Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Fact or Fiction

It’s time to quit writing about dirty elbows and get back to the subject we all know and love the best, professional wrestling. It’s Sunday night, well actually Monday morning, but why be technical, and it’s time to do that whole “Fact or Fiction” thing we know so well. The statements come from my friends over at 411mania.com/wrestling. And the answers / statements, be it fact or fiction, come from me. Let’s do this…
1. WWE Battleground was the worst WWE “major show/PPV” of the year.
FACT: I actually enjoyed most of the show to be honest, but so far as in comparison to all of the other pay per views thus far this year by WWE, it was lacking in a major way. The matches were solid and everyone worked hard, but that’s common for a WWE event. But the screwy finishes, such as a DQ finish in the Corbin – Shinsuke match, the out of nowhere pin in the Owens / AJ match and just all of the shenanigans at the end of the Orton – Jinder match, took away from the event. And watching Super Cena bury Rusev was annoying. The show, all in all, was entertaining and all that, but the memorable moments were not the good ones and I haven’t even bothered to go back and re-watch the show at all, something I usually do for most events to see what I missed the first time around. That right there should say all that needs to be said.
2. You have no desire to see a potential Wyatt Family reunion.
FICTION: I would like to see it if only to get Luke Harper back on television and in a prominent spot on the roster. Bray has kind of drifted since losing his “family” and Harper and Rowan have been totally forgotten. They all deserve better and if a reunion of the Family is what it takes to get these guys going again, so be it.
3. Rey Mysterio would be better off signing with GFW instead of WWE.
FACT: Rey’s knees are a mess and he was barely able to stay healthy during his last WWE run, so what makes anyone think he can handle it any better this time around. If WWE was to bring Rey in as a cruiserweight version of Jericho for the 205 brand, with a limited schedule, that could work, but I don’t see Rey being worth the trouble and effort any more. Let him go to GFW, where he has never worked before, work their extremely limited schedule and stretch a few more years out of his career. That’s probably the best move for him at this point.
4. WWE is rushing the first John Cena vs. Shinsuke Nakamura match.
FACT: A match like this should definitely have more build than just a week’s notice. It’s Cena and Nakamura and it’s probably one of the few dream matches left to be had. Maybe if there’s a screwy finish and that leads to a major storyline leading up to another, more high profile match, it’ll be okay, but this hot shotting of star matches is dumb and needs to stop.
5. WWE is likely building to a Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens match, and it’s a match you want to see.
FACT: Why not. Shane can go in that ring and Owens is about as anti-authority as it gets and it would be a damn good match to see. Just so long as Owens wins, I’m all for it. Bring it on.
6. You’d be down for a match between the Four Horsewomen (Banks, Bayley, Becky & Charlotte vs. Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir, Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke) in WWE.
FACT: While I prefer the WWE Horsewomen being singles stars and making their own way, I can see the appeal of this match. It transcends pro wrestling and could be a huge crossover event for the WWE and UFC. I’d have Ric Flair getting involved, as one of the original Horsemen and maybe even find a way to incorporate Tessa Blanchard into the mix since she’s also the daughter of one of the Original Horsemen, Tully Blanchard. This has all the makings of a major special event that could really be a big boom for the WWE’s women’s movement. Would I be down for it? Hell yes!
And that’s all for tonight. I’m awake now, but sleepy-time approaches and I have to be up way early in the morning to do some stuff. Thank you for reading. Thoughts and comments are welcome. Let me know what you think. And now, I’m down and gone. Have a great night and I’ll catch you on the flip side.
Ubuntu!
