Yes, it’s another edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I need a life, but this will suffice for now. Are you ready? Let’s roll.
Brock Lesnar, Triple H, and The Rock versus The Shield. Who wins?
Talk about a dream main event match that would blow the roof off of any arena and this match is the one. The two greatest stars of the Attitude Era and the Beast versus the most dominant faction of the past ten years. If there has to be a winner, my money would be on The Rock, Hunter, and Brock. Otherwise, it’d end in a no-contest finish.
There is a lot of speculation that WWE RAW may end up signing a deal with Warner Brothers Discover, aka TBS/TNT. What would this mean for AEW?
I doubt that it will happen since I believe WBD has some financial interests in AEW and also, I can’t see NBC Universal approving of WWE programming on a rival cable network. Network TV is okay, but a direct rival, no way. But if it does happen, there are two alternatives for AEW. One would be to move directly to HBO Max for all of their programming so they would still be under the WBD umbrella, but not running against WWE or just being screwed and looking for a new home. If WWE moves to TBS/TNT, AEW has had a bad day. ‘Nuff said!
If you could pit AJ Lee against any ONE member of the current women’s roster in WWE, who would you choose and why?
AJ Lee was a phenomenal performer in her day, but she’s not the biggest or baddest woman around. If she could only come back for one match against any woman in WWE, I’d say Iyo Sky. They’re close in size and I think the contrast in styles would make for a fun and interesting match.
Better Pro Wrestling Gimmick: Bad News Barrett or Bad News Brown?
Bad News Brown was a legit badass and tough guy in the ring, but he didn’t have the gimmick or character in my opinion to stand out from the crowd. Barrett is also a legit badass, but he had that character down pat as well and I just liked the way he always said, “I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news for you!”. I’ll go with Barrett on this one.
Ric Flair is already in trouble in AEW. He ran long on a promo on Rampage and “invited all the women in the audience from ages 18-28 to meet him in his hotel room. No boyfriends or husbands.” Thoughts?
It’s Ric Flair being Ric Flair. The idea of a 74-year-old man trying to party with young women is cringy and nothing that the average person wants to see or think about, but Flair’s been cutting this same promo for forty years. No one should be surprised or have expected anything any different.
Some people inside WWE are already allegedly pushing for CM Punk versus Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 40. Thoughts?
As Austin proved at Mania 38 against Kevin Owens, he can still go. A match against Punk, who he is friends with, is a natural rivalry and writes itself. It would be a great main event for both men and if it does end up happening, I won’t be complaining.
Sammy Guevera has been medically cleared to return to the ring. What’s next for the Spanish God in AEW?
Before I answer, congratulations to Sammy & Tay Melo on the birth of their daughter, Luna. I’ve seen the pictures and she’s a beautiful baby. So what’s next? The whole Callis versus Jericho feud seems to have vanished and faded away so I’d just have Sammy show up on AEW television, confront Callis and company for forgetting about him, turn babyface, and maybe recruit some old friends such as Jake Hager and Aaron Solow to back him up as he takes on the Callis Family. Sammy has a lot of goodwill going right now as a new daddy so AEW should capitalize on it and play it up for a bit.
Adorable Adrian Adonis versus LA Knight. Who wins?
In a real fight, Adonis would crush Knight (Hey!), but in a wrestling match, the victory should go to LA Knight (Hey!). Knight would win (Hey!).
Obviously, Ted DiBiase was the right choice to be the Million Dollar Man. But, what if Gino Hernandez had not passed away? Do you think he could have been just as good or a better choice for that role?
No, I don’t think so. I think Gino would have excelled in the role of a spoiled, rich, entitled brat since that wouldn’t have been far from his character in Texas. The role of the Million Dollar Man required a more mature edge to make the character work and DiBiase was the perfect choice for that role. WWE and Vince made the right call with DiBiase. Gino was excellent, but the Million Dollar Man character wouldn’t have been right for him.
Dr. Britt Baker commented on Twitter the following: “Tonight’s #AEWDynamite: MJF live promo time: 7 mins Christian Cage live promo time: 10 mins All of 2023 #AEWDynamite: Britt Baker live promo time: 0 mins”. Thoughts?
I understand her frustration, but blasting this on Twitter was probably not the best idea she’s ever had. If it’s a work and part of an upcoming angle, that’s one thing, but to throw this out there is not going to make AEW management happy. It makes the company look bad as if they needed any help for that. I’m hoping that this is part of an angle and we end up seeing Baker on TV, cutting the promo, and doing her thing. She’s one of the most competent in the AEW Women’s Division and one of the better talkers. If it’s a shoot, actions have consequences and maybe she might need to be a little worried about her future in AEW right now. We’ll just have to watch and see.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
