And the game of catching up continues. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
What’s your honest opinion on Bryan Danielson?
A talented wrestler and likable guy who isn’t as good as he’s hyped to be, but is still pretty damn impressive in that ring. I think the injuries over the years are taking their toll and he hasn’t had that breakout moment in AEW yet that sets him apart from the crowd. If I had my own company, I’d want him as part of my team, but to be honest, I think he’s peaked already and is on the downside of his career.
You are running WWE creative and WrestleMania 40 is done. Vince tells you to use the next year to build someone new for the WrestleMania 41 main event. Who do you pick?
This is a trick question because we have no idea right now what the main event of WrestleMania 40 is and who will be part of it, or the WWE for that matter after that show happens. But I’ll play along. Who do I see on the WWE roster that I’d push hard, build, and aim for in a main event program for WrestleMania 41? If Matt Cardona has returned to the WWE by then, I’d get behind him and push him heavily as a top guy. He’s not really new though. So probably for me, Grayson Waller would be the man. He’s young, looks great, talks great, and has that “it” that everyone looks for. He’s going to be a big name one day and pushing him as a top heel for WWE, would be, as Hunter used to say, best for business. So Waller is my pick.
Which match would you rather see at ‘Mania 40? Roman versus Cody or Roman versus The Rock?
I’ve already addressed this in my last Q&A. Night one is Roman versus Rock and Cody versus Cena. On night two, the two winners, Roman and Cody, face off for the Universal Championship and Cody finishes the story.
Thoughts on Jacqueline?
A wrestling icon who is as tough as they come and deserves far more credit than she usually gets. She wasn’t the biggest or the baddest, but she fought both men and women, worked as a valet, wrestler, trainer, and referee, and has done it all. A credit to her profession and one of the best.
Rhea Ripley believes that Damian Priest is ready to take Roman Reigns’ spot in WWE. Agree or disagree?
I’m not going to argue with Mami. Priest would be a great choice to take the top spot from Roman, although to be honest, I think taking it from Seth would make more sense. Priest is a future World Champion. That is for certain.
In their primes, Dean Malenko versus Ricky Morton. Who wins?
Nothing against Ricky, but this one is Malenko, all the way, period.
Where do you rank Freakzilla, The Big Booty Daddy, Big Poppa Pump, Scott Steiner among the all-time greats? If he was ever allowed back to the WWE, should he be a HOFer as a single?
After turning himself from a tag team wrestler into Big Poppa Pump, Steiner became a legit top guy of his era and one of the biggest attractions. He’s not the greatest, but he’s in the argument for one of WCW’s best champions of the Monday Night Wars era. A Hall of Fame induction as a Singles Wrestler? I could go for that.
Stan Hansen veersus Kane. Who wins?
This would be a fun match to see. I think Kane and Hansen would match up well in style and size. Stan would win, but he’d have a damn good fight on his hands getting to that victory.
The British Bulldogs (Dynamite Kid & DaveyBoy Smith) versus Los Gringo Locos (Eddie Guerrero & The American Love Machine, Art Barr). Who wins?
Talk about a great match with a huge contrast in style, this one would be it. We all know how good The Bulldogs were, but Guerrero and Barr were just as good. This match would be so much fun to see and it would be so close, either team could win. My money would be on Eddie and Barr. Go check out some videos from Triple AAA Wrestling and the When World’s Collide PPV event. I think most would agree.
Austin Theory was buried by The Rock & Pat McAfee. Thoughts?
I disagree. Theory looked relaxed out there and held his own against The Rock. Yes, he got beaten up and suffered not one, but two People’s Elbows, but he didn’t look out of place in the ring with The Rock and came across as cocky and natural like he belonged there. Theory has grown and matured in the past year and he gets it. He’s finding his niche and knows his role. He had more eyes on him from this one segment than he’s ever had before and he came out looking good. So not buried, but just a day under the learning tree. ‘Nuff said.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
