All Elite Wrestling (AEW) All In (The Wembley Show)
Thoughts & Predictions
August 26, 2023
DougMJaynard.com
Coming up tomorrow night from London, England, at Wembley Stadium, is AEW All In. It’s reportedly the largest show in pro wrestling history, although I think WCW and North Korea might dispute that. But it is the largest show in AEW history or recent history and that’s a fact that no one can dispute. Of course, that means it’s time to break out the crystal ball and make a few predictions. So are you ready? Let’s do this.
MJF (c) vs. Adam Cole for the AEW World Championship
I don’t think MJF should lose the title. There is unfinished business with the “real World Champion” that needs to be settled. But that being said, MJF as the champ has been getting stale in my eyes as of late and some changes need to be made. So Adam Cole turning on his BFF to capture the Triple B and a feud going forward with the roles reversed, MJF as the babyface and Cole as the heel and new champion? That sounds pretty intriguing. And what if they’re also ROH Tag Team Champions together at the same time? I’ll address that in a few minutes, but it all sounds like good television. Let’s go with that.
Winner and NEW AEW World Champion: Adam Cole
FTR (c) vs. The Young Bucks for the AEW Tag titles
If Cash hadn’t had his recent bout of legal issues, I’d say that FTR should win and will retain the titles. But, you knew there would be a but, right? Using those issues as an excuse, plus that they’ll be wrestling in front of the largest crowd in AEW history, I can’t see the Bucks not using their influence as EVPs to make sure that they’ll win the rubber match and take the tag team title belts. I don’t like it, but that’s the vibe I’m getting. Cash & Wheeler deserves better, but we’re looking at a title switch here.
Winners and NEW AEW Tag Team Champions: The Young Bucks.
Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Toni Storm vs. Dr. Britt Baker vs. Saraya for the AEW Women’s World Championship
It’s in her home country, plus she’s the sympathetic favorite. I’m not even going to go into the how and why. Saraya is winning the belt here for the ultimate feel-good moment.
Winner and NEW AEW Women’s Champion: Saraya
Darby Allin & Sting vs. Swerve Strickland & Christian Cage in a Coffin Match
Do you think that Sting is going in front of 80,000 fans to lose? That is not going to happen. Christian is there to take the fall because it won’t hurt the man holding the TNT Championship a single bit. I just hope Sting doesn’t try anything too crazy.
Winners: Sting & Darby Allin
Kenny Omega, Hangman Page & Kota Ibushi vs. Jay White, Juice Robinson & Konosuke Takeshita
Despite some of my thoughts on Omega & Page, this should be a good fight and may be the dark horse match of the night. White & Juice have been extremely effective as a tag team during their current run with AEW and I think they’re looking towards a big push in the months to come. I think it all starts here. A loss won’t hurt Omega or Page and it’ll do wonders to build White Juice.
Winners: Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Konosuke Takeshita.
CM Punk (c) vs. Samoa Joe for the “Real” AEW World title.
If this was for the ROH title held by Samoa Joe, I’d say Joe would win, but since it’s for a title held by Punk, one that even isn’t officially recognized by the company, I have to go with Punk. If we get to a finish, I see Punk doing something sneaky after taking a beating and stealing a win. I think we’ll get a non-finish, like a countout or someone getting involved to take out both men and cause chaos, thus giving us Punk and Joe as “reluctant partners” to pursue that matter while Punk builds his heat with whoever the AEW Champion ends up being. What are Ricky Starks and Big Bill doing Sunday night? I’m sure Starks isn’t done with Punk yet. As for this match, if we get a finish, it’ll be CM Punk walking out with the “Real World Championship”.
Winner and STILL AEW “Real World Champion” CM Punk
House of Black (c) vs. The Acclaimed & Bad Ass Billy Gunn for the AEW Trios titles.
Mr. Ass is back and we’re looking at a fun match where Billy and The Acclaimed will be capturing Trios Gold. Let the scissoring begin.
Winners and NEW AEW Trios Champions: Billy Gunn & The Acclaimed.
Chris Jericho vs. Will Ospreay
While Jericho should probably be able to give a good match, he should not be wrestling in a singles match at this time in his career. A tag match with him and Sammy Guevera versus Don Callis’s “Family” would be better. Ospreay versus Omega III would work better for this spot as well, but most likely, they’re saving that one for New Japan. This one is for Ospreay to shine and make his impact.
Winner: Will Ospreay w/ Don Callis
Blackpool Combat Club and Santana & Ortiz vs. Best Friends, Orange Cassidy, Eddie Kingston & Penta El Zero M in Stadium Stampede.
This is one match that I have no interest in at all. I’d rather see the ten wrestlers stay in the ring and fight, but I get it that it’s AEW’s go-to match and trademark, so we get this instead of a good old-fashioned match or fight. I expect lots of blood, lots of plunder, an obvious amount of shenanigans, and plenty of chaos. And since the BCC is named after an area of the UK and they’re in the UK, look for William Regal’s favorite collection of misfit toys to take the victory.
Winners: The Blackpool Combat Club.
Aussie Open (c) vs. MJF & Adam Cole for the ROH Tag titles (pre-show)
I think we’re seeing a title switch here. For the reasons I mentioned when discussing the main event match with MJF and Cole, I can easily see them going into the main event of the evening as co-champions, while at the same time, fighting over a singles belt. The Aussie Open can get their belts back next week at All Out. For now, we’re getting new champions and a lot of crazed chaos.
Winners and NEW ROH Tag Team Champions: Adam Cole & MJF.
Jack Perry (c) vs. HOOK for the FTW championship (pre-show).
This one kind of confounds me because I can’t see Hook getting a clean loss in front of this many people, but I can’t see Perry, amid his biggest push ever, taking a loss either. I’ll call shenanigans and we’ll see Perry with some sneaky tactics behind the referee’s back to steal a win, after taking a beating for the duration of the match. Yeah, both come out looking well and the belt stays with the champion.
Winner and STILL FTW Champion: Jack Perry
And there you go. So what do you think? Am I right? Am I wrong? Should I put away the shot bottles of Jack Daniels? Let me know in the comments, along with any thoughts or predictions you may have. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And thanks for reading.
And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Be sure to keep your eyes open for a few surprise debuts. Lacey Evans? Goldberg? You know they’re coming eventually. Will Sunday night at Wembley be the night? We’ll find out then. Until the next time, watch out for foreign objects. I’m Doug and I’ll see you at the Concession Stand.
