Fact or Fiction

One of my favorite things to do is a format I “borrowed” from the folks at 411mania.com called “Fact or Fiction”. Generally, every weekend, I will take a look at current events in the world of entertainment / music and the world of professional wrestling, type up six comments and either agree or disagree and explain why. And usually, when I do this, I do it alone because let’s be honest here. This is my site and my opinion is the only one that matters. Just kidding. The truth is, I do 99.995% of my writing on impulse and getting someone else involved, while entertaining, also takes time, scheduling and planning ahead, three areas where I am stronly lacking at the moment. So I do it alone. At some, I hope to start involving others again, but for now, it’s just no feasible.

As for the statements today, they come from the pages of “Opposing Views”, an extremely liberal leaning political page that I subscribe to here on Facebook. Their opinions are slanted, but the articles are usually pretty good and the reader comments are… oh vey! Usually, I just do a Q&A called “Opposing Views”, usually on Monday, but I’m in the mood to switch things up a little bit. Plus, I’ve been slacking for the past couple of days and don’t feel like waiting until Monday to get all political. So with all of that being said, let’s just get right to it, shall we?

It’s time to kick the career politicians out of DC.

FACT: Nobody needs to hold an elected position for twenty or thirty years. If they haven’t been able to get their goals accomplished and make an impact in ten years max, they’re not going to to and need to be replaced to give someone else a chance. The old cliche’ is that “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely!” Washington D.C. is a foul, evil and sinful place and although the majority of elected officials have ideals and good intentions, the longer they’re swimming with the serpents, the more likely they are to become one as well and the agenda goes from helping the people to holding on to that power they’re experiencing, by any means necessary. Term limits are not only advisable, but extremely necessary.

It’s time for Democrats to dump Nancy Pelosi.

FACT: While part of me wants to say that they should keep Nancy and allow her to continue to lead the Democratic party, so that the Republican’s would win more and more often, this isn’t about what I want, but rather what is right and the facts are that for the Democratic party to be strong and prominent again, they need new and stronger leaders who are actually in touch with the American people and not living in a land of unicorns and rainbows, a delusional wonderland of their own imagination. Let’s be honest here. Pelosi is a basket case and out for one thing and one thing only, the power that comes with being Nancy Pelosi. Read what I said earlier about “power corrupts” and Pelosi is a perfect example. The sooner that she and folks of a like nature, like Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer are out of Washington and the Democratic party and new, younger, more moderate folks who live in the real world are brought in, the better. Otherwise, the Democratic party will continue to kill itself from the inside and eventually fall.

Obama was a weak president?

FACT: The only positive quality I can find for this former President is that he is a talented speaker, at least when given a script to follow. But aside from that, he was a disaster as a President. His policies were weak and short term fixes for the problems that our nation faces, doing more damage in the long run and kicking the can down the curb so future Presidents and the next generation will have to clean up the mess. Obamacare is the best example of this, built on lies and misrepresentations and while it gave more people insurance, it blew up the costs for the medical industry, made insurance totally unaffordable for many others and is unsustainable without totally destroying our economy. His military policy was one of “lead from behind” and making proclamations without any kind of follow-up. While the intentions may have been good, the results have most definitely not been. To say that President Obama has surpassed Jimmy Carter as the weakest and poorest President of the past 150 years is an understatement to be sure.

There are only two genders: Male or Female.

FACT: On a purely physical basis, this is true. Thus, it’s fact. While people may have issues and not “identify” as the sex that they were born or raised as, coming out as transgender, that doesn’t change the fact that biologically, a person is either born with a penis, thus they are “male” or with a vagina, thus being “female”. Anything else that comes along later is simple logistics and a mental or social issue. I’m being technical here and with that in mind, only two true physical genders actually exist. The rest of it is mental and psychological.

Trump is handling foreign policy better than Obama did.

FACT: Trump actually has a foreign policy in place and seems to be trying to protect American interests and put America first, as it should be, rather than lead from behind and put international interests ahead of American interests like Obama was noted for doing. Trump doesn’t apologize for the United States being great and the strongest country in the world. Obama did constantly and seemed determined to make our nation secondary to the rest of the world rather than at the top of the ladder, as we should be. On this, Trump is definitely doing a better job.

Comment the one word you would use to describe Donald Trump.

“President” – ‘Nuff said!

And there you go. And I managed to get that written without my phone going off until the very last question. How did that happen? Usually, I try to write something and my phone starts blowing up. I guess since I’ve had to switch phones and only one person calls this new / old number anymore, that might have something to do with it. But whatever the reason, it was nice.

And now, I’m out of here for now. I think I still have a “Music Fact or Fiction” to write and I’ve got an idea for an Intergalatic group of Avengers fan fic bouncing around in my head too that I want to go play with and maybe turn into a new fan fiction story.
