Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Q&A
June 19, 2017
I just turned on the WWE Network and am listening to the Money In The Bank Kick-Off Show, even as I write this. I have absolutely no interest in seeing this and listening to Renee, Booker and Sam Roberts talk, but I want to see the Hype Bros. take on the Colons later on this hour. And of course, I want to see the Money In The Bank pay-per-view. Actually, I just want to say screw it all and go to bed. That’s the bad thing about being bi-polar and manic depressive, but I’m trying guys. Maybe doing some Q&A about the world’s greatest sport, right after Naked Twister, will help. That’s the plan anyhow. I found these questions in the Facebook group, Kult of Kayefabe, aka “The KoK”. And the answers are all from me. Let’s do this…
John asks, “Can somebody please explain the appeal of the Miz to me? I just don’t get it at all.”
Miz is a great talker, puts on consistently good matches and can go with anyone. He plays the role of heel as it should be, not the “cool tweener” that is so popular these days, but as a true ass-clown. Miz is one of the best and most consistent performers in sports-entertainment today and is someone that every single person in that locker room should use as an example of what to strive to me. If you don’t get it, that’s your problem. He’s the Miz, he’s the Intercontinental Champion and he’s awesome. ‘Nuff said!
Also from John, “Favorite wrestler working today? I’m going way left field on this one and saying the Mack from Lucha Underground. What’s yours?”
This is actually a much harder question than it should be. There are some wrestlers that I love to see and hear talk, but the matches are kind of ‘eh at best. And there are some wrestlers that can really go in that ring and you know that the match will be great, but the promo skills are lacking or the “it factor” isn’t really there. I think that my personal favorute right now, that’d I would love to see get a major push, who I actually make a point to watch wrestle every chance I get, right now, is Bo Dallas. Look at what he did in NXT and how good he truly can be. Now if the moons would just line up and we could see that Bo Dallas on the main roster and in this current incarnation of his character, the sky could be the limit.
Larry says, “My favorite Money In The Bank winner was RVD. Who’s yours?”
Looking back, the “cashing in” that I think I popped the biggest for was when CM Punk held that briefcase.
Gary asks, “What do you think of the Great Muta?”
A great wrestler with all the talent and charisma in the world. One of my big regrets is that I never had the chance to see Muta wrestle live. I did get the opportunity to see him wrestle many times for the NWA and WCW and he’s a true legend in every sense of the word. I was a big fan of The Great Kabuki when I was younger and I look at Muta as Kabuki 2.0 – he’s an amazing talent.
Joseph asks, “What is the best Championship match you saw? It can be from any company. For me Hardy’s vs Bucks ladder match for the ROH tag team championships.”
I’ve seen so many over the past forty years and to pick just one or two as the “best” is an impossible task. But as soon as I saw this question, the match that immediately came to mind was a 2 out of 3 falls match between Bobby Eaton and NWA World Champion Ric Flair on an edition of “Clash of the Champions”. Ric won cleanly in two falls, but this match established Eaton as a singles wrestlers and he went on not long afterwards to win the NWA World Television Championship. It stands out for so many reasons as what a great wrestling match is and should be and this is my choice and pick.
Rohit asks, “Which match/segment of a certain performer made you their lifelong fan from day 1?”
From Day 1 when Bo Dallas came out on WWE TV, I have been a true “Bo-Liever”. Bo is the real deal and will be in that upper mid-card and a title holder one day.
Anthony asks, “Money in the Bank tonight! What match you looking forward to the most?”
All of the matches have some appeal to them and both good and bad points, but I think the one I’m most interested in is the match with Jinder defending the WWE title against Randy Orton.
Jaideep asks, “In celebration of Fathers Day, what is your favorite Father/Son in Pro Wrestling?”
So many choices to choose from, such as Blackjack Mulligan Sr. and Jr (Barry Windham), Ric & David Flair, Larry, Curt and Joe (Curtis Axel) Hennig, The Von Erich family (Fritz, David, Kevin, Kerry, Chris & Mike), Dusty Rhodes and sons Cody and Dustin, etc. So many great wrestling families out there, it’s hard to pick one. I’m strongly leaning towards Mike Rotundo and his sons, Bo Dallas and Bray Wyatt, but I think I’ll go big with the biggest choice of all… How about Dad Vince McMahon and his son, Shane? Works for me.
And there you go, my friends. Another Q&A in the books. Now time to go finish watching this Kick-Off show and get ready to see what’s kicking on Money In The Bank in about twenty-five minutes. Thanks for reading. I’m down and I’m gone. Have a great one.
