And yes, even more questions about the King of Sports. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m trying to weed out the inbox and thus, more content just for you. You’re welcome. I’m Doug and I’m the reason that Tony Khan feared for his life. Okay, maybe not. Let’s do this.
What’s your honest opinion on Matt Hardy?
Matt is a bit full of himself at times, but he’s a talented wrestler with a great imagination and mind for the business we all know and love. He isn’t what he once was so far as in-ring work goes, but he’s someone who could be a major influence backstage, and any wrestling company would be fortunate to have him. Matt should have been a World Champion at some point, but unfortunately, that never happened. He was the WWECW Champion once, I believe, but he deserved more than that. A true icon in this business.
Do you want to see CM Punk back in WWE?
I would like to see that happen, yes. And under a Brock Lesnar-like deal, he could make a big impact and be a huge part of the WWE product. I’d love to see it happen.
Who’s the greatest tag team of all time?
Of all time, I’ll go with the team that dominated the 70s and early 80s, and essentially wrote the book on tag team wrestling, Ole & Gene Anderson, aka The Minnesota Wrecking Crew.
Who should be the one to dethrone Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship on WWE Raw?
How about a returning Carlito? Yeah, that would be cool.
Do you think the WWE talent CM Punk has very public issues with would be willing to work with him, let alone put him over, if the company brought him back?
If it makes them money and gets them over with the boss, then yes, they will do as they’re told and be professionals. That’s the difference between AEW and WWE. The WWE talent are professionals and putting over Punk would just be another day at the office, if that’s what’s best for business.
Nick Bockwinkle and Harley Race vs. Shoei “Giant” Baba and Andre The Giant. Who wins?
As big as the two giants were, Harley and Nick would find a way to take the win and the trip to the pay window.
Is now the perfect opportunity to make Collision the ROH show?
I don’t how much Warner Brothers, the bosses, would go for that, but since ROH does need a show that people can actually watch and it would make good sense to me, I would say that’s a great idea.
JYD was an icon in the sport and held many titles, but why do you think he never got one WWF World title run the whole time he was in it?
Two reasons. One was that Hogan was the champion and WWF, aka Vince, wasn’t going to kill his golden goose on someone untested like JYD. And secondly and more importantly, JYD was, as revealed by the Dark Side of the Ring series, into drugs at the time and it wouldn’t make sense to put the top title on someone who can’t be depended on and could potentially be a liability for the company. One arrest for drug possession would be all it would take, especially in the 80s.
Which reign have you enjoyed more; Orange Cassidy’s or Gunther’s?
I prefer serious smash-mouth wrestling that tells a story and makes sense over comedy spots. So that would be Gunther.
So, Judgement Day is trying to recruit Jey Uso. Thoughts?
It makes sense from a power-grab perspective, to get the new guy, especially if it’s a big star like Uso, on your side rather than as opposition. Plus, this may lead to a potential conflict of interest with The Bloodline, leading to battles between the two strongest factions in WWE. So it makes sense, plus is planting the seeds for more in the days and months to come. This is called good storytelling and booking by the WWE. I’m interested in seeing where this goes and what happens next.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. And with that, let’s wrap it up for now. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
