Let’s talk wrestling. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
Did Vince’s buying of WCW, ultimately buying his competition do more harm than good? Or the other way around?
For a while, it hurt the business as things grew boring and stale since Vince and WWE had no competition. But honestly, it ended the experiment that was ECW and in the case of WCW, it was a mercy killing. But it also provided openings for TNA/Impact Wrestling and ROH to grow and flourish. So Vince gave pro wrestling a big boo-boo, but the business recovered and ended up stronger than ever. Everything worked out for the best.
Hollywood Hulk Hogan v. Hulk Hogan. Which was the better gimmick for Terry?
Without Hulk Hogan, the character of Hollywood would never have been possible. So with that in mind, even though I despised the Hulk Hogan character as a fan, it was the best role for Terry Bollea.
Would you rank John Cena in your top 10?
When listing the best wrestlers of the WWE from the past twenty years, I think Cena has to be included in the argument. If we’re talking about my top ten of all time, I’ve been a fan of wrestling since I was literally in diapers so that’s spanning well over fifty-plus years. And with that many names in the mix, Cena might make the top fifty, but the top ten, not so much.
Thoughts on Stan “The Man” Stasiak?
A tough old-school wrestler who, along with Ox Baker, made the heart punch the most terrifying finisher in wrestling. Stasiak was the perfect man to be the transitional WWWF Champion between Pedro Morales and Bruno Sammartino. I was a big fan of his son, Shawn Stasiak, and I can see, past the nonsense that Shawn often did, that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Stan is an iconic legend of the squared circle.
AEW Management (Tony Khan) has now seemingly issued a list of banned moves for AEW talent to follow. Thoughts?
I guess all the injuries, causing wrestlers to miss bookings and shows, and the hospital bills, have piled up too much and Tony needs to get some control over his company. It’s a good and smart move and much overdue.
Nick Wayne is All Elite. Thoughts?
I’m happy for this third-generation talent and I wish him the very best in his future career as an All-Elite talent. But that being said, I watched his debut match against Swerve Strickland and honestly, I wasn’t impressed. He wasn’t bad, but I didn’t see anything special either. Just another skinny, flip-floppy, pretend-wrestler. Maybe he’ll get better and grow on me, but thus far, I don’t get the hype.
Who was your favorite masked wrestler?
Bill Eadie, aka The Masked Superstar. When it comes to masked wrestlers, the true creator of the Cobra Clutch was absolutely one of the very best.
So Baron Corbin is driving through the woods, trying to find himself after leaving all of his old gimmicks behind and he came across a guy in a hoodie. Who is the guy in the Hoodie? Bray Wyatt?
Baron Corbin as part of a new Wyatt Family/Wyatt 6 faction? I like that idea. Book it, Triple H.
Sherri Martel & Luna Vachon versus Rhea Ripley & Asuka. Who wins?
This match would be fast-paced and have quite a bit of back-and-forth action. Four great characters who can work a good, solid match. I would love to see this. Asuka & Rhea would win.
We all have our favorite wrestlers of all time. Where does Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan rank on YOUR list?
The American Dragon is an amazing wrestler and talent and I have much respect for everything he’s done and accomplished during his years as a wrestler, but on my list of all-time greats, I honestly don’t think he’d make my top twenty. There are just too many others that I’ve seen and known over the years and I prefer over Dragon.
And there you go. Thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Please like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
