It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug and I’m answering all the questions that you ask. We’re keeping it real and that is all the people need to know. Let’s roll.
The Bella Twins (Garcia Twins?) say that they want one last run if Nikki’s surgeon will allow it. Thoughts?
Their stars are fading without the push of the WWE machine behind them and they’re starting to realize it. It’s just that simple. Having the twins formerly known as The Bellas would be a good move for a company like AEW, which needs solid performers/characters to supplement their Women’s Division, it would make sense since Brie is married to AEW star Bryan Danielson. I have no interest in seeing them return to the ring, but still, best of luck to them with whatever they decide to do. There are worse wrestlers out there.
Thoughts on Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Does Duggan belong in the WWE Hall of Fame?
Duggan, at least in the incarnations that I’ve seen him, WCW, and WWE, has always struck me more cartoonish than anything else. I’ve seen some footage from his early days working for Bill Watts at Mid-South and the difference between that performer and what he eventually became in WWE/WCW is startling. But despite my misgivings about Duggan, I’ll give credit where it’s due. He was entertaining at times and he was absolutely a memorable performer. So Hacksaw in the WWE Hall of Fame? I would say yes to that.
With the return of Big Brother – which wrestlers would you put in the house – you can have any 16 wrestlers from any promotion.
Sixteen wrestlers from any promotion thrown together in a house and let the drama begin? Okay, I’ll be fair and split it up between 8 men and 8 women. And my wrestlers for the Big Brother house would be as follows. For the men, Juventud Guerrera, Matt Riddle, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Jamie Dundee, William Regal, Tony Khan, and CM Punk. For my women, I’d go with Sasha Banks, Awesome Kong, Lisa (Ivory) Moretti, Terri Runnels, Missy Hyatt, Saraya, Nikla Roberts (Baby Doll), and Stephanie McMahon. Admit it. You’d watch.
Humberto Carrillo & Angel Garza as part of the LWO? Yes or no?
Both men are extremely talented and deserve a bigger push, and Garza’s uncle was a member of the original LWO in WCW. So eventually, somewhere down the road, I would say yes.
So WWE has brought back General Managers. Do you think NXT will get a General Manager? Thoughts?
NXT doesn’t need a General Manager since Shawn Michaels seems to handle most situations as the resident authority figure. But if they were, who should they use for the role? William Regal isn’t an option since he’s not able to appear on WWE television, based on the terms of release from his AEW contract, so who’s left? I’m just throwing a name out there, but someone who would be great in the role of NXT GM would be Norman Smiley. Just saying.
Should AEW have an Authority Figure role for their television? If so, then who?
AEW definitely should have someone else in the role of an on-air authority figure for their shows and press events. Tony Khan is severely overexposed and seems to hurt the company more than help these days. So hire someone to handle the on-air decisions, and the media, and serve as the face of the company. It would be a major improvement. As for who it could/should be, Jerry Lynn already works backstage and would be excellent in that role. Maybe Sting, after he retires, but I think Lynn would be a much better option.
There has allegedly been talk of John Cena retiring at Wrestlemania 40. Should he and if so, who should his last match be against?
As Cena’s Hollywood career continues to grow, he has less and less time for pro wrestling and I think a retirement match at Wrestlemania, going out while still on top, would be a great way to end his in-ring wrestling career. He could still come back for appearances and special events, but no more matches. As for his opponent in his final match, based on the current WWE roster, how about Grayson Waller? It’d put Waller over as a big name, be a fun match to see, and allow Cena to pass the torch if you will. Sounds good to me.
The NWA & Billy Corgan announced today that they’ve signed two deals with the CW for NWA Powwer & a reality-themed show. Thoughts?
The NWA is making big moves and taking the next step to elevate its product and promotion. I think this is a great move and I’m excited to see how things work out and develop.
Dave Meltzer recently speculated that he doesn’t think Bo Dallas will be returning to the WWE anytime soon, as either Uncle Howdy or in any other role after the death of his brother, Bray Wyatt. Do you think Bo will be back in WWE?
I hope he does eventually return, but I’ve always been a big fan of Bo Dallas so that’s always been my take. But looking at reality, Bo has a successful real estate career going on outside of pro wrestling, plus a relationship with Liv Morgan, and he’s still dealing with the loss of his brother. He doesn’t need professional wrestling or the WWE and no one could blame him if he puts that part of his life behind him and moves on. I’d love to see him back, but if he doesn’t do so, I understand why.
Torrie Wilson recently spoke about how she’d like to return to WWE and face Rhea Ripley. Would you like to see Torrie return and face Rhea in a match?
Torrie also said in that comment that Rhea “would kill me!”, so I doubt we’ll ever see this happen. Torrie versus Rhea in a one-off match would be fun to see and would be entertaining, especially given that Torrie was Dom’s big crush as a child, but I doubt we’ll ever see it happen. If it did happen, I’d watch.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any comments are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to share, like, and subscribe. And with that, let’s close up shop for today. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
