It’s the best damn wrestling Q&A, period. The Ultimate Wrestling Q&A is here and it starts right now. Let’s roll.
Matt Hardy: “I mean, just creatively, like just the way we’ve been utilized like the last four months, it’s been very frustrating. We’ve been very patient, but there has been a lot of frustration, things we’ve done, and kind of how we’ve been utilized in some ways.” Thoughts?
I thought that when CM Punk left, all was supposed to be sugar plums and rainbows in AEW. But now we have complaints from The Hardys, Britt Baker, Juice Robinson, and so many others. What the hell? I get what Matt is saying, but he has to realize that he isn’t what he once was and neither is Jeff. It took some time, but they’re facing the same problems as every other person on the AEW roster, the strong push and then oblivion. Both Jeff and Matt are shadows of themselves and they’re not the draws that they once were, nor does Tony Khan know how to book a team of the Hardy’s status. It’s AEW and that’s how things work there.
Ric Flair says that he is willing to walk away from AEW Wrestling if he’s embarrassing AEW or Tony Khan. Thoughts?
Ric says this, but do you think he means it? Ric is making big statements and gestures, but he won’t change his behavior or modify things. Flair is Flair and if it actually comes down to leaving AEW over some incident or another, he’ll flip and play the victim. Just because Flair says something doesn’t mean anything. It’s just Flair being Flair.
Ronda Rousey confirmed in an interview with TMZ that her recent appearance in ROH was a one-off match and she has no plans to sign with AEW, preferring instead to focus on her family. Thoughts?
I’ll take her at her word on this one. Rousey can take Tony’s money for a one-off here and there, but instead of signing and being locked into a contract, she can work when she wants to and then, when the time is right, still go back to the big money deal under the big spotlight with WWE.
Randy Savage versus Steve Austin. Who wins?
This one would be an interesting contrast of styles to be sure. I think Stone Cold Steve Austin should get the win here.
The Steiner Brothers versus The Young Bucks. Who wins?
This one goes to Rick and Scott as they would wreak destruction on the two Generation Me stars.
According to Shawn Michaels, Dom Mysterio is the MVP of WWE 2023. Thoughts?
Look at the reactions that Dom gets. Is anyone else even close? If HBK thinks so, who am I to disagree?
Is it more important to be a good in-ring wrestler or a good character?
To be a great professional wrestler, one would probably need a good mixture of both talents and skills. But if a person has to be one or the other to get over, I think the character is more important than the in-ring skills.
Is Tony Khan the devil?
So far as the “Devil” who has been making MJF’s life hell in AEW, I don’t think so. This so-called Devil has been in physical confrontations and Tony is a guy who “feared for his life” when CM Punk lunged at him. So Tony isn’t that devil. But so far as an evil influence who is destroying careers and the business of professional wrestling, the jury is still out on that one.
With C.M. Punk obviously no longer an option, do you think AEW should try to get someone else to get ‘casual’ fans? OR should they try and hope someone else like MJF, Swerve Strickland, etc. catches on? Maybe a little of both?
AEW should try better booking, stronger storylines, good characters, and matches that make sense. But finding characters/wrestlers who work good matches and draw fans, that’s a good idea as well.
In January, William Regal’s no-appearance-on-TV ban ends and he’ll be able to appear on WWE TV again. Do you think he’ll have an on-air role for WWE?
Regal is too popular a character and personality to be kept off television if he’s available. Once WWE can use him and put him on television, they’d be foolish not to do so. Regal will be on our television again before long.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
