Are you ready for some wrestling? I’m Doug and this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s roll.
How do you feel about the build for AEW All-In?
I think the build and promotion have been lackluster at best thus far, and AEW is focusing too much on the number of tickets sold than building a memorable and exciting show. They’ve waited until the last two weeks to start throwing matches out there for the show and the huge majority of the matches being named have no backstory or purpose. All we have to look forward to is that the show will be long, at least 5-6 hours, and essentially a cluster of 12-15 matches. I’m not excited or looking forward to it.
Rick Steamboat versus Booker T. Who wins?
I recently saw where these two have only wrestled once in their careers and that was part of some multi-man event in Germany. It’s a shame. But both men, in their prime, clashing, would be a good match. I think Steamboat would probably end up getting the win.
Family Feud: Jim Cornette, Gary Hart, Paul Jones, Sir Oliver Humperdink & Paul Ellering versus Paul E. Dangerously, Captain Lou Albano, The Grand Wizard, Freddie Blassie & Bobby Heenan. Who wins?
Who cares who wins? Can you imagine these ten men on stage together? Just with Cornette and Heenan alone, just imagine the one-liners. Now imagine Captain Lou doing Fast Money. This would be entertainment gold at its very best. If I have to pick a winner, I’ll go with Corny’s team, but it really wouldn’t matter.
What are your thoughts on The Dudley Boys?! These guys are no strangers to tag team gold!
A good and solid tag team, but a big overrated in my opinion. They’re a Top Ten team, but I’m just more into teams that can wrestle and had more of an NWA in-the-ring style than ones who depended on weapons and catchphrases. The Dudleys are good, but give me the Midnight Express or The Anderson Brothers anytime.
Austin Theory just lost the United States title to Rey Mysterio, a member of the LWO. What’s next for Theory?
I’d say he should recruit a few friends, look for some numbers to counter the presence of the LWO, and focus on getting his U.S. title back.
Charlotte Flair & Andrade reportedly break up. Reports are that the two wrestlers are separated and will be divorced soon. Thoughts?
Wrestling is a business that is tough on relationships, especially when the couple work for different companies. Plus add in the cultural differences, plus the usual pressures of life, and making any relationship work is a hard thing to do. I hope that both Charlotte & Andrade work out what’s best for them, do what they need to do, and have happy and successful lives.
How about this for a twist: what if both MJF and Cole lose at All IN? Due to a debuting Goldberg; who gets inserted into the match… and walks out with the belt? TK has not been shy about wanting Goldberg.
Goldberg as a surprise at All In beat both MJF and Adam Cole for the AEW World Championship. No! Just no!
WWE legend Tammy Sytch just pleaded no contest to a felony charge of DUI causing death and she’s now facing a prison sentence of up to a quarter of a century. Thoughts?
I hope she’s convicted, thrown in prison for the rest of her life, and forgotten about as she should be. Sytch has had several “second chances” and despite that, refused to change and ended up killing a man. Screw her! And I hope that Jeff Hardy, Jey Uso, and Marcus Bagwell are watching and taking notes so they don’t make the same mistake.
Leatherface showed up on AEW Dynamite last night in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Match between Jeff Jarrett and Jeff Hardy. Thoughts?
My first thought with this question was what was Sable doing in AEW? Then I realized, the wrong Leatherface. My bad! My thoughts. I understand that it’s professional wrestling and the reasons for that segment, but it came across as bush-league and pretty dumb to me. And I can’t wait to hear what Cornette and Dutch Mantell have to say about it. That will be fun.
In their primes, Bob Backlund versus Kurt Angle. Who wins?
Both men were amazing in their day and this would be a fantastic match to see. The Olympic Gold Medal Winner versus The Original All-American Boy. Throw in Del Parks, aka The Patriot, as the guest referee and you’d have a main event match that could headline any arena in the world. As for the match itself, I think Backlund would and should win.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s take it home. Be well, my friends, and watch out for foreign objects. I’ll see you at the matches.
