I won’t have time to do this tonight so I’m doing it now. It’s a pre-time-for-work edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s roll.
Do you think the TNA red and yellow logo and color usage is a sign Hulk Hogan is coming back?
While never say never is a common phrase used in professional wrestling, I think saying that Hulk Hogan will NEVER return as part of TNA is a pretty safe statement to make. Hogan’s not going back.
A tweet on X talked about Bully Ray & Devon going to AEW. Max Caster, of the Aclaimed, responded by saying, “Bully Ray has to pay A LOT of dues before he steps foot in my locker room.” This is very disrespectful to Bully in my opinion. Thoughts?
Bully Ray and Caster have been going back and forth about this and guess what? It seems to be a work and just two men having fun, potentially building to an eventual confrontation and story together. If Caster is serious, he needs to apologize and learn respect. If it’s, as I suspect, just work, good for Caster & Bully Ray. They’re building up interest and getting people talking. Good for them.
The Great Muta versus Cactus Jack? Who wins?
I’ve got to go with the Great Muta on this one.
Tony Khan announced on Twitter that “the rankings are coming back to AEW going forward, starting this month!!”. Thoughts?
And? No offense to Tony, but having ratings based on wins and losses, in a worked-sport, isn’t going to put butts in the seats or increase the audience for AEW. Maybe a worked Top-Ten with top contenders for the different titles could be interesting, but AEW has so many titles, that it would take an entire episode of Rampage just to show all of the lists. This announcement has people talking, but I don’t see the point.
If you were making the call, who would you have preferred to have as the NWA World Champion back during their primes? David Von Erich or Magnum TA?
I’d have to go with Magnum on this one. He was the better talker, the better character, and had a bigger fan base, due to his time on TBS with Dusty and Crockett. David was a talented guy, but outside of Texas, he wasn’t a big star and didn’t have much appeal. At least not in my opinion.
The first person that comes to mind when you see the ECW Championship?
The Franchise, Shane Douglas. He wasn’t called “The Franchise” of ECW for no reason.
The Bruiserweight Pete Dunne versus Jungle Boy Jack Perry. Who wins?
Dunne would take Perry apart, bit by bit, and have him crying a river if you will. The Bruiserweight wins.
Drake Maverick versus Fuego Del Sol. Who wins?
The comedy for this match would be awesome, and the match itself? It’d be far better than most people would expect. A loss wouldn’t hurt Drake and he could bounce back with just one promo afterwards. Feugo is admittingly one of my favorites but losing would set him back quite a bit. I’d say Fuego with the Tornado DDT for the win.
Would you be interested in a Bret Hart podcast?
Maybe if it was a few years ago, but Bret is so damn negative all the time and he’s not a great talker. I could only stand just so much of why everything is Goldberg’s fault before I’d have to turn it off. Bret is a wrestling legend to be sure, but I don’t think he has the personality to carry a podcast. I’d pass on this one.
Thoughts on The Hustler Rip Rogers.
I only remember seeing Rogers work as an enhancement talent for WCW, but he was always colorful, interesting, and fun to watch. I didn’t know until much later about his career in the Pacific Northwest or his work as a trainer for OVW. He’s got a podcast that I’ve only heard a few times, but he keeps it interesting, and it was a good listen. I hope to hear more eventually, time permitting. A very memorable wrestler and character to be sure.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. I need to go to work for the next seven hours or so and sell some liquor. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
