Tossing Salt Facebook Q&A

Well, I can’t sleep so what is a man to do? I could go watch Season 5 of “Arrow” on Netflix or maybe go over the the WWE Network and watch “Great Balls of Fire” again. Damn good show, by the way. That whole bit with the ambulance and Roman Reigns / Braun Strowman was more “Monday Night Raw-ish” than belonging on a pay-per-view, but aside from that, I liked the entire show. And Samoa Joe – Brock? I want more.

But enough of that. I’m awake and can’t sleep so why not do some of what I call “Facebook Q&A”. These are questions that have popped up on my Facebook timeline over the past few days, be it in one of the groups I participate in or just on my regular timeline. You (or someone) asked and I may as well answer… because that’s what I do. So…

What would you say is totally unforgivable?

Honestly, I can’t think of anything that is totally unforgivable. It has to be on a case by case basis and the context of the action and the person to decide why something happened and the circumstances surrounding the action to decide if I can forgive or not. Wait a moment. I will say that anything or anyone that purposely and intentionally hurts a child, be it sexual abuse, physical abuse or mental abuse, can not be forgiven. Or animals. Adults can defend themselves and often ask to be mistreated, but there is no reason at all for anyone to ever abuse or hurt a child or animal. That is the unforgivable sin. Anything else, it all depends on the details and why.

What is your dream car?

1972 Volkswagen Convertible.

Do you prefer the beach in the winter or the mountains in the summer?

I love the ocean, but hate the heat and the tourists. Mountains are beautiful, but I prefer the beach, preferably during the off-season winter months.

What’s the best job you’ve ever had?

I’ve had some great jobs to be sure with some amazing people. The one I currently hold, working at the local ABC Store is great and the people there are among the finest folks I’ve ever known. I loved working at the Sweepstakes place, playing manager and making my own hours while making great money. Delivering the newspaper for a couple of years was pretty cool and the volunteer work I currently do for the Food Bank is a blessing to do each and every week. But the best job I ever had has to be Dairy Mart. Dealing with some of the customers at times could be a headache, but the crew I worked with was not fellow employees, but instead they were family and still are to this very day. Some of the adventures I had because of that store, I can’t even speak of now because it would ruin marriages, relationships and reputations. Maybe some other day in a blog when I’m bored. I’ve met so many great people and had so many great jobs over the past 35 years, but for me, Dairy Mart will always be # 1.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?

For roughly a year and a half, I worked at a store called Servco here in Laurinburg. The store itself was okay and the customers were the typical lot, running from great to terrible. But the manager that we had, she was just plain awful. I’ve never met a more miserable person in my life and her attitude and pettiness rubbed off and affected everyone in the store. We did our jobs and the money was decent, but dealing with Lib every day was a chore, if she even bothered to speak to me, that is. Most mornings, she wouldn’t even give a “good morning” or “Hello” or anything unless it was to complain. I have never been so happy to leave a job as I did when I left that one to go work for a different company. The pay for the new job was less, but the hours were better and the atmosphere was a thousand times better too.

Who is the most unforgettable person you’ve ever met and why?

I have met so many people over the years and each and every one is unique and special in their own ways, but the one who stands out the most is my “Little Bro”, Michael. From the first time I remember knowing him, he knew exactly what he wanted to do, be a professional wrestler, and went for it. He is one of the most stubborn people I’ve ever known and when he sets his sights on something, he will not be stopped or held back. He’s outspoken, quick tempered, and if he doesn’t like you or feels like you’ve tried to do him wrong, you’ve had a bad day, but if you’re straight up and do right by him, you will not find a nearer or dearer better friend and that’s a shoot, brother. A great athlete. A great wrestler. A great man. And someone that, even if we were never to speak or see each other again, I know he’s a true friend, a true brother and one of the most real people I’ve ever met. The real deal and someone I will always be thankful to have as part of my life.

Can you love someone and not like them?

Absolutely. A person can’t control who they love, but “like” is a whole different thing. I have people that I “love”, but won’t go around because of what they do or how they act or any variety of reasons. I don’t like them or their ways and act accordingly. But once I “love” someone, that place in my heart is pretty much permanent.

Watermelon. Salted or Unsalted?

Salt is for popcorn or french fries. Watermelon is best without any extra seasoning.

And there you go. I think I’m going to go try and do the sleep thing again. It’s nearly 4:00am and I have to be up in a few hours to do stuff with my brother. I’m such a good person sometimes. He’d better love me for this. *laughs* Have a great one and I’ll catch you later, Alligator. Take care.
