As the game of catch-up continues, it’s yet another edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. You have questions and I have the answers. I’m Doug, your host with the most. Are you ready? Let’s go.

Who is the 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 champion in all of wrestling right now?

All of the top champions in WWE and AEW are currently either injured, wrestle rarely, or work for AEW, which means they only show up to do promos. And yes, that also applies to Roman. So the next champion, who wrestles and defends his title regularly, has to be Gunther.

Sheamus isn’t available. Who is Wade Barrett’s greatest rival?

I can barely remember who Wade Barrett used to wrestle regularly. I’m having a Senior Moment here. But I do remember the feud with The Nexus versus John Cena, so let’s go with that. John Cena.

Thoughts on Terry Taylor?

A good wrestler with a good look, but a little too white meat for my tastes. The whole Red Rooster thing in the WWE killed his career, and even though he regained some momentum in WCW as Terrance Tayor (The York Foundation) and The Tayor Made Man, he was never the same afterward. I think he found his true niche as a producer and trainer more than anything else and that’s probably where his biggest contribution to pro wrestling comes from.

Kamala The Ugandan Giant versus The Missing Link. Who wins?

These two fought many times in the old Mid-South and World-Class territories, and I think Kamala got the majority of the victories. If I was booking the match, he probably would. So I’ll go with Kamala.

Thoughts on Angel Garza?

A talented young man who was on a roll for a while, as part of a team with Austin Theory and Zelina Vega, but then got placed into a team with Humberto Carrillo, his real-life cousin, as part of Los Lotharios. And now, they seem to have taken Epico and Primo Colon’s spot on the roster as the tag team that looks great, but is only brought out for tours of Mexico and to do jobs. It’s a shame because Angel has all the tools to be a big name for WWE and a solid mid-card player at least, but instead, he’s being wasted and sitting around in catering. Garza is one of the men on the WWE roster who would benefit greatly by going back to NXT or going to AEW. He’s a talented wrestler but has been forgotten by Triple H and the so-called Creative Team.

Worse Gimmick: Big Bully Busick or Sparky Plugg?

Both were pretty bad, but of the two, Plugg was probably more of the cartoonish and annoying gimmick of the two. Being a bully has potential, but being a bad race car driver, not so much.

Brock Lesnar will eventually be a WWE Hall of Famer, but should he also be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame?

I would say so. Yes.

Thoughts on Marty Janetty?

A talented wrestler who never learned when to grow up shut his mouth, and give up partying and the wild life. I like Jannetty, but he has so much baggage, so many demons, so much craziness in his life, all of his own doing, he’s hard to take sometimes. He had the potential and talent to be a major star, but unfortunately, not the self-control or maturity. It’s a shame.

Santos Escobar should win the US Championship. It’s his time. Thoughts?

Not according to the WWE. Escobar had the match against Theory for Smackdown, but WWE with Rey Mysterio “stepping in” and winning the title instead. Maybe this will all lead to a major feud with Rey and Santos and if so, then good for him. Winning the title at a PPV against Rey will be a bigger rub than the match against Theory, who has grown remarkably stale as of late. His time is coming, but it seems not yet.

True or False: Dominik Mysterio will be a WWE World Champion in the next 5 years.

False. I love Dom and what he’s been doing. He’s grown and gotten so much better in the past year, it’s amazing. I can see Dom with tag team go,d, and maybe the US or IC title at some point, but the World Championship? I just don’t see that happening. I may be wrong and if Dom does win the WWE or Universal Championship, I’ll be among the first to cheer. But I just don’t see it.

For better or worse, who had a bigger impact on the pro wrestling business: Jim Cornette or Vince Russo?

Russo was the man who got into Vince McMahon’s head and helped spearhead the Attitude Era. Cornette is one of the greatest managers, announcers, promoters, podcasters, and personalities in the history of pro wrestling. His influence can be found all over the business today. So what parts of the business are we talking about because an argument for each person can be made in different areas? In my opinion, it comes down to this. Who is still relevant? Russo did some good things, but he’s just an afterthought more often than not these days. Cornette has the top two podcasts in professional wrestling and millions of fans still listen to his every thought and word. So by that standard, Cornette gets the win.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Also be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects. I’ll see you at the matches.
