary Clinton one of the most corrupt politicians in U.S. history. Do you agree with him?

I think Newt is 100% on the money and absolutely correct in his opinion of Mrs. Clinton.

Chelsea Clinton wants to run for Senate. Would you vote for her?

If you take away the last name, what qualifications does Chelsea have to be a United States Senator? How many businesses has she ran? How many elected offices has she held? How many jobs has she created? How many jobs, dealing with real world issues and life has she held? The answer to all of these questions is “None!”. She has worked for her parents in the Clinton Foundation, as corrupt an organization as exists on this planet. Don’t believe me? Ask the people of Haiti about the hurricane relief that the Clinton Foundation raised for them. If you take away the last name, Chelsea is barely qualified to babysit a kid, much less be a United States Senator. So my answer is definite no.

Do you think there’s any merit to claims that Trump colluded with Russia?

Not really. No. I think that there may have been some talks with the Russian government as the Trump team prepared to enter office, but no more or less than any other incoming President may have. If there was any collusion, what about the Uranium deposits that the Clinton State Department, headed by Hillary Clinton, allowed the Soviets to gain control of, after a large donation to the Clinton Foundation of course. If the Russians were meddling in the U.S. elections, it was for their own purposes and reasons and not because of anyone here in the U.S. This is lots of smoke and mirrors and an attempt by the Democrats, grasping at anything they can find, in a desperate attempt to discredit and weaken President Trump. Rather than just admit that they lost, fair and square in the Electoral college, the only voting that matters, they are looking for anything and every way possible to place the blame to Trump, the Russians and everyone else.

Do you think people should mind their own business about what foods people buy with food stamps?

Yes.

Use one word to describe Michelle Obama.

Hypocrite.

Has Donald Trump made America stronger or weaker?

In the short term, definitely stronger. Stocks are up. The economy is growing. Unemployment is down. Consumer confidence is growing and other nations, while they may not like us or the President, are having to respect us and toe the line a little more steadily now. As for the long term, I think he’s on the right track with most things, but only time will tell.

And I’m going to stop right here. I have a few more questions from the friendly folks at Opposing Views, but I glanced at the clock and it’s nearly time for me to head to work. So… comments and thoughts are welcome. Let me know what you think. As for now, “dat is all de’ people need to know”. Thanks for reading and I’ll catch you later. Have a great day.
