Tossing Salt Music Fact or Fiction

Roughly twenty-four hours ago, I went over to 411mania.com/music to see if they had posted the latest edition of their “Fact or Fiction: Music” yet, hoping that it was up and I could “borrow” their questions and do my own take on it. It wasn’t up yet, running six days late from their usual posting day, so I decided to just wing it and go with a “Pop Culture” edition of “FoF” instead. Well, someone over at 411 has taken note and is back on the ball as just a few minutes ago, they posted their “Music FoF”. And now, I’m going to do mine. So are you ready? I said, “Are you ready?”. This never works well with the writing format, but yet I keep trying. Go figure. Let’s do this…
Green Day aren’t to blame for performing immediately after an acrobat’s death.
FACT: The way I understand it, Green Day had a show and before they went on, a man named Pedro Aunion Monroy died. I don’t know the details of how he died, but Green Day performed immediately after the man died and are getting a lot of criticism about it. The way I understand it, they didn’t know that the man had died and were told that there were “security issues” that resulted in a temporary delay of the show. If they didn’t know about the death, how can they be blamed for going on and doing their show? Simple. They can’t.
Kesha’s new track ‘Praying’ is one of her best ever.
FACT: One thing I like about doing this column is that it makes me listen to and experience artists that normally, I wouldn’t pay the slightest bit of attention to or care about. Kesha is one of these artists. I went and listened to her song and it’s pretty decent. It’s authentic and real and has some great lyrics. Is it her best? I’m not sure, but compared to the few other songs by Kesha that I’m familiar with and have listened to, this definitely blows them out of the water and is far better. She’s no Jessi Colter or Alice Cooper or even close to their league of talent, but this song, I like.
You didn’t care for Meek Mill’s Meekend Music II EP.
FACT: Not my kind of music at all and Meek Mill who? I did go over to YouTube and listened to a few songs and well, they were nothing special in my eyes. Just boring, bland and eh! How do these people even get recording contracts? His music sucks!
Ed Sheeran made the right call in leaving Twitter over abuse.
FACT: I want to make jokes here about what a wimp this guy is and how he needs to grow a set, but I’m not going to go there. If he didn’t like the abuse and comments he was getting on Twitter from “fans”, then he was right to delete his account and take a break from the world of Tweeter-Twatter social media. That’s actually a wise and smart move by Mr. Sheeran. Probably still needs to grow a set, but if that’s not an option, leaving the scene of the abuse and going back home to his safe-place is probably a good idea.
You enjoyed Tyler the Creator’s “911/Mr. Lonely.”
FACT: Another artist that I’ve heard of, but had no idea of who he is or what he sings. I went to YouTube and listened to this track. Yeah, I liked it. Sounds like some good stuff.
Kanye West and Jay-Z will quietly resolve their Tidal legal issues.
FICTION: We’re talking about Kayne here. Does he do anything quietly? I’m sure that Jay-Z would prefer to just sit down together with their lawyers and work things out nice and quietly, under the radar with a mutually beneficial agreement. Kayne though, is an idiot, an ego maniac and has to be the center of attention and stir the pot because that’s just what he does. Personally, I’d like to see the two men get into a steel cage and fight it out with the winner getting Beyonce and then leaving to some small island far away to live forever. And the loser can go be Eminem’s pool boy or something like that. Eventually, they’ll get their legal issues worked out, but it will be neither pretty or quiet. It’ll be just another Kayne moment where nobody truly wins.
And there you go. Another Music Fact or Fiction put to bed. And speaking of bed, that’s where I’m headed to (I hope). Thanks for reading. Comments and questions are welcome. And on that, I’m down and gone. Have a great night and I’ll catch you on the flippy side.
Ubuntu!
