Tossing Salt Wrestling Fact or Fiction

Well, I’m waiting on a text message so I can go out into the hot day and suffer. I love my family, but some of the things I do for them? *sighs* As “Mean Gene” would say, “Give me a break!”. But ain’t nobody gonna break my vibe. I’m going to go out, chill and have fun… even if I have to kill someone to do so. And before I go, let’s do a very quick edition of that “Wrestling Fact or Fiction” thing I do each Sunday. You know how this works. The statements come from my friends over at 411mania.com/wrestling. And the answers are from me. Let’s get to it, shall we?
1. The recent drama between Paige & Alberto El Patron doesn’t surprise you.
FACT: Ever since day one with these two, it’s been bad news and trouble after trouble. They’re both adults and whatever they want to do is their business, but it doesn’t pass the smell test. There’s a lot of bad things going on here with these two and it’s only going to get worse before it gets better at this point. I know all about toxic relationships, via my own experience and watching those close to me and I can see all the signs of tragedy just waiting to happen. If something doesn’t happen soon or someone doesn’t intervene, we might end up with another Benoit on our hands. And no, that’s not an exaggeration.
2. AJ Styles winning the US Title at a house show was a great move by WWE.
FACT: Why not? It just makes the fans think that anything can happen, even at a house show and even though we know that this is the exception rather than the rule, it still gives up hope and reasons, aside from just seeing our favorite superstars, to come out and see the local events. Glad to see it happening.
3. You were surprised to see WWE include Dixie Carter on the recent WWE: 24 Kurt Angle special.
FICTION: I admit to doing a double-take at first, but it makes sense. Dixie was Kurt’s boss and associate for the majority of the time that he was away from the WWE. TNA is a big part of his career and she’s not a part of TNA anymore so why the hell not. They’re close and friends and if the WWE wants to get the full story about Kurt and do him right with that era of his career and if Dixie is available, why not use her? It’s only logical.
4. You have very little interest in the Cena vs. Rusev flag match at Battleground.
FACT: It was just kind of thrown together, makes little sense and has a strong been there / done that feeling to it. This was the best that they could do for Rusev upon his return from injury? And this is the best that they could do for the returning hero, John Cena, upon his return from other activities? Really? Both men could be and deserved to be used better. This match is just lazy booking and boring to me.
5. You like that WWE is allowing Pete Dunne to defend the WWE UK Title on an ICW show in late July.
FACT: They may as well let him wrestle and defend the title since the WWE isn’t really using him for anything right now. They should be using him as a traveling champion, showing up on Raw, Smackdown and 205, to build up and defend his title while waiting for the next European tour, but instead, he’s just kind of there, being wasted and not used. At least appearances like this keep his name out there and keep the title visible. That has to count for something so good for them.
6. What’s your level of excitement for the Mae Young Classic?
I’m tying and trying to get pumped for this event, but so far, it just isn’t happening. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’ll give it a six with hope that as time passes and I have more time to watch things develop on the Network and at the sites, my interest will pick up. So far though, it’s just not happening.
And that’s all for now. I guess it’s time to head out and do that stuff that I do. Thanks for reading. Comments and thoughts are welcome. And I’m Doug and I’m outta here. Take it light.
Ubuntu!
