A late Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there and welcome to the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A, the only wrestlng Q&A that doesn’t pull the punches and tells it like it is, with no questions off limits. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Blackjack Mulligan & Barry Windham versus Cowboy Bob Orton & Randy Orton. Who wins?
Two great father and son teams coming to battle in what would be a very interesting and epic encounter. With all four men in their prime, I think Windham and Randy would match up pretty evenly and be able to go back and forth with every move. I think Blackjack though would have the advantage over Cowboy Bob and even though Bob would try and use his infamous cast, I think Mulligan would find a way to come out on top. Blackjack and Windham would get the victory and take that trip to the pay window.
AEW seems to be going all in with Skye Blue. How do you feel about that?
So far, from the little I’ve seen, Skye Blue seems impressive in the ring. Her promo skills seem to be a bit lacking, but she’s not awful. I’ll have to see more before making an opinion on her, but so far, so good.
The Montreal Screw Job. A work or a shoot? Your thoughts?
A worked shoot? I think Bret knew that something was possibly going to happen, but didn’t know the details until they played out in front of him. Vince did what he felt he needed to do when Bret refused to put HBK over and, work or shoot, it was a tragedy that things went the way they did, but it is what it is and it changed the world of pro wrestling forever.
Thoughts on The Fabulous Moolah?
A tough woman who loved money and power and found a way, through the control of and work of other women, to get it. She was a good wrestler, a strong businesswoman, and about had the moral convictions of a politician in Washington, DC. In other words, she was the perfect wrestling promoter. I wouldn’t want to cross her or get on her bad side, but I respect what she accomplished as a pioneer of professional wrestling. She’s an icon. She’s the Fabulous Moolah. ‘Nuff said!
Battle of the Doms: Dom DeNucci versus Dom Mysterio. Who wins?
Well, DeNucci passed away nearly two years ago at age 89, so Prison Con Dom would probably get the win, especially if he’s got Mami there to back him up.
Describe MJF’s title run in 3 words or less.
Could Be Better…
Jim Ross announced that he’s taking some time off to recover after falling again at his house and sustaining a nasty black eye. Is it time for Ross to hang it up and retire?
Ross is a legendary announcer, but with the numerous other announcers that AEW already has under contract, he’s not needed in the booth so taking time off from television and the announce table makes sense. If he remains part of AEW, a job behind the scenes in talent relations and dealing with the various personalities that are AEW makes more sense. Ross has experience in that role and could be a fair, objective voice who wouldn’t let friendships and personal relationships interfere with handling the contracts and behavioral issues that are so prevalent in the AEW locker room. If he can’t do that, then a full retirement is probably the best option.
Is CM Punk the wrestling version of Eminem?
Very popular, very divisive, arguably the best character on the roster, and persistent in his thoughts & beliefs, and unwilling to compromise. I think that’s a fair comparison.
What do you think of LA Knight so far in the WWE? Do you think he’s a main event, caliber-level superstar?
I think LA Knight has the talent and potential to be a huge name for the WWE with all the tools, but so far, he just hasn’t found the proper role and position. There are so many talented people and stories currently happening in the WWE right now that it’s easy to get lost in the crowd and get a proper and strong push. His time is coming though if he’s just patient enough to wait. LA Knight will be a top guy sooner rather than later.
The American Males versus The Young Bucks. Who wins?
Even now, older and slower, with a ton of ring rust, I think Buff & Riggs would take out the Bucks pretty easily. The American Males would win, as they should.
Ryback recently ran a poll asking, “Where would you like to see Ryback versus Goldberg?”, with the options being WWE, AEW, or retire. The results were AEW 24%, WWE 26%, and Retire 50% with nearly 5000 fans responding. Thoughts?
Over half say to retire and it’s on Ryback’s poll. The people have spoken. And Ryback needs to listen and just go away already.
Ricochet thinks Will Ospreay and Moose would benefit from having the WWE machine behind them. Agree or disagree?
I’ll agree. Moose has had a strong career in ROH and Impact Wrestling and the man has skills, but never really any kind of sustained push. With the power of the WWE machine behind him, Moose would be a strong mid-card player and make a ton of money. As for Ospreay, he’d be main event level in just a short amount of time and be a top guy with matches against Seth, Owens, Gunther, and Roman all in his immediate future. Moose and Ospreay are both good wrestlers with unique characters and skills, but they’ve never had the major kind of support only a place like WWE could provide. It’d be interesting to see them there.
Would you like to see Kofi Kingston back in the title picture as a singles star?
Kofi is a good wrestler and a talented guy, but at this point in his career, I think he’s better suited for tag team wrestling instead of any major solo runs. I just don’t see him as a top singles guy anymore.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and stay well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches. And dat’ is all de’ people need to know!
