It’s time to talk about the King of Sports. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
Logan & Jale Paul versus Ole & Gene Anderson. Who wins?
If we’re talking strictly about a pro wrestling event, the Minnesota Wrecking Crew of Ole & Gene should win. The Paul Brothers, especially Logan, are far better than they have any right to be inside that ring, but the Andersons essentially wrote the book on tag team wrestling and were legit as tough as they come both inside and outside that ring. So in the ring with an actual match, my money would be on Ole & Gene. In a street brawl fight, the Pauls might take them, but inside that squared circle, that was The Anderson Brother’s home.
Fabulous Moolah or Mae Young?
While Moolah was the brains and boss, Mae was the muscle and legit badass of the duo. I’ll go with Johnnie Mae Young every time.
Give me one word to describe Jay White in AEW.
Surprising.
Sable turns 56 years old today. What’s your biggest memory of the former Divas Champion?
Inside the ring, it was the bikini contest on RAW where she “won” by taking off her shirt and her breasts had handprints painted over them to cover the nipples, but nothing else. That was her bikini. And on a personal note, myself and two friends went to Fayetteville, NC to see her at a signing for an upcoming WWE event. She was clearly not happy to be there and didn’t speak or smile, but I got her to sign the cover of a wrestling magazine and won a t-shirt from the Radio Station Foxy 99, which was promoting the event
Just thinking about the whole Jack Perry storyline. Paul Wight was an ECW champion with the WWE rebrand. I know it was not during the FTW championship Era. But I’d love to see him get back in the ring against JP. Thoughts?
No, let’s not do this and say we did. Wight hasn’t been in a wrestling ring for several years and to be honest, based on that last appearance, probably shouldn’t do it again. Let’s stick with the real ECW and the people who wrestled there instead.
Kip Sabian has signed a contract extension with AEW. Thoughts?
Kip has been there since Day 1 and what has AEW done with him? He introduced Miro as the best man for his wrestling wedding to Penelope, got injured, and then sat in the audience for a year with a box on his head. And since he’s been back from the box, he’s done what? I’m happy that Kip will continue to collect a nice paycheck for doing nothing. He’s a good wrestler with a good look and capable of so much more, but AEW can’t figure out what to do with him. But he’s getting paid so I’m happy for him. I’m just not really sure why.
Jerry Lawler was the face of Memphis Wrestling. Could the territory have existed without him?
Memphis existed before Lawler and would have been okay if he hadn’t been a part of the territory and its history. It would have been a different look for Memphis Wrestling, but someone would have stepped up and filled in the void. Would it have done as well and been as successful? I doubt it, but it would have survived regardless.
Do you think Ronda Rousey is gone from WWE for good or will she eventually be back?
Sooner or later, when she gets tired of changing baby diapers or gets bored sitting at home, she’d be back for a match or two. There is no such thing as a true retirement in pro wrestling. They always come back.
Does the Shayna Baszler-Ronda Rousey match prove that MMA has no place in pro wrestling?
Pure MMA and professional wrestling are two different things and while there are similarities, they attract different types of fans. Baszler and Rousey are excellent at both forms of fighting/storytelling, but when at a wrestling event, stick to the wrestling and leave the MMA to the cage and UFC.
Speaking of Baszler, she has all the tools inside the ring but is a black home in terms of charisma and personality. How would you fix that?
It’s a simple solution, used in the past with people like Brock Lesnar and Umaga. They were monsters in the ring but were given a manager to talk for them. Baszler, under the guidance of Paul Heyman, would be an excellent thing, but if using a woman is preferable, how about Vickie Guerrero? Or Trish Stratus when she gets tired of being inside the ring? There are plenty of good former women wrestlers who can talk and generate heat. Just hook up Shayna with one of them and let her do what she does best, wrestle.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to share, like, and subscribe. And with that, let’s ring the bell and end this for the day. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
