Tossing Salt Presents: Opposing Views
Political Commentary At It’s Finest
Part II
June 9, 2017

Over at Facebook, there is a page called “Opposing Views”. They present themselves as a news organization from Los Angeles, CA. And yes, they do report news, with a left-leaning slanted twist that would make Teddy Kennedy look like Jesse Helms in comparison. They are a bit out there sometimes. But the articles, though obviously biased, are entertaining and informative at times. And the comment section. Oh vey! It can be entertaining to read sometimes too, but every time I start to read, I can feel my brain cells screaming in agony and the stupidity and ignorance that has overtaken large portions of our nation just pours off the computer screen. Yes, it is that bad sometimes.

But the one good thing that I do like about the site is that they give thought provoing questions to their readers designed to stir the pot and incite the fires. Of course, most of the commenters don’t think, prefering to react emotionally (and often violently) instead of using things like facts, logic, common sense and rational thought before commenting. It’s way too easy to be a leftist sheeple rather than an independent thinker these days.

So who have I pissed off so far? If you’re still here and reading and haven’t gotten pissed off yet, stick around. The day is young. So here’s what I’m going to do. I’ve taken several questioned posted by Opposing Views for their readers to answer and as a regular reader, I’m going to answer them. It’s getting political today and nothing will be held back and no feelings will be spared. I’m just going to tell it as I see it and let the chips fall where they may. Let’s do this…

A judge ruled that the Confederate flag can go back up in a South Carolina courtroom. Did the judge make the right decision?

Absolutely. Just because some people don’t understand the historical meaning of the Confederate flag doesn’t mean that it should be hidden away forever. It’s a strong part of American history, especially in the south, and means a lot to a great deal of people. History can’t be ignored, hidden away or forgotten, no matter what some would have you think. It should be remembered, honored and used as a learning tool, for both the positives and the negatives associated with it. In South Carolina especially, the Confederate flag and what it represents, different things to different people, is a very strong part of the legacy and history of the state. It should be embraced for the positive, used as a lesson for the negatives and remain a viable part of the South Carolina culture.

YES or NO: Are the Clintons criminals?

Is the sky blue? Could George Jones sing? Is Kayne egotistical? Is the rent too damn high? The answers to all of these questions and the question about Bill and Hillary Clinton are all the same. Not only yes, but “HELL YES!”.

Rev. Franklin Graham says Christians and Muslims absolutely do not worship the same God. Do you agree or disagree?

Theology is not my strong point, but the way I’ve always felt is that there is one God, one higher power, one big guy in the sky, etc. How we choose to see him or her, and how we choose to perceive them, is another story all together. Religion is based on our understanding and interpretations of the words of God and even in the same belief structure, people view it in many different ways. Bottom line and long story short, it isn’t what you believe, but that you do believe and have a faith that matters. One God with many representations and differing points of view in worship.

Do you think Trump fired Comey because he was afraid of getting caught in the Russia investigation?

Comey said today, three different times in the Congressional hearings, that Trump WAS NOT under investigation. And so far, after thousands of hours of media coverage and investigation, there is still absolutely NOTHING that proves in any way, shape or form, that the Trump campaign, or Trump himself, was working in any way, shape or form, with Russia. Trump fired Comey, as is his right as the President, because he didn’t have faith in Comey to continue as the Director of FBI, simple as that. And given the fact that today, Comney admitted under oath, that he leaked material to the New York Post via a friend, it shows that Trump was justified with that lack of faith.

Do you think President Trump will be better for America than Obama was?

He sure as hell can’t be any worse. Trump, unlike the former President, actually wants to make things better in the long term and make America great again. I don’t particularly like his methods sometimes, but I don’t doubt his intentions and goals. I think he truly does love this country and has the best in mind.

Atheists want the words “In God We Trust” removed from Florida’s license plates. Do you think they should stay?

If the atheists don’t like it, I’m sure that there are license plates available without the offending words. But they shouldn’t have the right to decide for anyone else. “In God We Trust” is part of the Florida state logo and is also on all money. Do they want it removed from there as well? If they don’t want the words on their tags, then ask for different tags. And if money offends them, send it to me. I would’t mind at all.

In a recent C-SPAN survey, presidential historians ranked Obama the 12th best president of all time. Do you think Obama served America well as president?

I think that our country is worse off than it was before President Obama. Our federal deficit is far higher than ever and grew under President Obama more than the previous 43 president’s combined. Our reputation in the world has been tarnished and our nation and it’s economy is far worse due to his programs and policies. I once thought Jimmy Carter was the weakest President of the 20th century, but I think that President Obama has overtaken Carter for the position of absolute worst.

Do you think Donald Trump will get impeached?

I think that the Democrats will repeatedly try to impeach Trump regardless of whether or not he actually does anything impeachable or not. The ends justify the means in their eyes and they just can’t handle that their candidate lost the election and Trump, of all people, won. They hate him and any common sense, logical thinking or reason is totally out the window where their efforts to disgrace him is concerned. Of course, with the Republicans controlling both the House and Senate, the impeachment process, if it was ever to come to pass, would fail, but that doesn’t matter either. The Dems are so delusional in their sheer hatred of Trump that they just want to destroy his Presidency and any legacy, regardless of the cost.

Do you think some people hate the Obamas because of their race?

Absolutely. And some hated him because of his poor leadership skills, bad policy, hypocrisy, lies and arrogance. When it comes to hatred, humans are a fickle bunch and any excuse will do. Race is a stupid reason to hate someone. Actions make for a much stronger purpose and reason and Obama’s actions, as President, and his policies, are reason enough to earn scorn and dislike.

Remember all those Confederate monuments that were taken down in New Orleans recently? Alabama just passed a law to make sure that never happens in their state. Do you support this?

Yes! Those monuments are a part of the history of Alabama and history can not be ignored or denied. It is what it is and is there, in all it’s glory, to be learned of and from. Embrace the positive parts and learn from the negatives. If history is forgotten, it tends to repeat itself and no lesson has been learned. Leave the monuments alone.

Are you proud to call Mike Pence your vice president?

I would much rather have seen Ohio Governor John Kasich or maybe Newt Gingrich as the VP, but Pence strikes me as basically a decent enough person. He has some views and opinions I don’t agree with to be sure, but given the choices that could have been made when Trump as picking his running mate, such as Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, etc, Pence isn’t really all that bad.

President Trump says it’s clear the media wants him to fail as president. Do you think so too?

It’s obvious that this is exactly the case. Be it CNN, NBC, the New York Post, etc, the lies and negative articles far outnumber anything positive about the President on at least a 10 to 1 basis if not more. The mainstream media is determined to bring Trump down, journalism and truth be damned. Trump is 100% correct on this.

An average of the latest major polls shows that President Trump’s approval rating is higher than Bill Clinton’s was at this point during his first term. Do you think Trump is doing a good job in office?

Despite absolutely no cooperation from the Democrats, an extremely biased anti-Trump press, and numerous fake distractions and investigations designed to impede and distract the Trump administration, I think he’s doing a far better job than anyone has a right to do. All of the economic indicators are on the rise, the unemployment rate is falling and everything seems to be moving in the right direction. I think Trump does have some issues that need to be resolved and he should stay off of Twitter if possible, but so far, so good. He’s doing fine.

English should be America’s official language: Yes or No?

YES!

And that’s it for now. Thank you for reading. Comments and questions are welcome and appreciated. Let me know what you think. Until the next time, I’m down and I’m gone.
