It’s the only wrestling Q&A that matters, the best damn wrestling Q&A ever. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug and I’ve got the answers to all of your wrestling-related questions. Let’s roll.
Tony Schiavone recently said that he thinks Sting should bring back the “Surfer Sting” look for his last match. Thoughts?
There is nothing more embarrassing than an old man trying to pretend he’s still young. See Ric Flair for example. But unlike the Nature Boy, Sting could probably pull it off with the face paint. He shouldn’t be out there without a shirt, but if he’s comfortable putting on the old original Stinger persona again, then he should do it. It would be cool.
AEW is reportedly very interested in signing former WWE wrestler Eva Marie to a contract. Thoughts?
She would fit right in with the AEW Women’s roster and unlike the majority of that group, she already has an established character. I’m happy for any wrestler to work and have a steady job. Hire her, Tony.
Former WWE wrestler Top Dolla says that there were plans for him and Michael Cole to have a match. Thoughts?
For sure, that would have put butts in the seats. If Vince was still in charge, I could believe this and see it happening. With Triple H being the boss though, I think the wannabe gangbanger is just blowing air out his blowhole. I don’t think WWE would risk Michael Cole, someone who matters to the company, in a potential disaster like a match against Top Dolla. I just don’t see it at all.
Better Pro Wrestling Gimmick: Bam Bam Bigelow or The One Man Gang?
Though I have much love for Bam Bam Bigelow, I’ll go with the OMG on this one. Before WWF had him transform into the African Dream, Akeem, Gang was a legit badass and believable character. I had the chance to see him wrestle many times for Crockett and he was a damn good heel.
Favorite Masked Wrestler?
Of all time, I’ll go with the legendary Bill Eadie, aka The Masked Superstar.
Asuka has joined Damage CTRL. Thoughts?
Damage CTRL was tough before, but with the additions of Asuka and Kairi Sane, I’m actually interested in them again now which was starting to be an issue. I’m excited to see where this goes.
This coming Friday night, it’s WWE Smackdown on FOX going head to head with AEW Collision on TBS. Which one are you planning to watch?
Well, that was 3 nights ago, but based on the ratings I’ve seen, everyone decided to watch WWE Smackdown and AEW Collision set its lowest rating since its inception. Even AEW Rampage, which followed Collision, did better. I didn’t get to watch either due to other responsibilities, but I would have gone with the masses on this one and watched Smackdown.
John Cena is going to be hosting a talk show on Roku called “What Drives You?”. Thoughts?
Movies, the Peacemaker, Season 2, and now a talk show. Young Mister Cena has developed into an all-around entertainer. I doubt I’ll be watching this talk show, but good for Cena. He’s a hard worker and deserves every moment of success he can get.
WWE announced that they’ll be hosting both a live edition of WWE Smackdown and a PLE in France in May 2024. Thoughts?
WWE is again evolving and expanding its international audience and market and this is big news. Good for them.
Should AEW Rampage be rebranded into an all women’s show?
If AEW had a strong women’s roster that had compelling characters, strong wrestlers, and good matches, this might be an idea to consider, but they don’t, and changing to an all-women’s show right now would drop the ratings even worse than they are now if that’s possible. This is not a good idea.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Happy Thanksgiving to my friends here in America. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
