Part Four of Five

At a site called MarcandAngel.com, I found these awesome questions. There are no right answers and there are no wrong answers. There is only what I answer. Yeah, that sounds cool to me too. So here is a five-part series where I will tackle all “50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind”, ten questions at a time. Will it free my mind? That’s the theory. My mind could use a good escape sometimes and this is cheaper than renting a motel room and getting drunk so… :Let’s do this and see what happens. Thoughts, comments and questions are all welcome and appreciated. And away we go…

At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?

I would say during a one-night stand a few weeks away with a certain special someone, but where there was once magic and electricity, it was just kind of “eh” at best. As B.B. King used to sing, the thrill is gone. I honestly can’t think of any particular time as of late. Maybe when I’m writing and I get into the “zone” where it all comes together and magic happens. Or if a physical life moment is the best answer, when I’m with my brother and his mini-me, just being one of the guys at the college, feeding the ducks and just having a great day of it.

If not now, then when?

When the stars are alligned, the moon is full and the time is just right.

If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose?

Nothing but time and a little bit of effort. If it’s worth doing, then it should be done or else it really isn’t worth doing in the first place, at least not to me.

Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever?

There are a few people in my life, who are so real and dear to me and the relationship is so true, that often we can be together for hours and never say more than ten words, yet I understand everything they’re saying and vice versa. I have probably four or five people like that in my life where full, drawn out conversations can be held, yet barely a word is spoken. It’s a great feeling and these people are rare and amazing and mean everything to me.

Why do religions that support love cause so many wars?

Because mixed into the message of love is also the message of we’re right and only our way of worship is right and we love you so much, we’re willing to kill you to make sure you realize just how strong our love and message is. The line between love and hate is so thin, it’s often mixed up and confusing to the masses blindly following their religious leaders and just like insanity and genius, they speak one but act the other. Why it happens, I do not know, but it’s sad and scary and dangerous.

Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil?

Not really because almost any deed, no matter how good or how bad, can usually be justified in some way and there are also always consequences for every deed, which may mor may not have the desired effect. For every evil deed, it can be countered with a “but” and the same goes for the good. There is no black or white – only shades of gray.

If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?

If you’re speaking of my job getting people liquored up and providing customer service to the masses, the answer is no. I like my job and I like the people I deal with each and every day, most of them anyhow. My co-workers are awesome and I consider them friends as well as fellow workers. I may not work quite as many hours at the store, but working and being out there is important to me and I would keep doing it as long as I can.

Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing?

More work because less work gives me too much free time to think and in my case, over think about things. And if it’s something I love to do, even better.

Do you feel like you’ve lived this day a hundred times before?

Well, today has actually been an usual day for me in that I didn’t do Food Lion for the Food Bank, and this is only the second time I’ve missed a day in almost ten years, with the exception of when I was in the hospital so that’s different. And plus, I didn’t have my Blazer since we took it this morning to get the brakes worked on. I’ll be going to pick it up in a few minutes when George calls. So this particular day has been different and unusual for me. Most days though, I must admit, have that whole “been there / done that / dejavu” feeling to them where it’s just another day going through the motions.

When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in?

That was the day that http://www.tossingsalt.wordpress.com died and DougMaynard.com was born. No more procrastination, but time to get busy and get real. And I did.

And there you go with Part 4 of 5 now in the books. I have to go pick up my Blazer now and then come back to get ready for work so that’s all for me for now. Tonight is RAW so I’ll probably end up doing something while I watch my wrestling and Part 5 will be up later tonight or in the morning as well. Thanks for reading. Have a great one and I’ll catch you later.
