Opposing Views

One of my favorite political sites on Facebook is a page called “Opposing Views”, where they claim to have no agenda, but the lean to the left is so obvious, even Whoopi Goldberg would call them biased, leftie snowflakes. But if you overlook the obvious dislike of Republicans and especially our current President, the page can be and is entertaining at times. Reading the reader comments will have your brain cells screaming in agony as they die a painful death, but the questions that the site sometimes ask can be insightful and intriguing. So what I’m doing here is listing the questions that the site has asked over the past couple of days and I’m going to answer them, as truthfully and honestly as I can. Yes, I’m giving my “opposing view”. So, since all of that has now been explained, let’s get political and do this. And the questions start… NOW!
Who was the better First Lady: Nancy Reagan or Michelle Obama?
Nancy was not the ideal First Lady for our nation, but she was the perfect “First Lady” for her husband, Ronald Reagan. No one can doubt her love for Ronnie and her top priority each and every day was to protect and look out for her husband. Michelle told us we were fat and said that she was never proud of this country until the day her husband was elected as President. I think my vote goes to Nancy.
Ted Cruz says the Obama administration made America the laughingstock of the world. Do you agree or disagree?
Does anyone remember the “Apology Tour” that Obama went on during the early part of his first term, actually bowing to other foreign leaders? Does anyone remember when Obama dared Syria to “cross the red line” or else there would be consequences. They crossed and he did absolutely nothing. Does anyone else remember all of the times that Obama went on television and made speeches to promote “Obamacare” and said repeatedly that insurance rates would not rise, deductibles would not rise and if you “want your doctor, you can keep your doctor”? Obama was a bad excuse for a President and leader and Cruz, if anything, was playing down just how bad Obama was and just how not respected he actually on the world stage. Even Jimmy Carter said Obama was a bad president and that’s saying something.
Was Obama the worst President of your lifetime?
In my lifetime, our Presidents have been Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump. Of this grouping, I would definitely say that Obama was the worst, followed closely by Jimmy Carter.
It could soon be illegal to wear a hijab in public in Georgia. Would the ban be a good or bad thing?
I’m going to surprise everyone here and say that this is not good. It’s a bad thing in that, if the hijab is banned, what’s next. It’s a slippery slope once we start taking away what falls under religious freedoms. I do think that there are places, like a bank, a court house, federal buildings, where it should not be allowed and businesses should be able to decide for themselves, much as they do with handguns, allowing or not allowing as to what the management feels is best. A total ban is not good, but there should be a happy medium where compromise can be met.
One June 29, 2017, Michael Tate Reed hopped in his car and intentionally smashed right through Arkansas’s brand new Ten Commandments monument. Do you think he should face heavy fines and jail time?
Destruction of public property, vandalism and unsafe movements with his car, among other charges. He may not like the “Ten Commandments monument”, but it’s not his place to decide for others. Arrest him, charge him and prosecute him to the full extent of the law, complete with fines, jail time and community service. Burn his ass!
Yes or no: Does our country need stricter gun control laws?
No, we have more than enough gun control laws out there. The only thing that more laws will do is punish the people who are responsible gun owners and make it harder for them to protect themselves from crime and bad people. The criminals, the ones who use guns, don’t care about the laws anyhow. Find ways to get the guns away from the criminal element or else allow the law-abiding gum owners to be able to defend themselves. Changing laws won’t do that. Enforcing the laws that we already have, will.
The state of Ohio just executed a criminal for the first time in three years. Do you support the state’s decision to bring back the death penalty?
Yes.
Alabama wants to pass a law requiring convicted child rapists to be castrated. What do you be in favor of that?
Actually, that sounds like a plan to me. Go for it!
Would you vote for Michelle Obama if she ran against Trump in 2020?
She’s never held any kind of political office, never run a business of any kind, and has absolutely no kind of leadership experience at all. The only job she’s ever had, as an attorney… well, her law license was revoked so obviously that didn’t work out very well. And she thinks we’re all fat. So my answer is… what do you think?
Was America better off with Obama in the White House instead of Trump?
Nope!
America accepts almost 85,000 refugees every year. Do you support America’s refugee policy?
I think that America is the greatest country on earth and one of the most welcoming and generous nations ever. And if anyone from another country wants to come here, legally, through the proper channels and methods, I would and do welcome them with open arms, as does our President and the majority of our nation. I only ask that these people are vetted, go through the process as required, and enter our nation legally. And those who enter our nation illegally or are here illegally, kick them out and send them packing back home until they’re ready to do things by the law, the right way.
The White House is engulfed in chaos and Republicans are yet to pass any major legislation.
Yes or no: Is Trump a failure as president so far?
Well, he did get a Justice on the Supreme Court, unemployment is down, the GNC is far higher and doing better than anyone expected it to do and the stock market is booming. Illegal immigration is down by almost 40% and our country was pulled out of a disaster of a deal on global warming that would have had no effect and would have cost us hundreds of billions of dollars. So, despite what the mainstream media and news networks might be saying, I’d say that despite the chaos, things are actually moving along and going well. And just how imagine how things would be if the Democrats would actually do the jobs they were elected to do and quit playing petty child games with the President and his policies. Maybe they should all give that a try for a change.
And that’s the end of my political stuff for today. Now it’s time to get back to wrestling, local gossip and whatever else crosses my desk. I hate Facebook right now. Just saying. Questions, comments and thoughts are welcome. Have a great one and I’ll holler at you later. Take care…
