It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
Pick One Faction, one male wrestler, one female wrestler, and one tag team to start your own wrestling promotion with.
I’m going to stick with current talents instead of my habit of using my favorites and legends of the past. The faction would be The Judgement Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Dom Mysterio, Rhea Ripley). My male and female wrestlers would be Matt Cardona and Asuka. And the tag team would be Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler, aka FTR. With that crowd as the starting lineup of a new promotion, we’d be knocking Tony Khan to a distant third in no time at all.
Cryme Tyme was never Tag Team Champions. Did WWE drop the ball with this team?
I’m surprised to learn that Cryme Tyme never held tag team gold while part of the WWE. They were over big time and a damn good team, with a strong following and crowd response. I would have thought that they would have held tag team gold at least once. Did WWE drop the ball? I would say yes.
So Sammy Guevera turned on Chris Jericho and joined the Don Callis family. Thoughts?
I’m glad to see Sammy get away from Jericho for a while and while being with Callis isn’t necessarily an improvement, it gives Sammy a serious heel base from which to operate and will allow him to be more consistent as a heel. It’s a good role and place for the former TNT Champion and will help him work on what I’ve always felt was the weakest part of his game, playing a character and sticking to it. I’m sure that eventually, Sammy will end up saving Jericho, being his ally again, and being a tweener again, but for now, this heel turn and alliance with Callis should be a positive move for Sammy and his career.
The Rock versus Sting. Who wins?
Sting is an icon, but the Rock is the Rock. And the Rock would whoop Sting’s candy-ass all over the arena and get the win.
Did you see the finish of the Jon Moxley match on Dynamite? The screw-up by the referee and then when Moxley was dropped on his head and legit hurt by Ray Fenix. Thoughts?
The referee, Rick Knox, needs to be suspended or fired. Stopping the three count when Mox wasn’t moving was just pure stupidity. And then allowing Fenix to do the tombstone again, even more sloppily the second time, was so dangerous and insane. I’m not a fan of Moxley, but I don’t want to see him get injured, and if he doesn’t have neck problems after this shit-show of a match, and that botched finish, I’ll be surprised. Mox was out of it from the start after a botched flip by Fenix off the stage that rocked Moxley’s head, bouncing it off the floor. And then two botched tombstones at the end. What the hell was Fenix thinking? That match was a disaster and I’m sure has knocked several years off of Moxley’s wrestling career. Knox needs to be fired. Fenix needs to go back to wrestling school. And Moxley is going to need a wheelchair. Just pure stupidity at its worst.
Jake Hager says he’s officially retired from MMA and that Bellator was “jerking me off”.Thoughts?
I think Jake just misses that purple hat and being relevant. I’m sure that the money wouldn’t be as good, but he needs to get away from that AEW circus and maybe go to Impact Wrestling, the NWA, or even New Japan and reinvent himself. He’s losing his freaking mind. Hager is just talking to be talking and trying to get some attention. We, the people!
Dance Battle: Norman Smiley versus Das Wunderkind Alex Wright. Who wins?
The Big Wiggle versus whatever it was that Alex did while in that ring. I’ve got to side with Alex Wright on this one.
Jim Ross recently commented that he prefers quarterly PPVs instead of having one every month. Which do you prefer and why?
Quarterly are okay, but we’ve been spoiled by having the monthly shows for so long, it’d be hard to give up. I do like the longer period between PPV events though mainly for the fact that it allows the chance to build issues, build storylines, and make the shows mean more rather than just chunking them out month after month, putting matches together with no purpose and all rushed. Wait, that’s what AEW does anyhow. My bad! I’d like to see the companies change from every month to a PPV event every two months, knocking it back to six PPVs a year. Special shows, like WCW did with Clash of the Champions, WWE’s Tribute To The Troops, the shows in Saudi Arabia, etc., could be used to take up the slack. It would just make the PPV shows seem bigger and more special that way. Jim Ross is correct.
Since WWE has been expanding the international PLE shows, which country do you think should host a future PLE and why?
I’d love to see the WWE hold PLE events in Mexico, Germany, and Japan. All three nations have a strong history and love for professional wrestling, as well as a unique atmosphere. That would make for some great crowds and history to build from.
Impact Wrestling star PCO has announced that his contract with Impact Wrestling is set to expire and he’s leaving the company. So what do you think is next for PCO?
PCO is nearly 56 years old and even though he still looks great in that ring, I think time may finally be catching up with the former Quebeccer and taking it’s toll. While I wouldn’t be surprised to see Oulette switch to a job as a trainer or a producer, maybe even for Impact Wrestling, I think this exit from the company is signaling the end of an era and the winding down of a legendary, Hall of Fame worthy career. While I don’t think we’ll ever see an official and final retirement for PCO, I think the full-time, in-ring career is over.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up here. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
