It’s another edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A, as I pull an Eminem and start cleaning out my closet. Let’s do this.
The Midnight Rockers versus The Rock & Roll Express. Who wins?
Shawn & Marty versus Ricky & Robert, in their primes, would be an excellent match. The copies versus the originals and damn, I’d love to see it happen. Hell, even today, it’d probably be a good match. Ricky & Robert would take the win here.
Thoughts on Rufus R. “Freight Train” Jones?
When I saw Rufus, it was for Crockett in the early 80s and the latter part of his career. Rufus was not a good wrestler, nor was he a good talker, but he was real and the people loved him. From all reports, he was a great person and he knew how to entertain and pop a crowd. Rufus was the original sports entertainer and few ever did it better.
Do you like dancing segments in AEW?
When used properly before or after a match or in a non-wrestling segment, dancing spots are fine if they add to the characters and make sense. But in the middle of a match, it’s just stupid and makes no sense. And the spot with MJF & Adam Cole versus Garcia and Sammy Guevera? That was entertaining, but in the context of things, it made no sense at all and was a dumb-ass moment.
Hulk Hogan versus Abdullah the Butcher. Who wins?
Hulk, of course. It’d be a DQ finish, but that doesn’t matter. Hulk would still be the man to get his arm raised in victory.
Who is your favorite wrestling podcast, besides Jim Cornette? Who is your least favorite?
After Cornette, I enjoy listening to Dutch Mantell regularly, as well as Konnan & Disco Inferno’s show too. And the worst? Is there anyone more terrible than Hannibal? If there is, I can’t think of who it would be.
Dom Mysterio versus Hook. Who wins?
Hook has been stagnant and hasn’t improved any since his debut with AEW. Dom has been getting better and growing, both on the mic and in the ring over the past year. Mami would get involved and Dom would walk out the winner.
What is missing from professional wrestling today?
Midgets. Bring back the little people. Wrestling events were so much better when they were part of the show.
If you had full antonymy and could bring any wrestler back to WWE who would it be?
Woo woo woo. Matt Cardona. You know it! I’d also bring back Curtis Axel and Heath Slater as well.
Thoughts on Diamond Dallas Page?
Dallas was an interesting character in that he started as a manager and commentator before making the transition to a full-time wrestler. And while his over-positive character could be annoying at times, he really grew and developed into a top star for WCW and then later, the WWE. DDP is the perfect example of believing in himself and exceeding all expectations. The best thing about Page though is not his wrestling career, but what he did afterwards. He established a form of DDP Yoga and started helping people get over their addictions and get their lives back. He helped Scott Hall, Jake Roberts, Buff Bagwell, and so many others. DDP has forever earned my respect for that part of his life. A decent wrestler, a good promo, and a good person who’s accomplished some great things.
Jungle Boy Jack Perry beat Hook for the FTW Championship, giving Hook his first loss in the process. Thoughts?
Well, Perry has to start somewhere with his new heel character and I guess killing any heat that Hook might have and making him look like a chump was the way they decided to do it. It’s a heel way to get things started so I guess that’s something. It is what it is. Now, let’s see what happens next.
In your opinion, is Jim Cornette a “shock jock”?
Nope. He’s just Jim Cornette and is the same Jim Cornette that everyone has seen and known for years. He’s not putting on a show for anyone. It’s just Cornette being Cornette.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Questions, thoughts, and comments are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well my friends, and I’ll see you at the matches.
