Here comes the new boss, the same as the old boss. Okay, this has nothing to do with the “boss”, but instead, it’s about the world’s greatest sport, professional wrestling. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m playing catch-up again. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
If Bobby Heenan was a manager in his prime in AEW right now, who would you place in his Heenan Family?
It’s hard to picture The Brain as part of AEW, but I’ll play along. A modern-day AEW version of the Heenan Family would be Wardlow, FTR, and maybe Ricky Starks as the “star” of his family.
Which wrestler currently signed to WWE do you think would have more success in AEW?
I honestly don’t think any of the current WWE would benefit, long-term, from going to AEW because while they would make money and get a short push, they’d be forgotten and lost in the crowd, within six weeks. But again, I’ll play the game who could use a short push as a big star before being lost in AEW limbo. Ricochet would benefit, as would the team of Hit Row, Angel Garza, Humberto, and maybe Nikki Cross.
Eric Bischoff on Jack Perry: “This guy is not a star, he’ll never be a star”. Agree or disagree?
If he had any chance before, the stunt with CM Punk and the PPV Promo, “Real glass! Cry me a river!”, that’s shot to hell. Perry will never be a big star anywhere that matters. Eric is 100% correct.
Adnan Al-Kassie passed away. Thoughts?
I first remember seeing Al-Kassie during a brief stint in Georgia, but he’s most famous for two things. As the “Shiek” manager in the AWA, he led such men as Jerry Blackwell, Ken Patera, and Bruiser Brodie into battle against Verne and Greg Gagne, and then later, going to the WWF, where he allied himself with Sgt. Slaughter as an Iraqi Sympathizer. Al-Kassie also had a prior career in the old days of the WWWF under the name of Billy White Wolf, sharing the tag team titles with another fake Indian, Chief Jay Strongbow. A very talented performer and a very nice guy from all I’ve ever heard, Al-Kassie was a true wrestling legend. My condolences to the family and friends. Rest in Peace, General.
Is The Judgment Day starting to make the case that they’re more dominant than The Bloodline?
They hold all the gold so an argument can be made to that point, but are they more dominant? It’s like comparing the Horsemen to the Dangerous Alliance or the nWo in WCW. Neither group is the most dominant, but they’re all dangerous and are not taking a back seat to anyone. With all of their recent issues, The Bloodline is on the downslide, while Judgement Day is moving upwards, but it all can change with one match or vignette. So who is more dominant? I’ll say, all of the above.
Is Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch in the conversation for match of the year?
If it’s not in the conversation already, it should be. It was far better than it had any right to be and Trish not only held her own but exceeded all expectations. It was a great match.
Hear me out. Keith Lee and Wardlow form a tag team. Thoughts?
Then AEW can lose two wrestlers in the shuffle rather than just one at a time. If they would be assured of a good push, plus a long-term story, and maybe a mouthpiece to act as their spokesperson, this would be a good team and could be very entertaining. I wouldn’t mind seeing it happen.
What happens next time something goes wrong in AEW or someone gets pissy politically or Tony Khan doesn’t put Colt Cabana on TV if CM Punk isn’t around anymore?
They’ll just find another scapegoat to blame it on. I heard Dax Harwood is still friends with Punk, so maybe he’s next. Or hell, blame Lance Archer. At least it will be some attention, which is more than he gets now. I’m sure that The EVPs will find another enemy sooner rather than later. It’s in their nature and they’re too much of big children to hope otherwise.
EC3 wants CM Punk to join the NWA. Thoughts?
If Billy Corgan and CM Punk could sit down and work out something, I’d love to see Punk as part of the NWA. It would be the move that the NWA needs to elevate up to the next level and become more than just a YouTube promotion, it’d be a big kick in the face to both AEW and WWE. Due to the money, it probably won’t happen, but here’s hoping that Punk and Corgan at least have a conversation or two. It would be a great move for the NWA and put them back in the major leagues where they belong.
Carlito has re-signed with the WWE, but allegedly, WWE Creative doesn’t know what they want to do with him. How would you book Carlito’s return to WWE?
I would say have him return at the upcoming Royal Rumble in Chicago, but I think we might see another big return there so that rules that out. How about simply walking out while one of the champions, Gunther perhaps, is cutting a promo and making a challenge from out of nowhere? Simple, but the pop would be amazing, and it would immediately insert him into the title hunt for the Intercontinental Championship and a top spot on the roster. And yeah, that’d be cool.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. With that being said, let’s wrap this up so I can move to the next batch of questions that’s been waiting so patiently for me. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
