How about one more before I have to walk out the door and go to work? It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A and I’m your slack-ass host with the most, Doug. Let’s do this.
It seems like these 4 “veterans” (Eric Bischoff, Konnan, Disco Inferno, Jim Cornette) are never satisfied with the current professional wrestling product. Who would you say out of these is the best complainer?
You call them complainers because they’re right more often than not and are using their knowledge, experience, and history of professional wrestling to honestly critique what they perceive to be wrong or needing improvement in today’s business. They’ve been there, done that, and have the scars to show for it. You sound like a mark to me. But who’s the best of the bunch? Jim Cornette. And he has the ratings to prove it.
Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn versus Edge & Christian in a Toronto Street Fight. Who wins?
This match would reek of awesomeness and the E&C team would walk out with the victory after much brutality, shenanigans, and insanity.
Trish Stratus is said to be wanting to wrestle Rhea Ripley. Would you like to see this match?
Before seeing that match at Payback, I would have said no, but seeing how Trish stepped up and had that incredible cage match with Becky, which truly stole the show, I’ll say now that if Trish wants to fight Rhea, let it happen. Trish made a believer out of me this past Saturday night.
Thoughts on Tony Garea?
Garea is a WWE Hall of Famer who gets mixed reviews from most fans, as well as most wrestlers. I remember seeing his name mentioned quite often in the Apter Mags during my youth, but that was just as the tag team guy who, with various partners, including Larry Zbyszko, Dean Ho, and Haystacks Calhoun, held the WWWF Tag Team Title. But then I remembered that he did a short run with Crockett in the late 70s, and I saw him a few times on television then. He stood out and had some good matches, but was mainly just a talented jobber. And when I think of Garea, that’s the impression that keeps popping up in my mind. A talented jobber.
Sonny Kiss has been removed from the AEW roster. Thoughts?
Well, they weren’t using him and he hasn’t been on television in forever, so letting his contract expire makes sense and is good business. Kiss was only hired, in my opinion, because he was unique, and having him as part of the roster was politically correct to show how “inclusive” AEW was as a company, but after the initial debut, he was just another face in the crowd of a roster of over two hundred people. He had his moment in the sun and now it’s time to move on, for both Kiss and AEW.
Who Were The Greatest Tag-Team of the 70’s & 80’s?
For the ’70s, it was Ole & Gene Anderson, aka The Minnesota Wrecking Crew. And the 80s, it’s a much harder decision, but for me, it would be the Midnight Express and manager Jim Cornette.
Triple Threat: The Great Kabuki, Kevin Von Erich, Jimmy Snuka. Who you got?
Of these three, I’d have to go with Kevin Von Erich.
Dutch Mantell recently listed his five men who should have been World Champions but weren’t on his podcast, The World According To Dutch. Who are your five picks that should have been World Champion, but wasn’t?
I answered the top pick, where I agreed with Dutch, in the last edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A, as Ted DiBiase, but the other four top picks? For me, it would be Arn Anderson, Bill Eadie (Masked Superstar), Magnum TA, and David Von Erich.
Does WWE still have a movie studio? When was the last time they released a movie? If they were to make another, what would you like to see?
They do still technically have a movie studio, although the last movie released was in 2021 with the movie, Rumble. The focus now seems to be more TV-orientated, with reality shows and documentaries, in partnership with companies like Netflix, A&E, and others. If they were to make another film, I’d like to see maybe a buddy flick with Steve Austin, John Cena, and The Miz. Just seeing these three men together on screen, with their chemistry, doing a comedy, would be, dare I say it, AWESOME!
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up for today. I have things to do. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
