I took a break for a few days and damn, the questions have piled up. I counted 92 questions waiting in my inbox as of ten minutes ago. Yes, I said 92 questions. So it’s time to play catch-up and expect to see a lot of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A over the next couple of days. You’ve been warned. And now, I’m Doug, your host with the most. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
Sherri Martel or Woman?
As a manager/valet, you can’t go wrong with either of these incredible ladies. It’s a tough call, but I think I’d go with Woman.
The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers or The Midnight Express?
Nothing against the Rougeau Brothers, but we’re talking about The Midnight Express here. It doesn’t matter if it’s Bobby & Stan or Bobby & Dennis, the Express is winning here.
Thoughts on Nick Wayne so far in AEW?
Is Nick still there? I know he was a part of the Christian versus Darby Allin build for All In, but where has he been since? I don’t see any strong push or consistency in his appearances or build thus far. I’ve seen a few matches on YouTube and the kid has some skills, Although he’s nowhere near the level of some of our local wrestlers here in NC, like Sammy Love or Nathan Cross, he’s got a future once he grows up and fills out a little bit. He still looks too much like a 15-year-old to take seriously. He had his moment as the young sensation with the feel-good story being signed by AEW, but unless something changes soon, I think he’ll be spending a lot of time in catering in the weeks and months to come.
I actually liked it when RAW had the weekly special guest host many years ago. I know that many people didn’t like the concept but it did make RAW fun and it also got mainstream attention from celebrities so that’s also good. They should’ve continued doing that because you never expected who going to appear on RAW. Thoughts?
I wasn’t crazy about it myself, but it was an interesting idea to try something new, attract new viewers, and get some of the Hollywood rub. There were some fun moments to be sure, and a few bombs as well with that concept and idea, but it was rarely boring. As for continuing the bit, I’m glad it’s over. It was new and fun, but it got stale fast and wore its welcome out after a while. As they’ve proven with Logan Paul, Bad Bunny, and Pat McAfee, celebrities can still get involved with the show. The role of guest hosts isn’t needed.
Let’s pretend Punk’s firing is a work. He got injured just like at All Out last year which caused another work (Brawl Out). How would you have him come back if you were booking it?
I’d have him attack Kenny Omega as Omega is being distracted by Don Callis. Callis can say that his lawyers got Punk reinstated back in AEW and Punk can unleash a worked-shoot pipebomb on the Elite, standing over a bloody and injured Omega, and then Punk and the Callis Family declare war on The Elite and we just go from there.
Triple Threat: Ron Fuller, Buzz Sawyer, The Iron Sheik. Who you got?
Hey Bubba, the Iron Sheik would humble both men and break their backs. The winner is The Iron Sheik.
Who was the scariest? Kamala, Jos LeDuc or Mongolian Stomper?
Jos LeDuc. I was fortunate enough to see this guy wrestle live twice, and he was a monster of a man and so damn intimidating. No one played psycho any better and I’m still not sure that he was playing. That guy was incredible and damn nuts!
“Number One” Paul Jones & The Masked Superstar versus Rowdy Roddy Piper & Greg Valentine. Who wins?
Piper and Valentine are true legends, but it’s hard for me to imagine them as a team, probably because they made such good opponents. Jones and Superstar though were a very solid team and held the NWA World Tag Team Championship titles twice. I’ll go with Number One and The Superstar for this one.
AEW needs more Dalton Castle. Yes or no?
Unlike most of the Indy darlings at AEW, Castle can work in that ring, on the mic, and knows how to tell a story as part of a wrestling match. His gimmick as the Human Peacock is entertaining and the man comes across as a big deal. More Dalton Castle and The Boys as part of AEW? I would absolutely say yes to that.
Does CM Punk have the right to sue AEW?
The moment that three Executive Vice Presidents of the company charged into his locker room and provoked a physical confrontation, I’m sure that lawyers were notified and started getting the paperwork ready. From slander to assault to an unsafe working environment, the reasons Punk could and should sue AEW are numerous. Even the termination, with cause, gives Punk a reason to call his lawyers and tell them to start warming up. I’m sure there will be a financial bonus to Punk from Tony Khan to make things go away, but if Punk wanted to pursue this in the courts, there are plenty of reasons he could do so.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. With that being said, let’s wrap this up so I can move to the next batch of questions that’s been waiting so patiently for me. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
