Opposing Views is a left-leaning page on Facebook that likes to poke the bear and cover political news. While the agenda they claim not to have is obvious, the site is still entertaining and educational. And the wide variety of politically orientated questions they ask their readers are great. The answers and comments will make your head explode from some of the ignorance and blatant stupidity that often passes for answers. And most of the comments? Oh vey!. But as I said, I like the questions they ask… and now I’ll answer the questions they ask, or some of them anyhow. Let’s go for it and do this…

Is Trump’s behavior unpresidential?

That all depends upon your definition of “presidential”. Was sleeping around with hundreds of women while married presidential? JFK did it. Was holding a dog up by the ears unpresidential? Lyndon Johnson did that. How about sleeping with interns, lying under oath and committing perjury. Was that unpresidential? Bill Clinton at your service. How about lying to the American public repeatedly on television and in interviews to see a piece of legislation? President Obama and his “Obamacare” promises. Trump dances to the beat of his own drummer. That’s pretty obvious. And he’s unique in his manner, his personality, his behavior, etc. from every President we’ve had before. Every single person who has been elected to the White House has rewritten the rules and standards of what is and isn’t “Presidential”. Some have raised the bar and others have lowered it to new depths. I don’t approve of everything that Trump does, but I’m not the President and I can’t honestly judge him or anyone else for how they handle the pressures of the job and everything that comes with it. The bottom line is what the President accomplishes and if things get better or not as we move along. Everything else is just conjecture and not important in the slightest.

President Trump’s six-month approval rating is in, and Americans gave him the lowest score in history.
Do you approve or disapprove of Trump?

Compared to what we have had for the past eight years… and compared to what the alternative was in the election last November with Hillary, I definitely approve of President Trump and what he’s managed to accomplish and is trying to do.

Gen. John Kelly, Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary, has ordered immigration agents to use every law in the books to stop illegal immigration. Do you support his approach?

Illegal immigration is called that because that’s exactly what it is… illegal. These people decided that instead of coming to this country the right way, the legal way, using the system designed to allow them to become citizens, they’d rather sneak in and be criminals. And that is exactly what they are. The laws are on the books to be used by law enforcement and immigration officers to do their job, stopping criminals. If the agents are not going to use those laws and enforce those laws, what was the point in making them to begin with. General Kelly is doing his job. Kudos to the man for that.

Are you proud to call Mike Pence your vice president?

Pence would not have been my first pick as Vice President, just as Trump was not my first choice for President, but so far, he’s doing a fine job and I have no problems with his job performance. And he’s definitely a million times better than the alternative, Tim Kaine of Virginia. That man just oozes sleaze and incompetence in my eyes.

Yes or no: Did the Obamas represent America with class and dignity?

In my opinion, NO! The last two Presidential couples that we had in the White House that personified class and respect were George H.W. Bush and wife Barbara and his son, George W. Bush and wife Laura. The Clintons were a joke to be sure, the Obama’s were just as bad and the jury is still out on Donald and Melania. She’s actually comes across as really classy. And Donald… he’s a former New York real estate developer so what do we expect, right?

Describe Bill Clinton in one word.

Charismatic

President Trump says he’ll be encouraging stores to say ‘Merry Christmas’ instead of ‘Happy Holidays’ this December. Do you support that?

I personally feel that we should say what we want, be it Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Seasons Greetings or whatever feels right. However we should not have to be worried about hurting someone’s feelings or being called racist or bigot if we use the wrong term in someone else’s opinion. There has been a backlash for the past several years against people who use the traditional greetings during the holidays and that’s wrong. Just go with the flow and let people use the term that they prefer and are most comfortable with. If you’re offended, too bad. Get over it. It’s just an expression or phrase and the intentions are well meaning. So yes, I do agree with Trump about this.

Newt Gingrich called Hillary Clinton one of the most corrupt politicians in U.S. history. Do you agree with him?

Saying Hillary is corrupt is like calling the sky blue, the rain wet, Bill Clinton a “horny old dog” or me a “sexy beast!”. It’s true – it’s damn true. And Hillary is one of the worst of the worst. Yes, she is that damn bad! Even Satan looks at her and says, “Damn, that bitch can lie!”. ‘Nuff said!

And that’s all of that for tonight. I would do more, but “Arrow” is calling and I need to finish up Season 5 on Netflix. Thank you for reading. Thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated. Tell me what you think.

Until the next time, I’m Doug and you’re not…
