What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me? I guess we’ll never know because my singing days ending with my drinking days. I used to love to sing and did karaoke quite often when I was younger. I was actually pretty good too. But as I’ve gotten older, my voice is gone and my throat is shot to hell and I don’t sing anymore except for my own amusement. And all of that has absolutely nothing to do with anything. It’s time to do that “Music Fact or Fiction” thing that we do each week around here. The statements come from my friends over at 411mania.com/music. And the rest of it comes from me. Let’s just get to it and do it. I promise not to sing.

The latest claims against R. Kelly will amount to nothing.

FACT: Just a lot of baseless rumors mixed with he said / she said and no actual proof or evidence to be found, kind of like the Trump / Russian collusion except for this might actually be important to someone. I have no doubt that Kelly is a freak and a perv, but then again, who isn’t, right? This is all someone getting mad and looking for some money and nothing more.

You don’t see Linkin Park continuing in the wake of Chester Bennington’s death.

FACT: They may continue for a while, but I doubt it. Chester Bennington was not only the front man, but was a large part of the creative force and heart of the band and nothing for the group will ever be quite the same. Better to cut the losses, call it a day and everyone move on with whatever comes next. It won’t be Linkin Park though.

Ed Sheeran’s Game of Thrones cameo was out of place.

FACT: Everyone is talking about it and how distracting it was for them to see Sheeran pop up on that show, but since I don’t watch that show or give a damn one way or the other, I’ll just have to take their word for it. The people who watch that crap should know and they said it was out of place. I’m just agreeing with them.

A Starz series about Mariah Carey’s life would be interesting.

FICTION: Mariah has a great voice, or did at one time, but she’s stale, boring and I have absolutely no interest in any kind of movie or series about her. Save it for talents that actually relevant and matter.

You’re not impressed with the video for ‘Kill Jay Z.’

FACT: I went and watched it on YouTube and while it’s an okay video, it isn’t anything special in my eyes. But then again, Jay Z. ceased to matter to me a long, long time ago. Oh wait, he’s never mattered all that much to me. Oh well. My bad!

Chester Bennington was an underrated singer.

FICTION: He had a really strong and moving voice and some fantastic energy while on stage, but I also think people noted this and recognized his talents and ability. So underrated? Nah, he was good and we all knew it.

And I think that’s all for now. Now I’m really going to bed. It’s nearly 5:00am and what the hell am I still doing up anyhow. Comments and thoughts are welcome.
