Tossing Salt Wrestling Q&A

Are you ready to talk some professional wrestling? These are just a few of the questions pertaining to the world’s greatest sport that I found earlier today on Facebook. Happy 5th Birthday to the KoK. Let’s just jump right to it, shall we? And away we go…

Are there any wrestlers that have not written a book, but you’d love to see them write one?

I’m not sure if he ever wrote a book, but I know a play of the life of Baron Von Raschke was made. I’d love to see a book by the great Baron as well discussing his career and telling stories from the late 60’s and the WWWF to the AWA in the early 90’s. Another book I’d love to see is Lisa “Ivory” Moretti discussing her unique journey from GLOW to the WWE and everywhere in between. The stories that woman could tell. And if Barry Windham or Tully Blanchard ever cut loose and do a book, I will definitely be so there. And lastly, Tony Schiavone. From Crockett to the NWA / WCW to WWF and then back to WCW and now working in baseball and doing the podcast. He’s seen it all and his stories, especially about backstage at WCW and Nitro, would be amazing.

What are the Vegas odds that Bayley will be revealed as Kurt Angle’s illegitimate daughter next week on Raw?

I can think of a lot of possibilities for the Kurt Angle revelation, but somehow, I don’t think any of it will have anything to do with Bayley.

What other tournaments could WWE have? They have had the Crusierweight Classic, now the Mae Young Classic and next summer will be the Dusty Roads Tag Team Classic opening it up to international Tag teams, but what other genre of wrestling can be highlighted in a way of a Tournament to bring in more talent?

How about the Lord Littlebrook Invitational with 32 midgets from around the world competing for an honored trophy. Maybe an expanded King of the Ring with a mixture of contracted talents and independent stars to help create new stars. And how about a “Legends” tournament where past Superstars come back to earn “one more run”.

Is The Miz the greatest IC champion of the modern era (1992-present)?

Yes, because he’s the Miz and he’s… wait for it… AWESOME!

Name a match you wanted to see that will probably not happen now.

The obvious match is Sting versus Undertaker, but how about CM Punk versus Finn Balor? How about Kevin Owens versus Vader? And what about Charlotte Flair versus Trish Stratus? For that matter, I remember a tease about the Bellas versus Lita and Trish, “Team Bestie”. I’d love to see that.

So Jeff Hardy has his face paint back. Do you think this is for the Broken gimmick or is it a sign that they will be split up & it’s just for his singles run?

Why does it have to mean anything? Maybe Jeff just felt like breaking out the face paint for a change and giving the live crowd a great nostalgia moment. Jeff is too banged up and just a shadow of what he was so I don’t think he’ll get any kind of major push as a singles star in today’s WWE. If anything, it’s a tease for the possibility of the “Broken Universe” coming to WWE.

Question: Has the Rhodes family been accomplished enough to be considered one of the “great families of wrestling”? (ie: Harts,Guerrero,Colons,Von Erichs etc)

It’s Dusty Rhodes, Cody Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes, not to mention Dustin’s ex-wife Terri Runnels and Cody’s current wife, Brandi Rhodes. I think the accomplishments of these men and women speak for themselves. A “great family of wrestling”? Absolutely.

What’s your all time favorite tag team?

It’s a tough call because do I pick the team I loved to watch more than any other for so many years, the Midnight Express? Or do I go with arguably the greatest wrestling tag team of all time, Ole and Gene, the Anderson Brothers? I can’t decide because both teams are so awesome and so heads and tails above 98% of the tag teams wrestling today. Ole and Gene wrote the book on tag team wrestling, but the Midnight’s wrote the revised edition and plus they have Jim Cornette in their corner. I have to go with Bobby and Stan on this.

So what year did we all get into wrestling ? It was 1998 for me!

I went to my first live match, I believe in 1972, but I didn’t really start getting into it and understanding it until I was a little older in 1977. And I’ve been hooked ever since.

McGregor versus Mayweather – who wins?

I would love to see McGregor beat the holy hell out of Mayweather, but the odds are against him, especially since this is a traditional boxing match and plays to all of Mayweather’s strengths and none of McGregors’. The only way that McGregor can win is to knock Mayweather out. If it goes the limit or to any kind of decision, Mayweather gets it. There is no way that the judges will award any kind of points victory to McGregor and the fix is probably already in. It’s all stacked in Floyd’s favor and it’s up to McGregor to defy the odds and pull a miracle or Mayweather gets the arm raised at the end of the night.

And there you go with another edition of the “Wrestling Q&A” in the books. Thanks for reading. Questions, comments, thoughts and mixed drink recipes all welcome. And now, I’m down and I’m gone. See you next time. Have a great one.
