Tonight, live on Peacock and The WWE Network, from Bridgeport, CT, is the WWE NXT Deadline. So are you ready for some predictions? Let’s roll.
WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Baron Corbin.
Baron Corbin has reinvented himself and come a long way since leaving the main roster and going back to NXT. This guy is so underrated and damn good. But that being said, he’s good, but he’s not Ilja Dragunov. Dragunov is coming into himself as the NXT Champion and the man is going to be a huge star one day for WWE. I think it’ll be a good match and Corbin will certainly give the champ a good fight, but Dragunov should retain the title.
Winner and STILL NXT Champion: Ilja Dragunov.
WWE NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio vs. Dragon Lee, replacing the injured Wes Lee.
It doesn’t matter to me which Lee Dirty Dom ends up facing. So long as Dom has Mami by his side, not to mention the rest of the Judgement Day hanging around, he’s not losing that North American Championship. Dom will take a beating, but the belt stays right where it belongs, with Judgement Day and Dom.
Winner and STILL NXT North American Champion: Dominik Mysterio
Roxanne Perez vs. Kiana James in a Steel Cage Match.
I don’t know why, but two ladies in the steel cage just doesn’t feel right to me. I know WWE does it regularly these days and more often than not, the matches are damn good. I get that, but the only ladies I want to see inside cages are at the strip club. And yes, that is a joke. No cages allowed. They can’t make a good sandwich from inside a cage. Again, I kid. This should be a good fight. I think Roxanne Perez should win.
Winner: Roxeanne Perez.
Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge: Dijak vs. Trick Williams vs. Josh Briggs vs. Bron Breakker vs. Tyler Bate.
Trick Williams seems to be the favorite here by most of what I’ve seen lately, but my gut says Bron Breakker needs to get his heat back and needs a big win. The Iron Survivor Challenge should be that big win.
Winner: Bron Breakker
Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge: Tiffany Stratton vs. Lash Legend vs. Blair Davenport vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Fallon Henley.
This time, I’ll go with the obvious favorite. Tiffany Stratton wins.
Winner: Tiffany Stratton
Carmelo Hayes vs. Lexis King.
This will probably be the match of the night. Both of these men are so damn good. This is the future of WWE/NXT and the future is so bright, I gotta wear shades. Hayes is a made man and wins or loses, he’s Teflon and will be okay. Lexis King is the new kid on the block, the man destined for greatness, and the second-generation talent who is trying to make it on his own. I have to go with Lexis King, fka Brian Pillman Jr., on this one.
Winner: Lexis King
And that’s all of the matches that have been announced as of this writing so we’re going to call it a day. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. What are your predictions? Are you planning to watch? Let me know. And with that, let’s wrap things up. I have to be up for work in about four hours. Yes, I’m opening the store and working day-shift today, the first time in nearly seven months. Pray for me. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
