And here we are, back again, with the best damn wrestling Q&A, period. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m your host with the most, Doug, and we’ve got some good ones today. So are you ready? Let’s do this.
How do you feel about the fact there are 2 ROH titles at an AEW PPV? I think it’s too much and the blurring of the lines is causing issues with the character development of the locker room.
I have no problem with the ROH titles being defended on AEW PPV events. Both are owned by the same person and the rosters interchange regularly on all three of the AEW programs. It’s like an NXT wrestler showing up on RAW or Smackdown, or vice-versa. It’s not a big deal.
Do you think All Out should have been pushed back a few weeks to enable some of the Wembley stuff to settle down rather than rushing into another PPV?
I think so, but I’m not the man making the decisions for AEW and their event schedule, so it doesn’t matter what I think. That’s Tony Khan’s call and his own. It just happened to be a dumb one in my opinion, but he’s the boss.
So, when Cody eventually and inevitably turns heel, who should be his victim?
Fox maximum effect, how about Sami Zayn? Turning on Sami would be like kicking a small baby who’s riding on a puppy. It would get Cody over as a heel immediately.
Do you think AEW will stick to the one Wembley show-a-year formula, or can you see AEW visiting the UK more often in the future?
The UK is the only place where they’re able to sell tickets and have large audiences. The U.S. market for AEW events is rapidly decreasing and getting worse every week. So more shows to the UK and Europe? They may not have a choice in the way things seem to be headed.
Does AEW rely too much on foreign wrestlers from New Japan and Mexico, instead of using American wrestlers that the fans are more familiar with?
It sure seems that way. Over half of the roster on the typical AEW show is unknown to the majority of the average fans. The diehards who follow Mexico or Japan may have heard of some of these folks, but the majority haven’t and it’s hard to get invested in people who you’re unfamiliar with. AEW needs to do better and use known names more often or at least use vignettes and announcers to build the wrestlers before throwing them out there, which is something that they rarely do. Sad!
Dream feud for Big E, should he ever be healthy enough to make a return?
I want to see Big E up against Miro, returning to the WWE under the name of Rusev. Those two huge men could have one helluva meat fight, and I’d love to see it happen.
If Bo Dallas returns to the WWE and starts a new Wyatt Family, in tribute to his brother Bray, who would you pick as the members of this old/new faction?
I’d have Bo step up, be serious, and be the charismatic leader of a Wyatt 6 Faction, to pay homage to his brother, Bray. And the wrestlers? Erick Rowan & Braun are musts, as is Alexa Bliss, to keep the ties to his brother and the original Wyatt Family intact, but I’d Joe Hennig (Curtis Axel) to the mix to give a loyal Bo-associate some representation and round it out with Grayson Waller to be the “star” of the faction. Rowan and Braun would be the tag team. Bliss would be the female. Axel would be the veteran and second in command. Waller would be the big star. And Bo would be the leader, acting as the voice and coordinating everything. It would work and work well to see this group as they Follow The Buzzards.
Thoughts on Riddick “Madcap” Moss?
I like this guy. He’s got a good look and is entertaining both in the ring and on the mic. He has the potential to be a huge name in WWE, especially when paired with his real-life girlfriend Emma. I just hope that WWE realizes what they have here with these two and can find a way to push him and build the character. I can easily see him being a top guy sooner rather than later.
Who ran their wrestling promotion better? Tony Kahn or Dixie Carter?
Dixie Carter. At least she was smart enough to have people who knew what they were doing in the top spots and running the shows. Tony has money and that’s essentially the only advantage he has over Dixie. Tony books what he likes, but not what will expand or grow the company, plus he allows his employees to run all over him. Tony is a money-mark, glorified Indy wrestling promoter. Nothing more. Both are bad, but at least Dixie was nice to look at for the male wrestling fans. Poor Tony isn’t even that.
If CM Punk were to return to WWE, who would you like to see him feud against?
Cody Rhodes would be a must, given both of their recent histories, but Miz would be fun to see too, as would LA Knight. And to elevate a lower-tier star, much like he did with MJF in AEW and was attempting to do with Ricky Starks, how about Miz versus Austin Theory? Theory is so good, but he needs to rise to that next level to be a consistent main eventer. Punk could easily take him there. And just for fun, CM Punk versus Dirty Dom and the Judgement Day.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, I’m out of here. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for people crying a river over real glass. I’ll see you at the matches.
