It’s Black Friday and while I don’t have any televisions for sale, I do have questions about the world’s greatest sport. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Come check out the deals. Let’s roll.
The Mighty Igor versus Mark Henry. Who wins?
Talk about two powerful men slapping man meat, this would be the match. No armlocks or single-leg takedowns, but just power move versus power move. Igor played the character of a simpleton, but he was truly anything but that. And Mark Henry was always a dangerous man as he invited others into the House of Pain. It’d be a fight for the ages, but Henry would end up getting the win.
Men On A Mission. Thoughts and memories of this epic tag team?
I mainly remember two huge out-of-shape guys and their annoying manager running around at ringside trying to rap. Yeah, I was not a fan at all. They were characters and a little more. I did like Mabel when he evolved into the Viscera character a few years later. He earned my respect and he was a big-ass dude. But as part of MOM, not so much. They were just kind of there.
Who would be your Mt. Rushmore of Midget Wrestlers?
Obviously, Hornswoggle, followed by Lord Littlebrook, El Torito, and Diamond Lil.
Who was an enhancement talent that you feel really could have made an impact if they had been given a chance?
Mark Starr. He was a jobber in WCW, best known for his tag team pairing with Chris Kanyon as part of Men At Work. Starr had a great look, was good in the ring, and had that special “It” about him. The real-life brother of New Breed member Chris Champion, Starr had all the tools but never got the heavy push. I think he could have been a big name if just given the opportunity.
Have you acknowledged Roman Reigns today?
No, not yet, but the day is young. It’s on the list.
If you were a wrestler, would you be a heel or baby face? And why?
I would absolutely want to be a heel. As for why, heels have more fun, and pandering to a crowd for love and support is just too much work. It’s far easier to piss someone off than to make them happy and pissing people off is something I’ve always been good at.
What tag team never held tag team championships but should have?
Barry Windham & Arn Anderson is the first team that comes to mind. As part of The Horsemen, Arn & Barry teamed together quite often and had great chemistry. Barry & Flair made a great team too, but with Flair being the WCW Champion more often than not, I can see why that team was never given a run with the tag team gold. But Arn & Barry together as a team would have made for a great set of champions.
Lord Al Hayes versus Dick Murdoch. Who wins?
Although most remember Lord Alfred as the goofy sidekick for Vince McMahon in the old Tuesday Night Titans series that predated RAW, he had quite the career as both a wrestler and a manager before then. Just picture William Regal but in a tuxedo. He was a tough cookie. And so far as Dick Murdoch goes, his legacy and reputation speaks for itself. This would make for a damn good match. Since Lord Alfred was usually a heel, more often than not, Murdoch would walk away with the win. He’d have to fight to earn it, but Captain Redneck would be the victor.
Orange Cassidy has proven that comedy wrestlers can get over with a serious push. So what about Gentleman Jarvis?
Gentleman Jarvis is an interesting comedy wrestler who lives and works on the West Coast and he’s entertaining. But the man’s finishing move is a “Sleeper” where he cradles his opponent in his arms and rocks them to sleep. I don’t see that getting over or working for a serious, top promotion. Hell, not even AEW. So while Jarvis can have a great career on the Indy scene, and he does, I don’t think a major national promotion is in his future.
Call it right now, does CM Punk show up at Survivor Series on Saturday?
If you’ve read my WCW Survivor Series prediction column, you already know my answer. If not, go read it now and find out. Cheap Plug.
