Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Q&A
June 5, 2017
Just moments ago, WWE Extreme Rules ended. It was another solid show for the WWE, albeit a bit on the predictable side. Everyone worked hard and the matches were, for the most part, fun and well booked. And in my opinion, the right people won and loss. I went 6-0 for my predictions and that’s not too shabby. And now, I’ve got wrestling on my mind and thus, I think it’s time to do a little of that “Wrestling Q&A” stuff. The questions come from a couple of Facebook groups, one about Jim Crockett Promotions and the other being the KOK (Kult of Kayfabe).
Before I get busy doing the answering thing, I want to send good wishes and prayers out to the greatest NWA World Champion of all time and wrestling legend / icon Harley Race, who suffered a fall at his home earlier this week and suffered two broken legs as a result. Here’s to a speedy recovery for Mr. Race. Get well soon.
And now, on to the questions…
Thomas Bryant says, “Speaking of the idea of Cass on turing on Enzo. Does anyone else think that Cass would make a pretty good version of a modern day Test?”
A modern day Test? I think Enzo could be better than that since Test was a mid-carder at best and in my opinion, Cass is a better in-ring worker. His mic skills aren’t really all that as of yet, but he’s getting better and I could see him one day at the top of the card, with Enzo as his mouth-piece. Actually, I think Enzo would be better off as a manager anyhow, with a whole gathering of wrestlers under his wing, like a modern day Jimmy Hart. I’m not really sure who Cass reminds me of, but it’s not Test. Probably more like Edge or a more talented Kevin Nash, given the right booking and more experience.
Jason Evans says, “So, I kinda like Vampiro and Striker as an announcing team. Anyone agree?”
I’ve watched Lucha Underground a few times and they’re not bad. I’ve always liked Matt Striker as an announcer and I think the WWE made a mistake when they let him go several years ago. Vampiro is not really everyone’s cup of tea as a color guy, but at least he’s better than David Otunga.
Damon Belser wants to know, “How many of us still Bo-lieve ??”
Bo is still one of my favorite WWE talents and I think his career is still able to be saved. One way would be to have him join his brother, Bray, as a member of the Wyatt family. Or do the Jinder Mahal route and have him take a break from TV and be repackaged as a man looking for change and ready to make a fresh start. Hell, give him a manager, such as Enzo or James Ellsworth, as I spoke of a couple of questions ago, and use the union to resurrect both their careers and put them on the right track. Bottom line is Bo is a talented dude with a tremendous upside if used and booked correctly. WWE got it right in NXT, but then screwed up when Bo moved to the main roster. Hopefully, they’ll find a way to get it right again. It’ll happen. I will always Bo-lieve!
Jake Dawson asks, “Do you see WWE showing RAW and Smackdown exclusively on the WWE Network in the near future?”
Nope. The TV revenue from airing RAW and Smackdown on the USA Network is still the biggest source of income for the WWE and they’re not going to give it up if at all possible. While I can see them eventually showing the replays of their shows on the Network possibly the week after or even sooner eventually, there will always be a place on regular TV for the WWE product.
Rusty Flowers asks, “Who was the greatest NWA Western heavy weight champion?”
Since this came from the Crockett group, I’m assuming that the question is about the Western States Heritage Championship. Only two men held this prestigious title, Barry Windham and Larry Zbyszko. And of the two, the man who represented that title best, along with the aid of his valet / manager, Baby Doll, was “The Living Legend” Larry Zbyszko.
And I guess that’s enough for tonight. This is short, but it will be allight! I’m going to go watch some Netflix now. Thank you for reading. Comments and thoughts are welcome. And I’m down and gone. Catch you later.
Ubuntu!
