Wrestling Q&A

I’m on a roll today! Nope, I’m just fat. Damn! Doesn’t matter though because I’m still a sexy beast. And I’m getting a lot of writing done today. Of course, it’s all Q&A stuff and nothing too deep or inspirational. My bad! I have a few things in mind and want to talk about, but time is limited and I don’t have the proper vibe going on right now. So I’ll do this stuff and have fun with it and ya’ll can read it and go, “this man is warped” and I’ll go “yeah… so!” and we’ll all be happy. It’s about the world’s greatest sport, pro wrestling. You’ve got questions and I’ve got answers. And I’m giving them… NOW! Let’s do this…
What’s the worst thing about the modern era of wrestling compared to the old school territory days?
The worst thing about today’s wrestling compared to the old days is that the wrestlers now are so generic and cookie-cutter. Same kinds of bodies, same scripted promos and the matches and storylines are just kind of “eh!”. Let the wrestlers cut their own promos, just using bullet points, and having their own words and personalities sell the events and shows. Wrestlers used to have personalities and that was what sold the shows. Now they read lines, have no emotions or feelings, and it shows. Why should a fan get all emotionally invested in a wrestler or a feud when it’s obvious even the wrestler isn’t. And I’d rather see a variety of looks and styles rather than clone 1 fighting clone 2. Diversity builds interest. Wrestling had it. Sports entertainment doesn’t.
With all the current talk about the “Four Horsewomen”, if WWE decided to put together a new incarnation of the 4 Horsemen, who would you have in the group?
If WWE was to decide to do something like this, they’d have to have either Ric Flair or Arn Anderson “manage” the group or else it’d never get over or work. Heck, it’s probably too late now for this name to ever be brought back and mean anything. But if it happened, I’d go with the formula used with the original Horsemen. A singles champ, a secondary singles champ and a tag team. Using the current WWE / NXT rosters, I’d have the team be Drew Galloway, Mike Kanallis w/ Maria, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.
If Brock leaves the WWE, would you rather see Paul Heyman remain with just one “client” or would you rather see him manage a group, aka a new “Dangerous Alliance”?
If Brock does leave, I hope Paul Heyman does decide to stick around for a bit longer. While having Heyman manage a new “Dangerous Alliance” would be great, I can’t see him wanting that responsibility of having to represent so many talents at once anymore. Probably just one client would be the way to go. I’d like to see Paul with a tag team though and see how that works out. Imagine Heyman as the “advocate” for The Revival. Or even representing Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. I think he would get them over in a way that none could imagine. It would be great.
Best and worst color commentators you can think of and why?
I’ll keep it easy here. The best overall was Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and the worst is David Otunga. Bobby is the best because he’s “The Brain”. Otunga is the worst because… what does he add to the commentary? Why is he even there? Because he’s married to Jennifer Hudson is why, but he sucks at this job. As a commentator, Otunga makes a great wrestler and we all remember how good his matches were, right? Oh vey!
If GWF gave you the opportunity to be a manager for their company, what wrestlers would you manage?
I’d rather work for a place where the checks are paid on time, but if the opportunity came up, I wouldn’t say no. And who would I manage? I’d have my client, Chris Masters, talk his buddy Carlito Colon, into signing up with the company and I’d manage Masters and Carlito to both singles and tag team gold. We would rock!
What is your Mt. Rushmore of tag team wrestling?
There are so many great teams out there to choose from, but my Mt. Rushmore (with five spots instead of just four because it’s MY Mt. Rushmore) would be The Anderson Brothers (Ole & Gene), The Midnight Express (Condrey, Eaton and Lane), The Rock & Roll Express, The Hart Foundation and The Road Warriors.
What match would you like to see main event Wrestlemania XXXIII?
How about James Ellsworth w/ Carmella versus Enzo in a “Certified G On A Pole” match.
Current WWE “Guilty Pleasure”
It has to be Titus O’Neil and the “Titus Worldwide” brand on RAW each week. I didn’t like Titus when he was wrestling and to be honest, I don’t much care for Apollo Crews or Akira Tozawa, but this whole thing with Titus in a managerial role has made all three of these men interesting. Now instead of using their segments for a bathroom break or time to check my Facebook, I actually watch. Yes, it’s hard to believe, but I support the “Titus Worldwide” initiative. Looking forward to see where this all leads to next.
And that’s all for today. Enough questions. Now it’s time to go get a shower and then go chill with my bro and the mini-me and go feed some damn ducks. Thanks for reading. Thoughts, comments and especially questions are welcome and appeciated. And as Porky Pig would say, “Mmmmmm! Bacon!”. Have a great one and I’ll see ya again soon.
