Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Fact or Fiction

It’s been a few days since I’ve posted anything and yes, I am a slack-ass. I admit it. It’s been a wild and crazy past few days though. Not really, but that sounds good. I’ve just been busy and depressed and stressed and did I say busy? I thought I had. Let’s just get to it and do this “Fact or Fiction: Wrestling” thing that I do each week. As per the usual, the statements come from my good, close personal friends at 411mania.com/wrestling. And the comments and opinions that follow, that is all me. Let’s do this…
1. You liked the reveal of Jason Jordan as Kurt Angle’s son on Raw.
FICTION: I don’t necessarily hate it, but liking it isn’t really the best way to describe my reaction to this big reveal either. It’s more like whatever, let’s see how this goes. I guess this is better than an affair with Stephanie or Dixie Carter being the new Co-GM of RAW, but it’s so Russoish, it’s almost silly. I’m sure that Jordon will get a push from his and I have a feeling that when all is said and done, it’ll be revealed as a plan devised by Jordon and Corey Graves to fool Angle and the WWE Universe and maybe even lead to a big match with Jordon versus Angle at Wrestlemania. Who knows? We just have to wait and see where it goes. So I don’t hate it, bit it’s more of a “wait and see” thing instead.
2. Jinder Mahal will retain the WWE Title at WWE Battleground.
FACT: If he doesn’t retain the title, this whole Jinder experiment has been a big waste of everyone’s time.
3. You want to see Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar at Summerslam.
FICTION: While if this match happens, I won’t be too upset, I’d much rather have Joe versus Brock II and maybe have Roman versus Strowman II as well. If there is a 4-Way match I can see it being used as a way to take the title off of Brock without having him actually lose the title, thus keeping him strong, but I’d rather see Joe get a clean win for the belt, pinning the champion (Brock) in a one-on-one deal SummerSlam is going to be 4-plus hours long and they have room for two matches instead of one. I’d rather see them go that direction instead.
4. You are disappointed that Talking Smack (as a weekly show) got canceled.
FACT: Often times, the action and talk on Talking Smack was better than the wrestling action on Smackdown Live, as when Miz and Daniel Bryan went back and forth, and it was a fun and entertainng show. Maybe it wasn’t “scripted enough” for Vince’s tastes, but it show a different and more real side of the wrestlers and personalities of Smackdown and it allowed them to stay in character, but also shoot a little bit too. Cancelling it was a sad move on WWE’s part and hopefully, they’ll change their mind and bring it back sooner rather lhan later.
5. WWE will do a full Shield reunion before the end of 2017.
FACT: Seth and Roman have already made their peace and were teaming on occasion. Ambrose and Roman get along and were shown together on occasion. Now Seth and Ambrose are working together and mending fences. A SHIELD reunion will happen. It’s inevitable.
6. What’s your level of excitement for WWE Battleground on Sunday?
I’ve got a lot going on and my current stress level is high so watching a wrestling pay-per-view isn’t really at the top of my agenda for today, but I expect it will be a good show and once I take care of the things I need to do, I’ll probably sit down and unwind, relax a bit and enjoy the show. I’d say I’m running about, on a scale of one to ten, about an 7.5 or maybe even an 8. The show will deliver. I’m pretty sure about that.
And that’s all of this for now. Two facts, three fictions and an “8”. Not a bad day’s work, I think. And now, I have to head out and do stuff because stuff needs to be done and I’m the one who has to do it. I’ll catch you later, my friends. Comments, questions and bad jokes are welcome. Take it light and it’ll be all right. Have a great one.
