It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready, Freddy? Let’s roll.
Bobby Lashley versus Scott “Flash” Norton. Who wins?
Two giant men slapping man meat together, this would be a very stiff match. Neither man is a technical wizard in the ring, but both men are solid beyond comprehension. I’d love to see this one happen. As for the result, Norton would give Lashley the beating of a lifetime, but when the smoke has settled, The All Mighty would take home the win.
Better Pro Wrestling Gimmick: The Natural Dustin Rhodes or Goldust?
This one isn’t even close. Dustin as the Natural was solid, but he broke the mold as Goldust and took it to the next level, with a unique character that stood above all others. People liked Dustin, but everyone was in awe of Goldust.
AEW personality CJ Perry (formerly Lana) says that she wants Paul Heyman’s spot as the “best manager of all time”. Can she do it? Thoughts?
It’s nice to have dreams and aspirations, but Perry isn’t even the best manager in AEW, or even close to that goal as of yet, so hoping to fill Heyman’s shoes. She’s got a long way to go.
Has AEW dropped the ball with Keith Lee?
Is Lee even still working for AEW? He’s been pushed and then forgotten so many times. He was betrayed by Swerve Strickland and then the feud was dropped, with no resolution or payoff. Yes, AEW has dropped the ball repeatedly, with Lee and so many others. I remember the big moment when Lee came face to face with Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble a few years ago in the WWE. Lee has a big star written all over him. And then he came to AEW and well…
In a recent interview, Elias finally admitted that he was Ezekiel in the WWE. Thoughts?
Kevin Owens was right!
We all know and love the Four Horsemen, but I have a question for you. In the same time frame, if you were to create the Four Horsemen but as a Babyface faction, who would you go with?
A good guy version of The Horsemen? I’d probably go with Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA, Nikita Koloff, and Manny Fernandez, with Johnny Weaver in the managerial role.
Thoughts on The Italian Stallion, Gary Sabaugh?
I’ve never met Stallion, but I’ve heard many stories from many people who did have interactions and dealings with the man. As a wrestler/enhancement talent, Stallion was good. He had solid matches and did an excellent job of getting over talent and making them look like superstars. As a person, my opinions of him are not that good. Again, I’ve never met the man, but the stories about him taking wrestler’s money as a “booking fee”, and just being an ass, don’t sit well with me. I’ve heard bad things from too many different people and the stories never change. So Stallion, I’ll say a good wrestler and as a person, not quite as much.
The Midnight Express (Eaton & Lane) w/ Jim Cornette versus Rick Steamboat & Jay Youngblood in a Steel Cage match. Who wins?
The fans would win because this would be an awesome match. As for in the ring, I think Steamboat and Youngblood would take that trip to the pay window with a very close, very hard-fought victory.
The NWA is coming to the CW. What changes will Billy Corgan and the NWA have to make to their product to succeed on Network television?
I think the main thing will be a need to update their production values and the quality of their television and announcing. Probably a move from the small studio to a larger arena will help as well. And right now, the NWA doesn’t use entrance music for the wrestlers. That’ll probably change as well. The NWA will have to come into the 21st century and update the product. Not so much as to lose their identity, but to be able to compete with today’s market and promotions.
Who was your favorite enhancement talent?
The names that immediately came to mind for me were Mark Starr, who wrestled in WCW, Steve Muslim, who was also known as Steve Travis in WWF, and Charlie Fulton. I’ve seen many a “jobber” over the years, many of whom went on to become big stars and have great careers, but these three men, to me anyhow, stand out among the best. They rarely won their matches, but you knew it was going to be a good one anyhow.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. And with that, let’s call it a day. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
