Music Fact or Fiction

Good morning, salutations and all of that crap. It’s early in the morning and I should be getting ready for a fun filled 11 hours of selling fine spirits to the masses and giving them the opportunity to get turnt up, but instead, I am here at the computer, trying to get my head together and get psyched up for the day ahead. Plus I have a “Music Fact or Fiction” to do. It must be Saturday. Oh vey!

So here is what’s going on. I take a look at six statements about the world of music and entertainment, provided by my great friends over at 411mania.com/music and then I decide if I agree or not and explain why. Simple enough, right? I see Adele, Jay Z., Nikki Sixx and More. This should be fun. And away we go…

You wouldn’t be surprised if Adele never toured again.

FACT: Adele doesn’t really strike me as the type who likes touring very much. She seems like and has stated as much that she is a bit of a homebody and prefers more of an ordinary routine to her life. I get that and when you factor in that she started having vocal problems towards the end of her recent tour, which has gone on for fifteen months, I believe, I think that long tours will now be a thing of the past. I can see the occasional show here or there or maybe even a short, seven or eight city event every so often, but so far as the long, world wide tours that last forever go, I just don’t see Adele putting herself through that again.

JAY-Z’s new album wasn’t worth the wait.

FACT: Whatever Jay Z. was in the past, he’s pretty much just coasting along now on his name and reputation. The reviews I’ve seen of his new material are lackluster at best and while the new music is okay, it’s not what people expect of or want from him. More time spent in the studio tightening things up would have been better than just going through the motions and not even trying, which is what appears to be happening.

Sony Music’s decision to press vinyl albums is a waste of money.

FICTION: Vinyl seems to be making somewhat of a comeback these days and so long as the profits exceed the costs and money is made, who can complain about Sony trying to cash in. With albums, there are so many different things like the covers, art, that unique scratchy sound that some of us older folks kind of like, etc. I like playing my old turntable and it looks like I’m not the only one. Sony has realized this and is catering to our group. Good for them.

Nikki Sixx will make a great addition to American Idol.

FACT: Nikki has been in the music business forever. He’s been at the top and he’s hit rock bottom. He’s a name that, whether you like Motley Crue or not, you have to respect them and he will provide entertainment in the uniqueness of his character and image, much like Steven Tyler did when he was a judge. Nikki, Katy Perry and Lionel Ritchie. That’s a good group for the Idol producers to go with. It should be good.

All Eyez On Me was a huge disappointment.

FACT: The critics hate it. The box office sales have sucked and it probably won’t even break even. And it’s boring. How can a movie about Tupac be totally forgettable and insomnia inducing? This movie has managed to do just that. It’s just not good! To say it’s a disappointment is an understatement at best.

You’re not interested in the Iggy Azalea/Azealia Banks collaboration.

FACT: Who? Neither one of these ladies interests me, either as solo artists or together. They fight and now they’re friends and who gives a rat’s ass truthfully either way. Not me.

And there you go. I’m finished and I still have time to go get ready for work without rushing. Thanks for reading. Comments and thoughts are welcome. I’ll catch you on the flip side. Take care.
