It’s not your father’s wrestling Q&A. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A, where anything goes and we always keep it real. I’m Doug and I’m your host with the most. Let’s do this.
Does Victoria (Lisa Marie Varon) belong in the WWE Hall of Fame?
This one is a no-brainer. Lisa Marie Varon, aka Victoria, for her career in WWE and TNA/Impact Wrestling, as Tara, is definitely worthy of a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame. The sooner, the better.
Who’s the real AEW World Champion? MJF or CM Punk?
Both men hold a legitimate claim to the title and an argument can be made for both MJF and CM Punk. I guess a title-unification match is needed because otherwise, it’s all just speculation. Book it, Tony Khan.
One Man Gang versus PN News. Who wins?
One Man Gang, of course. Yo Baby, yo baby, yo! And PN News gets squashed, as he should be.
Besides CM Punk, who is the one wrestler you wish would have never signed with AEW?
Claudio, aka Cesaro. With Triple H taking over creative for WWE, I think Claudio would have gotten a big push and more major opportunities under a Triple H reign, than he did under Vince McMahon. His career and role in AEW/ROH have been better than most of the roster, but to me, Cesaro will always be a WWE guy and that’s where he belongs, not in AEW or ROH.
Do you think that mass WWE main roster cuts are a thing of the past these days due in large part to the “don’t fire anybody” policy initiated by Triple H last summer?
I think roster cuts are a necessary evil every so often and despite Triple H now being the boss instead of Vince, they’ll still need to be done every so often to cut expenses and remove the dead weight from the roster. I don’t think we’ll see any mass cuts like 15 wrestlers in one day anymore, but adjustments will be made as needed, as they should be.
Better referee? Charles Robinson, Earl Hebner, Nick Patrick, or Tommy Young?
Of the four names listed, Little Naitch, aka Charles Robinson is the best in my opinion. Tommy Young was the best of his era, but the requirements for a good referee now are even stronger than they were then and Robinson checks all the boxes for what a great referee should be.
AEW has a packed Collision, featuring CM Punk vs Ricky Starks, with Rick Steamboat as the guest referee, running opposite SummerSlam on TBS. Which one are you watching?
That was earlier tonight and I watched SummerSlam, as did probably 98% of the wrestling fans with access to both. We can catch up with Collision via clips on YouTube and various websites.
Thoughts on Paul Heyman’s comments regarding Bobby Heenan during the ESPN Interview about being the GOAT of wrestling managers, Heyman said, “Screw him. He’s dead!”.
Paul was in character and said exactly what the character of the Wise Man of the Bloodline should say. And if Bobby Heenan heard this, he’s probably laughing because “The Brain” would have the exact same kind of response if asked the same question about being the GOAT of wrestling managers. It’s all about context and there was nothing wrong with what the Wise Man said.
Does “The Exotic” Adrian Street belong in the WWE Hall of Fame?
As I said with Victoria earlier, the answer is yes and he’s even much more deserving. With a career that lasted nearly fifty years, Adrian was unique in a world full of posers and fakes. Often imitated, but never duplicated, Adrian and Miss Linda were both iconic legends and the fact that they’re not yet inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame is an injustice that needs to be rectified.
The Elite (Omega, Young Bucks) w/ Adam Page versus The Judgement Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Dom Mysterio) w/ Rhea Ripley. Who wins?
Mami, aka Rhea, could probably beat up the entire Elite by herself, so when the rest of The Judgement Day is added to the mix, the EVPs of AEW wouldn’t stand a chance. The Judgement Day wins.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. I have a lot of catching up and writing to do. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for Logan Paul and the brass knucks. I’ll see you at the matches.
