It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s roll.
Which was your favorite female manager/valet in the 80s and 90s?
There are so many great ones to choose from, such as Miss Elizabeth, Missy Hyatt, Sherri Martel, Madusa, etc., but for me personally, I have two that stand above all others. Baby Doll & Nancy Benoit, aka Woman.
Missy Hyatt versus Debra McMichael. Who wins?
Somewhere off in the distance, I can hear Joey Styles screaming, “CATFIGHT!”. Missy would whoop that ass all over the arena and then seal the deal with her Guucci purse. Missy Hyatt wins.
I am really wondering why AEW holds back the big guys. Luchasaurus, Wardlow, Hobbs, Brian Cage, the entire House of Black, Brian Cage, and the list goes on. So many big things are being missed with these guys.
AEW has the big guys on the roster, but Tony is more of a fan of the smaller, more gymnastic types of wrestlers. Look at his EVPs. the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. The powers that be in AEW are more into the flippy style of wrestling and thus, those are the talents that get the heavy push.
Daniel Garcia & Dirty Dango (Fandango) versus Disco Inferno & Alex Wright in a Dance-Off. Who wins?
I like Garcia and he’s getting better every day. Dirty Dango, aka Fandango, is a great character and performer as well. But how many tag team titles have either of those guys won? Disco and Alex would win in the ring and the pre-match dance-off. Always remember, it’s your duty to shake your booty. ‘Nuff said!
Tony Khan gives you a job. Your role is figuring out strategies to improve attendance what are you doing?
Two things immediately come to mind. Have Tony book smaller arenas so that it doesn’t seem so empty. That would help bring down costs as well as reflect better on the product and create a better atmosphere for the talents. And then encourage Tony and the creative team to build characters and stories instead of just tossing random matches out there with no build or reason for being. Characters and stories give the fans a reason to invest in the wrestlers and thus, more likely to spend their money to come see the wrestlers perform. It’s common sense and Wrestling Booking 101.
Fatal 4-Way: Harley Race versus Nick Bockwinkel versus Bob Backlund versus Ric Flair. Who wins?
It would depend on what part of the country they’re in and who the promoter is, but my money would be on Harley for this particular match.
Thoughts on Ed Leslie, aka Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake?
I remember first seeing Leslie working for Crockett under the name Dizzy Hogan and he stood out and had that “it” factor going on. He didn’t stay with Crockett long and the next time I remember seeing him was debuting as Brutus Beefcake in the WWF. A talented guy who changed gimmicks like most people change underwear, and once he latched on to Hulk Hogan, he never looked back. He was never a great wrestler, but he was good enough and played some interesting characters along the way. Some of those last ones were real doozies. But I have nothing bad to say about Leslie. He wasn’t one of my favorites, but he had a good career and made an impression.
Ryback is at it again, teasing that he will be facing Bill Goldberg in a “Retirement Match”. No specific information, but mainly just Ryback saying that it would be big. Thoughts?
Do you know how to know if Ryback is lying and talking just to be talking? His mouth is moving and he gets in front of a camera. Goldberg isn’t paying a bit of attention to Ryback, nor should he. Or should anyone for that matter? Ryback says? Who cares?
It’s the 25th Anniversary of the legendary “Fingerpoke of Doom” between Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash. Thoughts & memories of that legendary spot.
Hogan said to Nash, “I love you brother!”, and pointed at him to make his point more obvious. Nash was so overwhelmed by the love, he passed out. Okay, maybe not. It was a hot-shot moment to make an impact and it did. Unfortunately, the side-effects and consequences were all bad and drove off a lot of WCW fans who had been willing to stick with the company until then. Was it a Vince Russo idea? I can’t remember, but it was not good for WCW or wrestling. Not in the slightest.
I think AEW needs more factions, belts, and cow bells. Yes or no?
I think someone has been hanging out with Tony Khan and playing in the snow way too much with that question. Or maybe it’s a concussion? But yeah, sure, that’s exactly what AEW needs. Just ask Tony and he’ll agree. Rolls eyes.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s close up shop for the day. I have to go to work and sell some liquor. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
